Not sure if people are aware, but the drops more coin runes work upon looting corpses chests/barrels etc.

So you put on your fighting gear and when everyone is a puddle of gore and coins, slap on your drop more coins, give better drops gear and search everything. Tedius, but it makes for nice returns in Act 2/3.

you know what i hate?

Trash loot just for trash loot sake. Especially when it sells for a few copper only.

Also what really annoys me is when i find piles of treasure...and loot more copper worth trash loot and a few silver in coin.

Grrr annoying or what?

On my first playthrough without even completing 80% of all quests I am sure, I had 249 gold as a rogue. Basically what I did was put increased money on different characters, including my rogue, and did pretty good.

Does the party member checking the dead bodies/chests have to be the one wearing the "drops better loot/coin" item?

Don't think so.

  I spent most of the game without ever going below 80 gold, went above 100 a few times and had two huge spending sprees to boot.
 Doing all of the quests in act 1 should get you to 100 easy. Also, sell anything that you're not using and don't bother buying equipment since you'll always find better; particularly if you're using "enemies drop better equipment" items.

I ended Act I on 79 gold...bought nothing, sold most of my equipment, did ALL the quests, looted everything AND have "drop more coins" stuff equipped :/ I'm clearly doing something very wrong!!

Did you pay 50gp to Bertrand, or did you use Dougal's money?

I used Dougal's money...and now he needs to be dealt with XD

Well how you completed quests will make a big impact on your overall gold supply. Heck before you even get into Kirkwall you can get 0g, 2g, 5g or 7g depending on your choices at the entrance. That's 10% of your total haul by the end of the Act off of two choices.

The magistrates son's quest comes to mind, which adds a big fight with a chest at the end if you choose to let him live, versus killing him, thats another few gold.

with equipping runes of fortunes and items with bonuses to finding money and loot do you have to equip those on main char or anyone in party?

For more money, with side quests or maybe quests that have no movies to them, you can pause and have each character talk then hit pause again. This worked for the six finger quest in high town, have not tried it for others yet. For the evil tomes if you pause then click away sometimes you can get 2 or 3 and sell them.

I'm not done yet and I'm at 85, but just like two or three more side quest.  Odd I got the loan shark guy just now, didn't get him in the last playthrough, but I missed alot of missions cause it was my frist.  Maybe it's time based or something?
