im not sure where to put this post so ill try here. Somewhere in the middle of Act II (ive really noticed it in the all that remains quest) the attacks of hawke have suddenly slowed down to a crawl and im not sure whats going on. its not a graphic issue cause the rest of the characters are moving fine and if i start a new warrior his attacks are also normal but for some reason his sword swings are so slow that he barely gets attacks in and his combat effectiveness has plummeted since he takes more damage than he dishes. is anyone else having this problem and if so do you know how to fix it? my talents are in 2handed, vanguard, beserker, pommel strike, and one point in reaver for the damage bonus.
anyone with 2handed warrior hawke getting really slow in act 2

Try respecing to get cleave and second wind, at that level I think you can still keep whirlwind. WIth these abilities you can always crit every swing, and one whirl wind will pretty much kill everything instantly, then second wind will stamina you up to do it again.
For those in between times just spec your rogue or mage to give you a bit of defense or crowd control, then kill them all again with massive auto crits.

Did Bethany had Haste in ACT I? If she does and you do not have another mage with Haste in the party ie Anders, that might be the reason why his normal attacks are slow.

no none of my mages have haste although hawke does have the barrage talent. but after cruising all the forums it seems that this is a combat bug rather than a build problem, hawkes attacks get progressively slower to the point where hes unplayable

It's a known problem and isn't related to just warriors. Bioware is looking into it, and some people are posting patch up fixes that are possible with save editor. Look through this thread:
