Emotionally draining?

So many bad things happened in this game. Your mother gets murdered, if you take merrill's quest all the way you end up killing the clan that you could  have belonged to in Orgins, and you have to choose either between the mages who seem to be nuts or the templers whose commander is even more crazy.

Dragon age  orgins was called dark but it's not as dark as dragon age 2.

Opinions?

Agreed. Ridiculously emotionally draining. At least Origins had some humor to it. All we got this game was the occasional comment from your companions while you were walking around.

Hey, at least Bioware can really say this is more or less a dark fantasy fraught with tough decisions. I know I had moments where I was literally just staring at the screen since I wasn't sure what the hell I should do. It made me think, which I can definitely appreciate.

but could you play it again and again knowing what's going to happen and can do nothing out it?

I played two runs in a row, so I think I can handle it.

I enjoyed it. But I do think it won't be for everyone.

On my 2nd playthrough, even reloaded scenes to do the douchebag moves, which were powerfully accurate.

If it's too much for you, take it in small bites. Some of us are numb to drama from too much TV, books, and other games. It's why some people like horror movies and others don't. It's okay!

Storyline-wise, and gameplay-wise. DAII was a much different animal than DA:O. DA:O had a much more epic scope, whereas DAII was confined to a single City(and outlying areas). DA:O allowed you to use diplomacy for peaceful resolutions. DAII had no diplomacy mechanics. Storyline-wise, I preferred DA:O. I think that Bioware tried to make both sides flawed. Both Meredith and Anders were insane, but in their own ways.
For me, I sided with Anders near the end of the game, for no other reason than he was the only healer. I was kinda pissed that Fenris turned on me, because he had all my nice fighter equipment.

I thought it a bit confusing given that you wipe out the elves and Merrill doesn't say a whole lot about it after it's done. Also Hawke was pretty p***ed at Anders but that really did not go anywhere either. The way that the first enchanter wigged out made me feel like I had made the wrong decision.

I will say that some of the decisions made me pause and have a good think about how it should play out. On my second run through it, I will be doing a lot differently I think.

Seriously, by the time Act 3 came the only one of my companions who wasn't completely miserable was Aveline, and thats just because she was gettin some.

I love the emotional stuff  even though I end up in tears XD

btw, if you don't want to kill Merril's entire clan then click the "I'll take all responsibility" option. It saves the clan

Edited for massive fail -_-'

I rather enjoy it. Rather then showing everything as rainbows and happiness it shows how life usually hits it's low spots. Are there a lot of the min Hawke's tale, yes maybe more then in a normal life but I find it a bit more interesting with them actually instead of in Origins there might of been only a few handfuls or so while the rest you could avoid if you knew how to. So I rather like it, gives a different twist to the DA universe.

I like my heroes to suffer loss, it builds the character makes them more human. And I like my stories to be dark, it makes the light at the end of the tunnel all the more satisfying. With that said I think Hawke suffered too much especially concerning his/her family. There are some truly evil people at BW to force one of your siblings to die because of a class choice and then unavoidably lose the other, one way or another, to unforseen circumstance and then brutally murder Hawke's mother. I mean they could of at least allowed us to keep around one of our siblings. Would that of been too much to ask?

Wait. What? Gamlen has a daughter? This is news to me. I thought I did everything on my first playthrough... apparently not.
