Thank you for all those that gave me directions on how to post on this forum.

I've been there with Bioware from day 1.

I have to say that I am extremely ****** about this character storyline.
&
I don't like any of the options.

This is by far the most hurtful storyline I have ever witness in ALL RPG Games.

I was finally given a company. I was saying to myself!! thank you finally and RPG!!!!ER!! HERO!!
That has a Family that is there!!! Fighting by my HERO!! Side alone the way.
I was like:  Thank you!!! Finally someone gets the message. RPG games shouldn't always be!
about THE HERO!! Fights and the Family at HOME majority of the time, or if the Family Fight they fight
for the beginning and thats it or a portion!!.  I was saying to myself, finally!!! Family fighting like me!!

Then Bethany storyline
You all  Created such an magnetic character, possibly the best Companion!!! EVER!
My Sister!!!, what happened to my brother was bad enough!!
Then yet my sister storyline!!! Options!

None is GOOD!

I will continue and always play but I am Highly MAD!! about this!
This makes me take a step back and think differently.

for someone who's been with Bioware from day 1, you had to be pointed to their personal forum and only have 1 game registered

I take it you sided with the Templars.

Regardless, Bethany is still a huge part of the story. She repels a Templar Invasion in Act 3, and joins your party for the final quest.

I really missed Carver when he went off to become a grey warden, but it was either that or let him die outright. :-( Ditto for Bethany.

If the story has affected you to this degree then I think it did a good job.

If she's dead, then no, she doesn't do any of that.

Yes it effected me to a high degree.
It did to good of a job! to the point that it is a negative.

I like Bethany, and she deserved to be a part of the crew the whole time.

You all have many points,

Respects & Blessings to you all

I wasn't pleased with the Bethany/Carver storyline. One sibling dies, one sibling leaves me for the Templars, and my mother dies. I never even get to talk to Carver about our dead mother. Seriously? We've lost everything but one another, that would have been a great time to interact with him.

Then again, the general trend for family members to be death fodder annoys me. They're each find on their own, but I find all three of them together annoying.

Because the quality of a story is based on how many superfluous exclamation points a person sticks in their post.

Oh yeah to answer that earlier statement concerning my game.
Bethany is Dead!!
I'm running 2 SAVES
&
On the second one she's running with the Grey Wardens

I was moved with Carver dying the way he did and with Bethany dying without honor left me a bit on the hostile side, but the way Leandra Death went I felt like I was reading a good story in book and I felt sadness and despair. So far story wise, BW is doing a great job. When a story can bring out the emotions, then U the reader/player can say the story is great.

Yeah, in my first playthrough my choices ended up getting Mother killed and it was a genuinely sad moment.  Hopefully on my second playthrough I make decisions that perhaps spare her or is that a concrete aspect of the story   i wonder?

I, too, was shocked at losing Bethany in the Deep Roads. Bioware certainly did a fine job of creating a memorable character, but I really wish they'd find a better way to generate drama than by killing off your character's family. To me, it's a cheap shot right through the heart.

Please forgive my English.  I never was the best of English speakers.
So please excuse any errors.

Yes the last 3 post since I commented

I agree with all of you.
When I started with this company my hairs were all Black.
Now I have a lot of Greys.

Bethany moved me as well
Bethany for me is the type of character you wish could remain with you the whole time.
Bethany companion is better than all the other companions in my opinion.
Matter fact, Bethany my sister companion is better than majority of the companions in all RPG's.
I love her! love her fighting overall! & I love how during dialogue I can call on Bethany!!

Concerning Bioware:
I finally felt they hit it!

A Family that stays together, and fight through the game together.
Now that was different!! and I bought into this.
I said:  YES!!!! finally, this will work, because if something like this happens for real.
Many of us will be journeying with our Brothers, Sisters, Mothers, Father, Sons & Daughters.
Many us will not always be journeying with perfect strangers that you journey with in MOST RPGs.

With the family aspect I felt a deeper involvement for some reason!!
I felt like I had to protect my blood, my relatives at all cost.
I felt more into the storyline.
That part like Bioware do with all their games is perfection.
The problem this time around, is that you stay Angry! and pissed OFF!!!!

I really would have preferred if they'd let Carver stay with you for the whole game... but hey, their game, their rules. Personally, this is only one problem I have with the companions, the biggest being a lack of people with duplicate ability sets. I had just finished giving Isabela 40 Cunning to open treasure chests, and she betrays me! All of a sudden, I have to do it with Varric, and at that point I could only get him to 30 without totally ruining his specs.

Anyway, Carver disappearing and then showing up from time to time as a teaser kind of sucked... the best possible team for me didn't happen until the very end (Mage, Aveline, Carver, Fenris), but at least he didn't die in the Deep Roads. If I hadn't brought Anders along to heal us, I would have been pretty angry... not to the point of restarting or anything, of course, but this game was an emotional roller coaster. I don't really enjoy those to any extent.

Like I said though, I'm happy Carver at least survived, even though he was still a jerk every time I met him... >.> That one sentence at the very end where he finally thanked Hawke and showed some kindness was pretty cool though.

The whole family business is a big letdown. There is really not much about family in this game. Beth and Carver are just part time companions and you don't really have many quests or things to do with the family. In DA:O if you played human noble origin you had your own family which also died and on top of it you could marry Alistair or anora and basically teagan, eamon, loghain, alisteir's sister etc. became family option. You didn't even have half of that in DA2. City elven also had a family which even made it through the game alive. dwarven noble family is kinda poor since you only got your traitorous brother, but oh well, family.

Respects to everyone

Your right about that Icy

Icy

I do agree with what you stated about Carver

I feel that way about everyone in the family especially Bethany.
I do wish the whole family could of survived some kind of way.

Alex
I agree with your points.
You said a mouth full concerning your views.
I agree

In my game, Bethany was helpful at first, then was taken to The Gallows, and she'd only pop up on occasion. For the most part, she was just a damsel in distress and not overly useful. The only time it was possibly for me to actually put her in the group again was during the final battles.

Okay Jer.

You do not feel the same way about Bethany as I do.
I thought differently of Bethany.

To me she was useful and a piece of good work.
I thought of her as my Sister.

To me
Bethany was extremely useful
She is my favorite of my party as well.
I'm a Warrior type in many MMORPGs I sometimes be a Tank.

I felt differently about Bethany as you do, but that is okay.

In my game, Bethany join Grey Warden and i think this is probably the best option for her. And TBH, i actually like the way story goes because it set up a very great emotion feeling close to my character Hawke than Warden.. well at least for me.

Indeed, what happened with the siblings kind of upset me, to the point of writing my own personal fan-fiction retcon <.<
Though I was pretty upset at first, I kind of began to like it - large parts of the roleplaying on my warrior playthrough were basically Hawke siding with the mages in a ditch effort to improve bethanys life, and possibly bust her out. Needless to say, rejoining with her, and making a last stand for the mages at her side, was one of the most satisfying ingame experiences I've had in a long time.
