The guide says Leliana's mage buddy from her DLC is in the game, but I can't find him anywhere. Is it true?

Yes. Sketchy on the Details is the quest he appears in.

The only one I hate is Leli because it's OOC, bugged and she breaks up with the Warden :(

Leliana I liked, her cameo hinted at a deeper roll in the plot (especially at the end) which made the cameo believable.
I loved seeing Alistair again but I felt like his cameo was a little forced. He did look strange but he also looked older - which he would be (also, Teagan!!!! :D). It gave some light relief from an otherwise draining and depressing story lol
EDIT: oh also I never met Zevran, I tried really hard to do a lot of the side quests too so I have no idea how or where I missed him

i didnt actually think it was that out out of character for her. she is a bard after all.
hmmm i know her dialogue was vague but i didnt take that to mean she broke up with the warden. more along the lines of not wanting to discuss her personal life with people she didnt really know. i personally would have liked more as a player but it made sense in context.
bleh apologies for lack of caps. my phone keyboard doesnt seem to like the forum code

The flags are purportedly glitched. If you use the console commands to "check the state of the world", it either comes up 'Player did not romance Zevran' or you get both 'Player did not romance Zevran' AND 'Player romanced Zevran', but the "did not" is overriding the did (and currently there's no way to fix it). The Prima guide supports this - saying specifically that Zevran will not flirt/bed Hawke if he's been romanced.

But whether or not that's based on the game that was actually released or some preview, no one knows because there's no new toolset to look at the dialogue and see if there is actually anything more that can be said, or if the "I'm proposing to you Zevran" or the "With you to the end Zevran" or the "My Warden made the ultimate sacrifice and I'll never love again Zevran" was totally scrapped.

You shouldn't get the quest for him, if he's dead, but look for the quest giver Nuncio in the Red Lantern district during Act 3 to begin Murder of Crows, if you let him live.

PS. He and Alistair (heck, Teagan too) looked horrible, although I think Zevran got off easy compared to the other elves in the game (besides Fenris). Elf re-vamp aside, the difference in appearance could easily be attributed to different tribes of elves all over the freaking place - and it was dumb to do to for him to begin with, because you know the first thing people will do once they get the toolset is to give Alistair and Zevran their old faces, so they may as well have saved us the trouble. I held my hand over the screen while he was talking, it was just easier on my eyes that way.

In my second playthrough I used my import from DA:O in which I was a mage and romanced Zevran. I brought Isabela in my party to do his mission because I knew they would have interesting dialogue with each other. Zevran was about to leave when Isabela said, "Wait, what about sex?" and they both left the camp area to do so. I wasn't surprised with his flirty nature but having sex with Isabela? Not okay.

I'm torn.

I like Leliana. She was my favorite character from the first game. She was almost always in my party. I liked seeing her on Sebastian's quest in Act III. Especially with Isabella in the party. I wish that encounter had lasted a bit longer, that she had joined you for more of the mission and given you more information, perhaps referencing events from Origins more.

But on the other hand, by making her a central figure in the ending of the game and seperating her from the Warden, it irks me a bit for characters that romanced her. I mean, in my head, I can always just ignore it, but I wish they had just gone with someone else, who wasn't as connected to Origins, or a new character entirely. But like someone in another thread, I'm just going to pretend that Leliana was lying about the Warden's location and was covering up for them to protect them for whatever reason. Seems as good a reason to me as any!

I liked seeing King Allistair, though I wish it had been longer. More of a quest or something like that, like he sends you to find some information for him. But it was still nice to see him - especially since I brought Aveline, Isabela, and Anders with me. He had fun interactions with all three, hehe.

Zevran was also nice to see again. He wasn't a favorite from origins, but I still liked him, and he was used well in his appearance in Act III. I especially liked that he went to the Dalish for shelter, but didn't stay WITH them so they wouldn't be directly in harm's way. That shows that his character has grown beyond being a Crow.

I still wish Sten - OUR Sten that is - had made an appearance at some point. But oh well.

They were neat.
I didn't appreciate Zevran trying to cheat on my Warden with my Hawke though.
I'm glad Fenris stepped in.

Alistair looked like he's been eating a lot of cheese in the past ten years. And I wish I knew what caused the Nate bug since he didn't show up in my Mage play through even though I know he survived might need to do a play through that ignores Golems/Witch Hunt if it's causing bugs to occur.

I think it's bunk that even if you defiled the ashes of andraste with Leliana in your party and KILLED her, she's still integral to Dragon Age 2. Like they couldn't have had another character say the same lines even, just so it's not a hand wave of "YEah, she died in your save? So what we don't care we want her back nana na na na"

I only really loved Leliana in Sebastian's personal quest. Maybe because she was the one who looked the most similar to her old model and seemed more important to the overall story, I don't know. The rest were nice, but I would rather learn more about my new companions than see a tip of the hat to the old ones.

The personal quests in this game were just too dang cool. I would trade any cameo for more of those.

I liked all of them, but the "swooping is bad" reference was my favourite, if only because it reminded me of the scene in which you meet Morrigan.

No not really, cameo were nice but unlike others i was hoping more for cameos for minor quests i did in DA:O. Like seeing that boy become an adventurer and the farmer-turned-soldier that created the order of silver(?) knights or somebody from that order. Or maybe ruck in deep roads.... that's what made my heart jump from joy in mass effect 2, lesser choices mattered there and playing a good guy gave more life to mass effect 2
also i heared that warden-commander of warden's keep (forgot the name) can make a cameo, is that true?

Yeah there's an import bug with Witch Hunt that's keeping Origins relationship flags from being read correctly.

Eek, did Bioware confirm that somewhere? If so, hope they patch it soon...

In Act 3, there's a guy named Nuncio standing in front of the Blooming Rose in Hightown. He gives you the quest where you meet Zevran.

Honestly, he didn't disappoint. Everything got so drab that his appearance made me go, "ZEVRAN!! THANK GOD YOU'RE HERE!". It's nice to see he hasn't changed and he even helps you kick ass in the final battle.

Well Alistar is king now, probably doesn't get out much... just eats and stuff so he got fat. Still should have had the golden king armor though

My immediate thought upon seeing him was "he spent a lot of  years eating cheese."

:ph34r:really should finish the thread before posting:ph34r:

It seems like they ignored the fact certain npc's could die to make them suit the story.

Zevran and Alistair were awful looking.

The Zevran quest was so terrible. They never made mention about why the Crows are after him. They just say that Zevran keeps killing them. I mean how is Hawke supposed to make an informed decision about letting him go or turning him in when they never say why they want him. Sure, any Origins player knows the answer, but not Hawke.

I also don't like, didn't happen to me, that some characters like Zevran and Leliana were brought back even if you imported a game where you killed them. And I counseled Leliana to be an assassin and forget the Chantry and then there she was working for them again. *Sigh* Although I did really like the new Leliana.

Nathaniel looked all right.

At least King Alistair says "Swooping is bad" again.

I had Alistair come at the end of act 2, as he decided to forgo the crown to stay with

<--Raoune. (who wouldn't, right?)

I was really pleased with it. He'd matured a little, but was still clearly Alistair. And he wasn't fat. Guess it's just the active lifestyle.

When I saw Zevran I actually had to do a double take. He looks awful. I actually don't mind the elf makeover, I think most of them look fine (Keeper, Fenris, Merill, etc). But Zevran looks like he was beaten and then put back together by someone who got a very vague description of what he looks like.

Zevran showing up triggered funny in my game though because he didn't flirt or ask my fem!Hawke to sleep with him after. Which, according to this thread means I romanced him, except my Warden didn't. She married Alistair. O.o Sad. Didn't even know anything was off til reading this. Sad. Wanted to see jealous Fenris!

Alistair looked.. kind of like himself. But off.. His model seemed.. less detailed than other character models? Like no effort was put in for him at all. I know it's seven years later but he doesn't look like he aged he looks like.. an ugly melty version of himself. And his hair was the wrong shade. It bugged me but after I saw Zevran I was just counting my lucky stars I didn't want to vomit when I saw him.

As for Leliana.. she looked strange but I mostly have the chalked up to the fact that I have the DA Redesigned mod appearance for her in DA:O

The best cameo for me was Cullen. It madeso much sense and they didn't change him 1 bit. You can really tell the tower from origins had a major effect on him. Alister was nice but really just window dressing.

I never found Zevran's quest giver during my game, but finally dug up an old save where I found him.  I had to sort of mentally re-figure his appearance to be closer to what I was used to- all his muscles went to his chin somehow- but still had a goofy grin on my face the entire time he was on screen.  He is just such a great character.

Likewise it was fabulous to see Alistair again.  Again, the appearance was a drawback, but with Steve Valentine doing the VO it was definitely good ol' Alistair.  The VAs make all the difference.

I was sad that we didn't get a chance to at least offer Nate a little consolation from home!   Watching his reaction would be too <3.  Having him show up at the final battle was awesome.  It allowed me to take this screenshot.

I loved the cameos: Cullen was an awesome surprise in particular.

I was a little miffed that King Alistair didn't angst a little about my v-card stealing martyr or **** about his political marriage he was forced into, but then again he'd had ten years to get over it.

Alistair and Zevran's new faces just... scared the crap out of me. I was also quite miffed at Zevran as my Warden romanced him and he still took off to have sex with Isabela. DLC where my Warden can slap him upside the head? Yes? :D
