Hello,
At first I was like: Wow, my character's AI is pretty damn thick when I'm not pulling their strings...
So a couple of my friends play this game & at their place I noticed; HEY! Their player character actually engage in combat automatically!
Now I'm like: WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH MY GAME?!?! Since day 1 they have not functioned [right].
#Reinstallation of the game had no effect...
#Changing tactics (scrapper, defender, healer, damager etc) for the individual characters does not work, altho the mages (player, wynne, morrigan) do attack when they see something. Warriors & Rogues (ranged specs included) do not.
#Changing their combat role (passive, defensive, cautious, aggresive etc) does not affect their behaviour either.
#This issue arrises in new games, saved games, awakening, DLC's & from beginning to end.
#Can coordinate a ranger to attack & it'll auto attack as long as something is in it's line of sight (he doesn't follow targets if they move around), melee i can have 'm run up to a target and do 1 attack & then they stop.
Tanks, Assassins & Warriors (2h/DW) not attacking is ****g stupid! They don't chase enemies, they just... well.. stand there! Something walks by them, in front of them, in melee range... 1 auto attack & done.
Please help, having 2h/DW/melee-tanks is futile at the moment and i've done the game 6 times now without using Ogrhen, Sten, the Dog, Zevran once & using Alistair/FinalChar only to taunt & stand there being pretty (or just have wynne arcane warrior tank & heal... 4x) FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Any idea at all how I can fix?
Thanks a milion in advance,
Kind Regards,
- JW

Maybe you gave them the "hold" command? "H" key. You never know, maybe you forgot about that.
If not... well I had problems like those when I started playing but it got better. Don't have any probs now. Tactics are key. Sorry I'm really tired and won't write much on that, it's a little complicated at first to get into. But you should check and fuddle more with the tactics. When you are ok with the tactics in vanilla, go and install advanced tactics. With that and the right tactics setup for your party, you won't have to do anything lol. Getting a bit boring to be honest. Take your time to get into. Look at the da wiki and search for tactics to get ur hand around that. Hope it helps. I'm sleepy, good night.

Oy Cat, thanks for your response!
Well I did finish the game 6 times, I did run through all tactical possibilities... from fully automated aggresive standard templates, to me telling them exactly what to do (tactic-wise, not controlling them) and they just won't do a damn thing.
I only put them on "Hold" when I wanna run in with my tank first (well prior to the rest of the team engaging), then release "hold" again. Also even on Hold, mages still attack & warriors/rogues still don't. loooool

Have the same problem...
In High Castle (The Beginning for Humans) It all worked fine, the Dog attacked automatic and the mother too, even the servant did.
Now I am in Ostagar and the Dog is Attacking but the Mage and Alistair just stand there and dont even fight back.
Moved the modules Folder away but this is game-cracking if nobody attacks, cant do all alone
Well for me it was the Mod "All Spell Can Learn" that made it...It was increasing the tactic slots and that was somehow compromising my savegame...
Well if anyone uses that one too, try to either disable the mode or get the AI Fix from the nexus...
Again the name of the Mod is "All Spell Can Learn"
