Does magic still improve spellower? Because even though I went max magic with my mage, I didn't see the spells improving.. what gives?

I'm getting increased dmg with my spells.

It does but not as much as you'd think. there's no 'spellpower' as a separate stat anymore. Spell damage is directly proportional to your staff's base damage + attribute bonus (AFAIK).

And since the best staves require a high magic stat...

The magic stat also increases a mage's attack and damage. Damage has an effect on spells.
