Why is hawke the only one that can use blood magic and not summon demons and transform into an abomination?
Put another way why are ALL the apostates and mages for that matter becoming instant Abominations?
This was completely rediculas and pretty much made a case against mages period.
Even as an apostate character you still had to go wtf is going on?
Blood magic and Apostates were never synotomus in DA:O why are they in DA 2?

The only explanation the game really gives is that the mages were under an insane amount of pressure from meredith and the templars, and in order to be free, they resorted to blood magic and demons. Plausible, if disappointing. I thought they'd be stronger mentally than that
My issue with apostates in the dragon age universe is why are they so hard to root out? from what i've seen, they cast spells pretty openly and, get this, carry magic staves that hurl energy out of them with all the subtlety of fireworks. I really like these games, but it was about time for some open warfare between templars and mages. The not-so-covert mage hunting thing was a tad ridiculous to me

Yeah while I know it would probably annoy the hell out of us to be constantly attacked by Templars through out the game. So I understand really what is happening we kill all our enemies so non of my allies are ratting me out. True, but a once in a while encounter with a Templar investigating rumors about you would be cool.
And if you chose blood magic and use it why does not Aveline or Fenris freak out a little on you, say something and get you at least a one time +10 Rivalry over its use?

merrill is a blood mage too but as soon as she used it to open a door all your companions start at her where as you can bring down and entire army that is appearently hding on the roof tops without anyone baiting an eye boddles the mind...

True, your allies wouldn't rat you out, but i recall a few fights where i was literally slinging spell wrought death on bad guys while templars were right beside me fighting either me, or working together with me to fight a common enemy. There's really no way to hide it at that point.
"Oh, those fireballs you saw? Naw, wasn't me bro," just doesn't quite cover it. They saw me using spells and didn't even comment, which s a little weird considering how strictly all other mages are kept under lock and key.
That idea you had about them investigating you is actually a really awesome one. I hope they implement that at some point
