I was just think about this. I was happy to see some familiar faces: Alistair, Zevran, Leliana, etc. Still, even if they were only just meant to be around for brief guest appearances, I was hoping to get a little more information out of them, at least when it came to the Warden. I was disappointed that when brought up, they talked about my Warden more as if she were some simple acquaintance rather than a person they spent a year of their lives getting to know and battle evil with. For example, in the case of Alistair who I had stay with the Wardens referred to my character as an 'old friend' though they had been in a relationship at the end. I dunno, I guess I was just expecting something different than what we got, more acknowledgement of what they all went through and such.

What about the rest of you? Do you feel the same or were you satisfied?

My first play-through was 34 hours. Did every quest available to me. I imported my Origins as well.

I completely missed Fenris and the only Origins companion I saw was Leliana. :/

I share your sentiment. I saw them as a way to hear about my Warden and possibly for my Hawke to actually know them outside of possible blood relations and what flies around as legend. It didn't change the experience, at least. I enjoyed seeing them and found it fun to see how well they may or may not be integrated into DA2.

I didn't actually even see Zevran, sadly.

I was quite happy to see them, but went quite sad when Zevran tried to bed my LI (and especially when it was reciprocated).

Leliana I'm sick of, after Origins and her own dlc pack after Origins. If I liked her I probably wouldn't be sick of her but I never liked her. Alistair on the other hand I'm very interested in more content for. I really enjoyed him in Origins and was disappointed that he didn't have his own dlc. I would have much rather played one for him. So I would say not enough Alistair and too much Leliana in DA2. As for Zevran he didn't appear in my first playthrough. I'll try and make him surface next time.

I was generally, although I still can't tell what affect my DA:O import had since I killed Zevran and yet there he was.

LOL they all look strange imo. Leliana especially looks...off. Two reasons why, though; the updated graphics and the fact that the characters are all almost a decade older (7).

Yeah, I mean I get that they look different, with age and the graphics change, but Alistair looked the worst to me.  I thought Zev looked pretty good after getting the new elf treatment and Leliana didn't look that different to me either.  Nor Nathaniel.  But Alistair...he didn't look "different" so much as bad, to me.

I thought Nathaniel looked okay. =] I wish he could have stuck around longer - he was my favorite cameo. I loved his reaction to Carver and Hawke's sibling bickering.

I was sad to see Zevran cheating on my Warden with Isabela, though (or making the offer to Hawke when Izzy wasn't in the party).

I really enjoyed Alistair's and Zevran's, specially Alistair's though since I married him to my Warden. His comments at the end were hilarious.

It went something like:

Alistair: "Time to get back to the ol' ball and chains.."
Teagan: "The Queen hates it when you call her that..."
Alistair:  "No she doesn't. Just because she killed the Archedemon.....I'm not afraid of her...."
Teagan: "That's what you tell yourself, your Majesty.."

Priceless.

I didn't really like any of the LI cameos, honestly. Both of the boys looked horrific, I couldn't even look at them, I literally had to avert my eyes when they spoke. And Zevran was too loud, he practically yelled all of his lines. Yeesh, where'd that Antivan purr go?

But most of all I felt it was a cameo for cameo's sake, with all of the 'wink wink, nudge nudge' involved and none of the joy of the characters. Alistair's reciting of the swooping line seemed incredibly forced, and all of his other lines were pointless (I've only seen King Alistair so far, not the other version). What, is he there to tell Hawke s/he needs to protect Kirkwall because it has meaning if it's coming from a character we the players know and like? It was just odd.

I felt Zevran's flirting betrayed those who romanced him and successfully got him to love and the 'proposal', as I did. He didn't even mention a relationship with the person who healed his heart and taught him to love. I kind of thought that might have meant something to him. Other than that, the face thing and the weird way his VA was doing his lines were just too distracting.

I felt Leliana was just odd. She seemed awfully smug and sassy, not the endearing, good-hearted girl that I knew. Maybe that's 'hardened' Leliana, or it was true that during DA:O she was just showing me one of her spy masks, I don't know.

I dislike the new elf look so seeing Zevran was just weird, and Leliana didn't seem like herself at all.

The only one I really liked was the King Alistair one. He looked horrible, really horrible, but it was so very nice to hear him and remember just how much more lively the character interactions were in Origins, particularly how much fun Alistair was to be around. It really lifted the game up for a few minutes. Of course, then everything went back to being grim.

This so much. He looked horrible but his humor made everything feel a bit better. And then he's gone and I'm back with emo-Hawke and Anders.

I loved seeing Alistair (even if his face was kind of bloated and Teagan's hair color was off) because he was one of the few people actually willing to banter with you. Most people just got annoyed or confused (or outright ignored it) when you picked the sarcastic options.

I enjoyed them. Except Leliana, but I just don't like her.

I still want to buy Alistair some midol, though.

I was generally satisfied (except with Zev's face, what WAS that?), but I do wish Leliana hadn't been quite so... vague in her mention of my warden. I think people who romanced Alistair got more of a solid answer as to whether the romance was still alive.

Then again, I can chalk that up to Leliana being Leliana. Sneaky secretive bard and all that.

The cameos were pretty satisfying if I do say so myself, but I wanted to slap Zevran for flirting with Hawke after he "claimed" to learn to love because of my Warden. Image IPB And Alistair looked weird.

I didn't mind the cameos at all for several reasons.

1) Updated Looks - Well, the characters would be 7 years older than DA:O, I do not expect them to look the same. Also, all Elves look different now so Zevran not looking as ugly as many other elves was a relief.

2) Personality - I am not too particular about their "changed" personalities other than Zevran's(if he was in a very serious relationship with my Warden) as I expect them to have changed during the 7 years.

Zev looked fine, but I was sad to find out my Warden's romance with him went unacknowledged. It was nifty he fought with Hawke at the end. Alistair got hit with the ugly bat, but he was funneh and I liked when he and Isabela remarked about their changed appearances as a subtle jab at the change in art direction between the games. I've never cared for Lelianna and that extended into DA2. She still looked good at least.

I got to see that wussy girly boy Alistair drunk in the bar ****ing about the Wardens and how he's really a Prince of Fereldan. That cameo was enough to make up for any shortcomings for other cameos.

Image IPB

I just feel sorry for the poor sods Alistair must be duping out of money to afford those nice clothes while living out his life as a rambling drunk. And those blighted Fereldan refugees wonder why they're stuck in Lowtown or Darktown. Giving all their money to people like Alistair doesn't help guys! :P

I really enjoyed DA2 and loved the fact that so many details of what you did in Origins and its DLC were implemented into DA2, but even so, as the author of the thread mentioned, I too miss more details of their days with the Warden, or rather how they got separated.

I think I managed to find all cameo appearances /rumors in DA2. If any companions died in DAO however, they will not appear in DA2 (excluding Anders I assume, as Justice could inhabit his body just the same).

Anders became a great friend in Awakening, and in DA2 he even quotes the selection made from our discussion about "if you can leave the Wardens". Justice surely messed him up. Zevran is having a blast exterminating the Crows as I spared his life. Nathaniel still works with the Grey Wardens, he bears no ill about Anders having left them. Shale is hunting down Pigeons. Alistair is as goofy as ever and Isabela remembers him from when she taught the Warden dueling, she even comments on him becoming King. He also still have contact with the Warden...

Maybe my biggest reaction was during the DLC of The Exiled Prince, where you get to speak to Leliana. I romanced her in DAO, now she is a seeker for the chantry. She has written the songs about their time together and the Warden has a special place in her heart, I understand thus far, but she and the seekers are looking for him and cannot find him? I'm really missing this part of the story but am guessing a bigger answer will come in the next game or expansion. The last I heard from Leliana was in a letter in Awakenings saying the Grand Cleric herself wished to speak with her.

Alot happens in 7 years+ though, so I can't complain about updated looks and/or personality. I am looking forward to see the bigger picture in the future though.
