I loved all the cameos - honestly I probably bought the game just to see all my pals from Origins again.
I thought Zevran looked fine with the new elf design but Alistair and Teagan looked just plain awful. Teagan look washed out and didn't have any of his dashing looks and Alistair - I'm not sure what was worse - the bloated face, the big nose or the squinty eyes - just all kinds of wrong. Especially when Cullen looked so good - no reason why they all couldn't look good.

Cullen was definitely the big win though - just loved that he came through when it mattered even after all the crap he went through with the Ferelden Circle.

I just wish they would have incorporated more of what happened in Awakenings with Anders story. Sometimes he kinda pissed me off the way he'd talk badly about the wardens and I'm like - hello my warden saved your butt, gave you a cat and protected you from the templars....

I liked the cameos but they just felt... lacking. Especially Leliana, who for me had the shortest screentime (though her being a Seeker at the end was a nice twist). Maybe a few more lines of dialogue about their friendship with the Warden would have fixed it. I dunno.

Zevran's ticked me off however. I had Isabela in my party so when they were talking about another threesome, all I could think of was my Warden. There may be one less former-assassin in Thedas soon...

I heard that Zevran is supposed to turn Isabela down if he was romanced in Origins, so I think it was a bug. Still miffs me though.

Romances so far are bugged, at least lelianas is, the only one I know that works so far is the alistair and queen cousland one.

first playthrough the only ones i ran into were Leliana, Zevran and Nathanial. Besides Nathaniel they were all satisfying. i let Alistair die in Origins so i couldn't encounter him.

Would it have been too much to have your Warden (assuming they survived) actually make a cameo too? Just to hear what they sounded like?

Seriously though, it was great to see them again. And nice screen of Cailan there xD where is that?

Alistair killed me. I loved him so much in the first game, and I about had a heart attack when I got the letter.

The only one I really liked was the King Alistair one. He looked horrible, really horrible, but it was so very nice to hear him and remember just how much more lively the character interactions were in Origins, particularly how much fun Alistair was to be around. It really lifted the game up for a few minutes. Of course, then everything went back to being grim.

It's not fair they made Alistair look so horrible when Cullen looks better than ever (better than any of the other cameos). C'mon.

All the elves in this game look anorexic, and Zevran looked almost deformed. C'mon, in Lord of the Rings, wasn't Legolas the hottest ever? Why did they do this to the elves in this game? I can understand poverty & starvation, but all of them!?

I loved the look of Fenris, except if you could take off his armor, you'd probably see ribs instead of muscle. And just was his obsession with his feet walking bare on stone? lol

I had on my first playthrough with using my Female Noble/Became Queen and got to see Alistair, Zevran, and Leliana. Got a kick out of Alistair calling the Warden the Ball and Chain and having Teagan reprimand him XD

Mostly? No I didn't enjoy the Origins companion cameos because it felt too much like shameless fan service with very little thought into it, like they were just slapped on the game to say they were there.

Would have loved it if they felt part of the story, but they didn't. The only one I thought made sense and was glad to see was Leliana. Zevran had no purpose and neither did Alistair, and Ali looked butt ugly and I loved his look in Origins so it made me sad, I'm thankful for mods.
Nathaniel Howe was okay, he felt tacked on too but the fact that Anders knew him and it was about the darned idol was allright.

This was probably already mentioned, but Alistair referred to my character as "The ball and chain" hahaha. Glad to see their relationship is going so well. O:

I was thinking the same thing too but then I rationalized it by saying that it might have something to do with

a) the fact that he's not as young as he used to be, and

the taint. He has been, after all, a Grey Warden for a while. It could be that it's starting to catch up with him.

But whatever the reason, yeah it was bittersweet seeing him again.

iirc, Alistair is only about 21 when he meets the Warden, and had only been in the order a few months prior to meeting, Cailan was a few years older than Alistair (5 I think) and he looked nowhere near as bad, Alistair had almost the face of a mabari hound.

I was dissapointed with his looks, since Leliana/Cullen and the others (Didn't see Nathaniel due to bug) looked fine, heck even Bann Teagan looked alright minus the hair colour, but atleast Steve Valentine returned to do his voice, Alistair was my favourite companion in Origins and Steve+Gaider's writing solidified it for me.

It's a bug. Importing straight from Origins and not from Awakening or any of the DLCs will get you the proper dialogue in that scene.

I'm so sad to hear the romances are bugged...I haven't met Zev yet, but I imported the warden he was with straight from Origins, so I hope it works. Well, actually, I always imagined my warden as a roamer who was incapable of staying in one place once there wasn't anyone to save/anything to fix, and he and Zev's relationship and being very open, like they might go their separate ways for months at a time. He probably wouldn't mind if Zevran slept with Hawke and/or Isabela, but he'd be a little sad he missed it.
I like the elves in this game, but after Zevran's boot fetish I thought it was amusing that all elves are violently opposed to shoes now. Walking on stone? No shoes. Wading through Maker-knows-what in Darktown? No shoes. Lava in the deep roads? No shoes. And then Fenris has that idle where it looks like he's picking up his feet to see what he stepped in...

Edit: Also, I was annoyed that when Merrill says the Warden was from her clan (which she does if he or she was) you can't comment on that at all. Can't ask what she thinks about that, or what they were like before they became the Hero of Fereldan...

I have mixed thoughts about the cameos. Drunk Alistair made sense (I especially liked when Teagan came to drag him back home), as did Warden Alistair. King Alistair was forced, though I liked the reference to the ball & chain.
I rather liked Leliana's involvement too, and it does seem to hint that she has a future role to play (Cassandra and Leliana as companions in the next game maybe?)
As for Zevran... didn't make a lot of sense, and I didn't like his new look either. Though Anders telling him to back off when he flirted with my femHawke was fun.
Nathaniel was nice to see, though I honestly expected him to be around much earlier since he was supposed to have spent his time in the Free Marches before Awakenings. But then, there are serious timeline problems anyway; Anders is already in the Marches right after the blight is ended, so when on earth did Awakenings take place, and over what time period?
Cullen, I liked. My mage in Origins always flirted with and teased him. I hope he takes Meredith's position as Knight Commander.
