Alright, so I'm guessing not. Going to let this thread die and finally pull the plug.

What? I just had to put the game on my old PC due to my laptop going black, now this annoying conversation bug? And I guess that's why I can't get companions to say anything unless I click on them repeatedly? And since my game is patched, no fix in sight,,,
Must get laptop fixed....

The audio issue isn't your laptops fault. Many other are having this issue as well.
Seems like it will take a while, but it'll get fixed.

I just saw there was a 1.02 patch since I gave up playing this because of this bug. I patched the game and am still getting this bug. It's not the same dialog all the time either. On one character I will get the full dialogue then on my other character the same cutscene just jumps right to the dialogue wheel. It doesn't even try to play it, i have sub titles on and it doesn't even show up for me to read.
I pre-ordered this game and I still haven't gotten a game into act 2 because of this bug. Every driver is up to date on my PC, it's a brand new DVD drive and my computer is WELL over recommended specs much less minimum. I would love to be able to actually play this game through at some point.

Is anyone else still having this problem? I never had the save bug (didn't even get the game until after that was resolved) and have been having the same audio problems detailed in the numbered list someone posted on page 2 of this thread. Reloading from a save doesn't seem to help but quitting the game entirely and restarting usually does (for a little while at least).
I was just wondering if anyone has seen improvement since the 1.03 patch. I'm about to test but it sometimes takes hours before I get the bug to begin with (other times it starts the second I launch the game, no discernable pattern on timing).

I'm still missing the first parts of the conversations, however, I've noticed in Act II it isn't as bad as it was in Act I.

Also still getting this. I've tried repeatedly to get the conversation between Hawke and Bethany to fire when you get the papers in the estate cellar in Act 1 and it just jumps straight to dialogue wheel. Talking to Bethany after you deliver the news is doing the same thing, which is annoying because I didn't have her on the last playthrough so I don't have any idea what she would have said.
I don't know if it's giving this bug more or less since the latest patch because I'm playing differently on this character, but I did notice that the "go visit Merrill" chat in her house was doing the same dropped dialogue in both playthroughs; I did get that to work once the first time, though, but that was with patch 1.01, and after trying three or four times this time I just went ahead.

I know that this problem has been happening constantly with all of my characters I create, just to see if it was restricted to either gender or whether I was mage, rogue or warrior but it happens with all of them. Tis most fustrating

I've recently started having this problem on my newer characters. I just went to the first conversation with Aveline in the barracks and it skipped straight to Hawke saying something like "Is that all?" with the dialogue wheel popping up and Aveline apologizes and says she's been watching me. The section where Hawke says hello and gets ignored cut out for some reason. Some of the companion banter is cutting off on the first few lines as well. I've had other scenes cut out as well. Some of them will play right if I save just before the scene and then reload the game, others will just keep cutting out for whatever reason.

I had that problem and I went in and checked "Force Stereo" under the sound options. It fixed the problem for me.

I didn't get any Fenris LI-related dialogue. Also, a couple of times when I first went into game I could not do a normal save, only a quicksave. When I tried to use a save slot the game froze. This never occured over a few playthroughs prior to installing the DLC so it may be related. Later when playing legacy content (past the chance to return to Kirkwall) I was able to use the save slots then.

Forced stereo = no joy here.

Yes, I also have forced on already and still encounter it. Most recently the entire Fenris romance did this to me. Went to his house and it jumped straight to the wheel before I even clicked to talk to him, then went home and it jumped to the wheel again for his visit. Missed all scenes and dialogue that are supposed to happen before the wheel.

I just started getting this problem after installing legacy and the 1.03 patch. It's happened with the dialogue in the hanged man with Varric and Isabella and other companions. Also party banter. Very annoying. I never had the save game bug. I thought at first it was because of the other problems with the 1.03 patch and nVidia(8800 GTX) driver(270) that I have. The stuttering and random crashing. I just save religiously before talking to anyone and reload if it happens. Sometimes that way I get the whole scene to play out. I haven't tried the forced stereo sound yet.

I myself have had this problem and have even posted in on their topic forum for all the bugs for DA2.

Looks like this issue is still going on in patch 1.03

Wow. I can't believe this issue isn't resolved yet. I pre-ordered the game as well, and haven't been able to play the game yet because of this bug. It's only been what....seven months?? How very disappointing. Eighty bucks down the drain.

I also have this issue. Re-installing didn't do a thing.
I eventually plan to start Lets Plays with Dragon Age Origins as well as Dragon Age 2, so I can't really have this issue.
I ran a clean install of the game, no mods, no DLC yet, nothing.

Don't forget that both the 5.1 and the 7.1 selections expect a center speaker, and those typically are skipped on most PC setups (a woofer doesn't count), and the games, many of them, send voices strictly to that missing speaker if you tell the system you have 5.1 / 7.1

I'm sorry, what do you mean? :S
I don't believe that this problem has something to due to with the sound itself, but the animation/cutscenes are missed, like the above picture shows (from bettak) where Bethany is supposed to be asking "Where we would go" after espcaping the main darkspawn horde, but only options show up.
Or does this have something to due with it? Hmm. What selections are you talking about? Sorry, I'm very "derpish", so to speak.

Any assistance or comments, Bioware?
This bug is...rather game-breaking and a solution is really needed to enjoy this game to the fullest extent.
