What was his mentality? Which choice of speech(peaceful, smartass, or aggresive) did you normally pick? What was s/he like? Mine was an brutal, harsh, smartass guy who thought that the end justified the means. He showed little mercy, even to those that didn't deserve to be killed and was mostly ill-tempered, especially when it came to his companions.

I just did what I would do for Iago(first Hawke), I'm not finished, yet though.

I used the diplomat tree most of the time. But when stuff got serious or something really needed to get done,I used stern. You know, gotta be flat out. So he was a nice guy who knew when he had to get really serious, particularly if his family or the mages faced some kind of security. Then he got all emo, and was qqin' when mama got all messed up, "It's my fault!" I always chose, and I got all in to it. It was my fault, I shouldn't have done all them side quests in between getting the news that a serial killer was after her and actually doing something about it. <:^|

It's all good.

I used whatever I felt was appropriate for the situation. But I have leaned toward comedy a bit.

Aggressive was mostly what I went with for conversation choices. Business personality in almost all dealings, especially the personal ones. Pretty neutral about most things. She'd let people live if she didn't feel like wasting time on killing them, and sometimes kill simply because it was more convenient than dealing with whatever came with their lives being spared.

Fun character, really.

Mine was very even-tempered and chose mostly humorous/witty responses. Sometimes, when it felt appropriate (when companions were seeking advice or pouring out their hearts), I elected the diplomatic responses. When my family members were threatened and when a couple really horrible things happened, I chose the aggressive responses (righteous fury). I think of my Hawke as often battling his dread or frustration with humor. I would spare people when I felt they wouldn't harm anyone further or could be punished legally, but I didn't go out of my way to uphold the law. I would describe him as a rogue with a heart of gold.

Kind-hearted, polite and diplomatic 90% of the time, with the occasional sarcastic or silly aside to a companion. Overprotective to the point of aggression when it comes to her family and friends' well-being, also has little to no patience for those who gleefully prey on the innocent. Fits in well with a warrior who carries a giant shield, IMO.

My first Hawke, a mage, was mostly a joker merc with a heart of tin. She convinced Varric to slay his brother to spare him the pain of living on like that, did not bother to talk Fenris out of killing his sister, and didn't get into a romance until after her mother died simply because she needed someone to be there for her. She loved her little brother and tried hard to build up a relationship with him but failed miserably. Became more good-oriented by middle of Act 2.

My rogue, on the other hand, is very much a googie-goodie with a splash of jocularity thrown in for good measure. She is very protective of her little sister and, whereas my mage allowed Merril to do whatever she wanted in regards to blood magic with the reasoning that it was her (Merril's) life to ruin, my rogue is going full rival with Merril, trying to show her how bad blood magic can make things. She had Varric spare his brother and will likely ask Fenris to spare his sister later on as well. Harbors intense guilt over the loss of her brother.

My first Hawke was as generic as you could get in terms of being the typical 'selfless hero' who everyone adored. However that's normally how I play my first 'test' characters in an RPG, so I'm not all that put off by it.

My current, and favorite Hawke, Eva, however is much different.  She's rude, brash, sarcastic, and likes to beat people's faces in when they look at her the wrong way. She's kind or humorous towards those she is familiar with, but overall it's not that hard to hit her 'aggro' button regardless of the issue. However three topics that induce the most potent of rages within her are slavers, the murder of innocents, and the thought of anyone harming her family. Any one of which will set her off into an uncontrollable fit of rage the likes of which very few are ever lucky enough to survive. In spite of her love for her sister and father, she has real no love for mages as a whole. She'll tolerate their existence should they prove themselves to be unthreatening enough, but the first hint of aggression from them is enough for her to send them packing. After the death of her sister and mother, this feeling of distrust only continues to grow with time, though she never actively harms or demeans a mage without due cause. In the end it's this distrust, and her own feelings of wanting to restore order in Kirkwall after Ander's untimely "interruption" that lead her to support the Templars in the final struggle. If it were up to her, however, she'd have given them all the finger and let them sort each other out. She has very little love for either side, and only the thought of restoring some semblence of balance to Kirkwall allowed her to choose to side with the Templars, rather than her distrust towards those with magical arts.

My Hawke had/has a great sympathy for the mages. She took her duty to protect her family very seriously, and deeply respected her father. Her relationship with her father, and her love for her sister and mother, filled her with the unshakable knowledge that not all mages are evil-- even at her darkest she knew that. She couldn't lift her sword against the mages, even when the entire city was infested with Blood mage serial murderers. That's why she fell for Anders, and managed to forgive him in the end. Over all, she's a stern, agressive person when dealing with people she didn't know or templars or fools. She craved power, so she could stop anyone from messing with the people she loved ever again. In the end, that wasn't enough from keeping the people she cared about slipping away from her one by one.

She treated her family with love, and even came to forgive Gameln after the loss of Leandra. Merrill earned her compassion, and she always had a word of jest to share with Varric or Isabella. Fenris and my Hawke didn't see eye to eye, and as the years went on, they stopped seeing one another. Sebastian and Hawke didn't get along, becuase she felt he was wasting his birthright by remaining in the Chantry. She was proud when he left to rally his forces, because the message finally got through to him.

All in all, my Hawke was a deeply sad person. She didn't deal so well with living alone in such a large house. At the end of it, she had done great things, but the price of her power was grave.

That's my Hawke.

I was SUPPOSED to be a mage hating doesn't-see-what's-wrong-with-Meredith Hawke, but my stupid conscious got in the way and I felt bad for the mages so I helped them.

My first Hawke was a male rouge. He was the nice guy always leaning towards a diplomatic soulotion. My second Hawke is a Female mage. She is usally sarcastic/funny unless it's not something to joke about.

I always lean towards the nice way in RPG's.

I played another good-guy, paragon-ish female mage. What can I say, I just like female mages!

I chose (usually) the diplomatic or nice dialogue options, with the exceptions being:

a) When someone/thing threatened my sibling/companions, in which case I immediately jumped to the aggressive options

B) When someone/thing threatened mages, when I usually immediately jumped the agressive options, and

c) When someone/thing threatened Anders, my love interest, when I usually jumped right to the "gut you like a fish" option, despite it being imprudent/wildly unfair.

Other than those three incredibly wide blind spots, I was the epitome of goodness and virtue.

I honestly never felt like Hawke was "my Hawke", cause it felt like nothing I did mattered. This is the first time in a Bioware game where I felt completely detached from "my" character and by the end was wondering how can Hawke be a hero or champion I sure don't feel like one.

My Hawke tried to do the right thing by everyone and got stabbed in the back by everyone including her companions. I felt like she was a victim of circumstances and things were going to be ugly no matter what she did. Excellent writing in my opinion because I was pretty angry during many parts of the game.

I suspect many people probably did not like the game because they did not feel like a "hero" like you did in the first game. Honestly, I had more appreciation for Hawke than the warden. The warden had everyone wanting to help after you helped them first of course. In this game, you were trying to help resolve issues only to see them escalate further due to fear, greed or anger. It was more realistic in my opinion.

My Hawke was diplomatitc, she had a resentment of mages from the start (because of her father and sister), although was very protective of bethany and Mother as she was very very family orintated (aggressive lines if anyone was mean), she started off as believing that mages where treated too harshly but that they did need to be watched over by the templars, but when she met Fenris, Aviline, Seb and by the events in game her resentment grew to the point that she was very pro Circle and keeping mages on a tight leash. She was a devout Andreasrian (spelling???) and tried to see the best in her companions/ friend wether she agreed with their views or not!!

She was bbf's with Varric and I like to think she would get very drunk with him and isabella (who she was also very friendly with) in the pub :) and head over heels in love with fenris. She had pitty for Merril who she though was so innocent that she didnt really know how deep she was digging herself, she didnt trust Anders at all, and respected Avaline seeing her as a moral compas.

But mostly she was a kind, virtuas, virginal (at least to start eith lol) hero figure

My Hawke was more the merciful kind of guy who was basically the middle man in issues trying to compromise for everything with a don't f*** with me and get to the point attitude, but also does his own justice towards others where he believes the system won't solved it. He leaned towards pro-mage until the end then changed sides for what he believed to be the greater good with all the things that happen

I played my FemHawke as mostly decent, but certainly concerned about family. Whenever I chose selfish options it was mainly because I felt like she'd do what she had to to make sure her family lived comfortably and tok what was theirs back.

She ended up siding with the mages and romancing Anders because I felt like with her background, she wouldn't really be fearful of mages. Anders actions at the endgame didn't fly over well...at all... however as I had spent most of the third act trying to negotiate peace.

My first play through, I created a Mage Hawke. He was compassionate and righteous. I tried to resolve every situation via compromise, but of course the game wouldn't allow me to solve every situation without bloodshed, so he would call forth wrath from the heavens and strike down his enemies ruthlessly. He also stuck a knife in Ander's. That selfish pile of mage waste had it coming..
