realise ?

They knew all along they were compiling rubbish ...thankfully due to myself and like minded people spreading the word....this didn't turn out to be another EA cash cow.

How about giving me freaking useable camera on the PC version instead of a Anders hitting on me every other adventure we go on? Is that too much to ask? This is exactly what is BS. You cannot even lauch the game properly and yet you waste dev time wiith this garbage. Whether or not you have different teams of people working on different things I don't care. What I do care about is I have no workable camera which I do want, and a bunch of useless gay content I couldn't care less about.

Doesn't surprise me bioware is reaping the whirlwind on this one with many reviewers. Priorities-- get them straight.

That is exactly right it is funny that they had all this extra time to throw in this garbage while they cut corners on everything else. Then again maybe I am just getting old and this new generation would rather romance male npcs instead of being able to change their friggin armor .......

Realize ?

I'm sure they knew to some degree, but they mostly go by presales, mostly...I'm sure it still made a huge chunk of money. Money that is probably needed to hopefully make DA2 expansion or DA3 much more in depth and less mechanical flaws.

LOL these people who think they've moved past some great judgement on this game that's been agreed on by the whole community. Quite the opposite, there are a lot more people that love this game and don't want any change. Funny how all the blogs on DAO yielded some cool things to be added to DA2 that were never added, DA2 is not going to change for you, with it's DLC nor a sequel. Get used to it, or go back to p&p because Skyrim will just be another hack/slash as will Dungeon Siege, Gothic 5 and Final Fantasy XXXXLVIIIVCIIVI.

I would like to first start off by commending Bioware for being socially progressive in DAO and DA2, and having the balls to provide the option of pursuing a gay/bi relationship if they choose. I cannot recall off the bat in the past couple years if there have been any other gaming studios doing this?

"The balls."

As if the Western world wasn't basically gripped by homomania where even the slightest hint of criticisism towards homosexuality or gays is like travelling to the 16th century and announcing you're a witch. BioWare is taking a very safe and well-travelled path.

Most gaming studios are not offering gay/bi romances because most gaming studios are not making dating sims.

Again, thank you Bioware for having the balls to make a game appeal to EVERYONE.

Yes, appealing to the lowest common denominator takes incredible courage.

I was honestly stunned when I realized that all LI, barring Sebastian who's a little punk anyway, were avaliable to everyone regardless of preference. And then I said to myself, "why the hell not?" Why shouldn't every player be able to experience the story in a way that is relavant to them?I doubt Bioware set out to make some kind of big statement, but that only makes it all the more powerful.

I'll add that it's also gratifying to see how small the group of people are who
somehow feel threatened by others being able to make a choice.  Their numbers are shrinking everyday. Reminds me of one of my fav DA quotes:

"Change is coming to the world. There are some who fear change
and will fight it with every fibre of their being. But sometimes, change
is what they need the most. Sometimes, change is what sets them free.

This aspect of the game was quite refreshing. I'll leave it at that.

They're not appealing towards Christians, actually, so I'm not sure what that statement was meant to imply.

Also, I'm pretty pissed when video games allow a white character to have romantic relationships with black characters. Suddenly, when you point out how wrong it is, you're painted as a bad guy. Grats, America, for being trapped in a mongrel making culture.

Man, take some 4chan trolling lessons so you're not so obviously being a moron on purpose. This isn't Landover Baptist.

i've no problem with gay romances, bioware can do as much as they like. i want one, tiny, not chaste straight romance for a female, one guy who doesn't grieves for his dead BF or start pickup lines with males. one, please? consider me a sexual minority, please, and grant me among the crowd of bi's one straight guy.

I was not aware DA2 is some sort of dating sim....good job as labeling it as that. I see it as any other rpg game that has the ability to include relationships, which is such a small part of the game overall. Whether a game is a "dating sim" or not is completely besides the point of my thread anyways. It's about the fact that this particular gaming studio has made something for all players, regardless of their orientation.

Yes, it does take balls to do that, imho. When have you seen another gaming studio in history do this? If any of them did this when games 1st started being made, the general public would have been in an uproar, even if it was just a few years ago....apparently some still are, thankfully a select few...

Wow, there is a lot of nasty hate in this thread. Of course it is all right for gay people to have straight romances shoved in their face all of the time in games, but when it is the other way around? It's the end of the world, right? /sarcasm

Thank you OP, for your wonderful post and for remaining so polite in the presence of all these hateful posts to your thread.

As if, say, Super Mario is not for all players because it has no gays in it. And by your logic DA2 is not for all players, since there's no shortage of groups that it does not specifically cater to.

In Fallout 2 (1998) you could hire prostitutes of your character's gender or marry an NPC of your character's gender. Jade Empire (2005, by BioWare) had gay romance options in it. But romances are something of a BioWare oddity, and not a staple of CRPGs. Other CRPGs don't have gay romances because they don't have romances at all. And because developers, by and large, have little interest in creating gay content.

Yes, it is perfectly alright to have lots of heterosexual content in games. Because heterosexuals are the overwhelming majority.

Intolerant heterosexuals are also a minority.  By your own logic, BioWare should not take your opinion seriously either.

LOL. That is awesome, very smart and witty.

On a sidenote, how did you upload your Hawke Avatar? When I go to change my photo it only shows DAO stuff, not that I really want to change this one anyways

Oh, so what you're saying is that a very small minority should dictate things, and that everything should be done according to their wishes? Can you explain why you hold this belief?

I don't mind the all bi thing, personally. Save for Anders and Isabela, you don't even have to acknowledge it. It's unrealistic, but I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch over a small stretch of the imagination when it comes to a few videogame characters.

More choices for more players is how I see it.

The reason I won't respond to anymore of your posts is because I have seen the kinds of things you write in other threads. Not only that, you style so has been that you seem to love to put words in other peoples mouths, just like you are attempting to do with my post above. I'm not saying anything, as I said above. Won't feed you anymore.
That and coming from the person who says... "Pedophilia is not child abuse, it's only a sexual preference"...shows a 2nd reason why I will not even waste my time with you.

I liked the part where you specified what words I had put into your mouth. Oh, wait... that part doesn't exist.

It is a simple fact that pedophilia, by itself, is not child abuse. You cannot refute this.
