Like in DA:O, I'm playing a DW rogue. But in DA:O you could easily shoot-off a few arrows rather easily now and then, and I really enjoyed that style of play. Yet because the ability to quick swap weapon sets has been removed, that playstyle is now a bit too much of a pain, and I'm quite disappointed in that. Has anyone found an okay way to combine archery into a primarily dagger-wielding rogue?

I get that Bioware wished to make the classes and roles more defined, but I have to say the decision to remove quick swapping your weapons is one that makes little sense to me, and ultimately the only result is a bit of a downer for many of us. Worse, the ability for rogues to use either daggers or bows is still allowed, teasing us - if they wanted to force rogues into a specific and exclusive playstyle, they should've simply included stat requirements into bows that are different from daggers.

But no, us rogues are teased with being able to use both bows and daggers, but it's just painfully slow and inconvenient to do so. Why oh why Bioware? Why did you have to do this to us?

Would have been useful, although really it only matters for Hawke, since he's the only one who can change weapon types... and most of the time, there isn't really a reason to. Dragon Age is the kind of game where splitting your character development across multiple "styles" just spreads you too thin to be overly effective.

This said, keeping the weapon-swap option in for the simple convenience of, say, switching between two different swords with two different sets of enchantments, for example, would have been pretty handy. So taking the option out seems a bit silly to me.

Unless you're fighting a group of 2 different types of enemies that have 2 very different immunities or one group right after another with different immunities. This happens constantly.

I miss the quick swap too, and other things from DA:O interface

My favorite character in DAO was combo rogue where I would stealth in for mage killer bow shot and then bring the cavalry while I switched to melee. I took the Arrow of Slaying tree and dumped everything else in stealth and melee.

Is there any way to place the desired weapons into seperate Quickslots a la NWN1?

Wow, so that answers that question. Another screw up by the DA2 developers. Well at least the game looks pretty, that's something...Right?

This. I found the whole quickswapping idea mostly pointless in DAO, which makes it no surprise why it was removed. But in DA2 with the ridiculous cheatish immunities when one group of mercs seem to be fire elementals while another are frost elementals, with not some but TOTAL IMMUNITY to said elements, it makes the need for alternate weapons absolutely mandatory. Relying on elemental weapons on my 2h in Nightmare for example has forced me to dump areas completely only to go somewhere else until I get another 2h with another element. That's until I learned to always keep a physical backup weapon.

Yeah, I miss that option too. There's plenty of battles where ranged weapons for a Rogue are useful - the dragon at the bone pit, for one....

the new combat system would highly benefit from 2 sets, rogues especially but to a lesser extent id love for my Warrior to be able to swap 1h/shield to 2h from time to time, or my mage to be able to swap to a non fire staff when fighting Rage demons...

I would have loved to have seen Quick Weapon Swap back, it helped me out a lot in Origins. I could use my staff to cast spells, then swap to Sword and Shield and get personal Arcane Warrior style to finish off enemies. Even in DA2, it would have been nice to be able to swap between powerful staves such as The Final Thought for sheer power and Falon'Din's (spelling?) Torch for fire damage as the situation called for it.

you found it useless, so its no suprise it was removed?

oh and by the way guys... there was a lot of +% damage to certain elemant items in the game vs the lower but more consitant damage of physical.

i miss swaping weapons too, but immunities are not the reason.

i'd much rather be able to open with the AoE of 2h and drop down to sword and board once i got the aggro, or be able to auto attack from a distance as a rouge or speed things up with dual wield if it was somewhat safe.

I really, really, really miss a quick weapon swap option. :(

For my rogue, I'd like to swap between daggers and bow.

For my warrior, I'd like to swap between 2 hander and weapon/shield.

For my mage, I'd like to swap between different staves.

And for all of them, I'd like a totally new hotbar for each weapon loadout.

PLEASE?

I agree with the OP. I loved in origins that my sword and shield warrior could fire of a quick arrow to hold the enemy in place and shoot him off from afar before i charged in no we cant do it =(

It also makes less logic in-game too. I mean, I can carry all this stuff around but I can't swap to it? Really?

QFMFT this feature is sorely missed, on all classes. :(

Miss it too. I miss being able to have all my team ranged attacks if the need arises...

..of all the decisions. Limiting class abilities and removing second weapon sets is a pretty major limiting factor in gameplay...

I don't really have a problem swapping bow and daggers - sure it would be more convenient to have this set up with a quick swap button, but it's pretty quick to do and not too painless. At least when switching to bow, I just use the shortcut key for inventory, then drag the bow icon onto my character - takes only a few seconds.

The most laborious and annoying thing for me is the fact that I have to keep changing 2 or three pieces of gear every time I check a dead body in order to be wearing something with "better equipment" or "more coin," then I have to change all that gear back when I get into combat.

I'd love to see some kind of mod that allows armor/weapon sets or allows you to drag equipment to the shortcut bar.

It's simply lame that they removed it. Having it would make the rogue so much more fun to play, on many occasions it's better to start off with a bow and then close in for some DW action, and the specialist skills can be used for bow and daggers so that would work well.
