I like a lot of the music in both games. I'll throw in one:

The action music that starts when you get closer to the ruins on Therum. Especially if you manage to get the Mako through that narrow gap instead of continuing on foot.

Shock Trooper: Insufficient space to drive vehicle through. Prepare to cut down enemy as they walk in.

Shock Trooper: Blasted action music...

Credits: Faunts

Ingame: Illos (there is something just so deathly and mysterious about it)

@Sinapus - interesting find about the change of music if the Mako is driven through that gap among the rocks for the last outdoor fight on Therum. Must check it out next time I arrive there. Thanks for the tip. ;)

Fan of several mentioned but will always throw "The Long Walk" from ME2... Love how it starts subdued, but tense, and builds on itself as it gets louder and more frantic.

From ME1, Vigil and it's variants are my faves, along with the C-Sec incidental music. That piece always puts me in a sci-fi mindset, and is what would be going through my head if I were walking around some place like the Citadel.

I thought it just starts up with that music regardless, sort of how you can tell you're getting lost on Virmire when the music starts fading. I was trawling through the wikia pages and found out you could get the Mako through if you tried so I've always taken the Mako with me and never tried going in on foot. Shepard is a scary driver.

I've done the "use Mako as a melee weapon" part with Geth as well. Very Brock Sampson.

Goodwood absolutely loved all the bits where the choir starts really getting into it. Particularly End Run and Suicide Mission, which are tied for first, with the other "endgame" songs tied for second.

I think my favourite piece of music is played on Noveria, when Shepard and team walk around in Port Hanshan looking for ways to get a garage pass. It produces a great atmosphere. It was a rather long time since I visited that place, so I don't remember enough to describe better the music, other than the effect that I wanted to linger in it, and imbibe it fully. Would fit a great movie perfectly.

I was playing the game STALKER: Call of Pripyat (you know, the one where you chase mutated twelve year old girls through the deserted streets of priyat while avoiding radioactive anomalies) and the music playing sounded SO MUCH like that played during the Peak 15 portion of the level.

It was really uncanny...

I still think the best music in Mass Effect ever is the opening theme of the first game, playing over the opening titles and the introduction of Shepard as the Normandy jumps through the relay.

Yup! Same here. The opening theme of ME1 is just so fitting for the game itself.

Actually really liked Ilos' music too, when you first land.

Hm. Seems to be the same music regardless. Saved the game, marched through the gap on foot and the music started up just like it did when I send the Mako careening through the gap. Muahahaha.

Wish I could find the music for that scene from Venture Brothers where Brock starts slaughtering the Monarch's henchmen with his car. ("THEY HIT ME WITH A TRUCK!!!")

Haven't tried STALKER. Sounds like there's some good music in it. ;)

@Sinapus - pity about the Mako thing. Would have been fun if Bioware had planted some other piece of music for a different experience there.

Hands down the most epic music in all of video games imo. The only thing that may top it is the Halo soundtrack, or maybe the Starcraft II music. But I honestly don't even think that they do.

It has to be Suicide Mission. Clint Mansell is going to have hard time trying to bet that!

ME:  The End (Reprise)
ME2:   The  Lazarus Project
ME2:   The Normandy Reborn
ME2:   The End Run
ME2:   Suicide Mission (though its very similar to The End Run).

If we count ME2 DLC soundtracks as well then I would have to add all of the Kasumi DLC & LotSB DLC music

My favourites are Normandy reborn and Spectre induction. At that time you can also concentrate on the music since there isn't any shooting action going on. The music creates the feeling that these are two special moments. Out of the disco music, I prefer the lower level in Afterlife.

My favorite is hands down the title theme from ME2 "Suicide Mission". So much that I made a rock version of it!
