Okay, so I went back and did some testing and it seems I put too much credit in Bioware's tactics. ~_~

It's true with my setup that it'll only use the ability when the conditions listed are met, but it won't necessarily target the right enemy.

For example, in a fight I just did to test the Crushing Prison thing, there was an Elite and a few normal dudes.

With this setup:

Enemy: STAGGERED | Use current for next
Enemy: Rank Elite+ | Use: Crushing Prison

If any enemy nearby was Staggered, she'd use CP on the Elite.

WIth this setup:

Enemy: Rank Elite+ | Use current condition for next
Enemy: Staggered | Use: Crushing Prison

If there was an Elite nearby, she'd use it on anything that got Staggered.

I suppose I never noticed it before because she does get it right a certain percentage of the time and doesn't use it if both conditions aren't met. If you're only fighting one thing (like a boss), she'll also get it right 100% of the time.

ye the prob seems to be that there is nothing to stop a target swap between the 2 tactics. this could be simply remedied by adding a tactic slot number into the self/enemy slot so e.g.

1: Enemy: Rank Elite+ | Use current condition for next
2: 1: Staggered | Use: Crushing Prison

dont think this would be to hard to implement.

Im not quite getting what step 13 in your first example would be good for. You always skip the next step this way, right? And the problem targeting staggered enemies out of close range is still present.

1: Any Condition you want -> skip to tactic 13
.
.
.
12: Self: Any -> Skip Tactics
13: Enemy is at mid Range to Far Range (dont know the exactly spelling of this condition) -> Skip Tatcitcs
14: Enemy is Staggered -> use-the-skill-you-want-to

I try to explain:

1. is the referrer to your seperated section of tactics. put in here sth like: enemy rank elite or higher if you want to make your the skill you use in 14 ONLY against elite or higher ones.

12 is to seperate your "section" from the rest of your tactics, nothing more.
13. This is a next checkup. if your enemy is in close range or in close to mid range, nothing will happen and you go to step 14. if your enemy is in mid-far range it will skip and nothing happens.
14 is using your skill

a example i made for my tank. I wanted Bravery to turn off automatically when only 1 or none enemy is next to my tank, because its useless by only 1 enemy. Theres no condition who says: surrounded by only 1. so i had to "build" one. Here my trick

considering 11-14 are the last slots of my tactic slots

11: Surrounded by at least 2 enemys ->skip tactics
12. Self: any -> deactivate Bravery
13. Enemy Rank: Boss or Higher -> Skip Tactics
14. Self: Any ->Deactivate Shield defense

11 ->What happens: he is checkig if there are at least 2 or more enemys around me? no? so there is only 1 or no enemy around me. so it continues. if there are 2 or more enemys around me, it skips.
12 -> Deactivation
13. -> Sield defense is not needed against only 1 or no enemy, it should be deactivated to, only exception: If i am fighting a boss, shield defense is needed. So: if the enemy is a boss or elite boss, tactics skips now, if not, go ahead to 14.
14 -> Deactivation

Now you got for what the "skip Tactics" section could be used for?

Yup tried this too and same here (of course). A working way could be a separate "staggered section" at the end of the tactics list right after the enemy>any:attack. Sadly this only works in theory atm, because jumps dont work as intended if Rehwyn is right. I will check this and report back soon.

[1] Enemy>STAGGERED : jump to [4]
[2]...
[3]Enemy>any : attack
// staggered section down here - cant be reached without jump due to 3:
[4] Enemy>STAGGERED : use condition for next tacitc
[5] Enemy>Elite or higher : crushing prison

This way we make sure we only get into the staggered section when there are staggered enemies present. So 4 will always equal true and we have our desired combination. Crushing prison will only be used against staggered elites or higher.

Interesting this is how i set up my tactics yesterday i didn't get to test it properly though.

So the "bugs" prevent us from setting up tactics in a way they could help us to make fights more fluent (just as they want us to play... considering that COD kids are to like this too ;) ). I really hope they soon release a patch fixing this. As far as I remember DAO had some problems with tactics too in the beginning.

I spent some time trying to figure this out as well...I don't know why the way I set up my tactics won't work.

I have:

.
.
.
[5] Enemy > STAGGERED --> Jump to 9
.
.
[8] Self > Any --> Skip Tactics
[9] Enemy > Rank Elite or Higher --> Chain Lightning

The assassins with longer bars count as elites, right, since that's what I've been testing tactics on, lol. I even tried adding various use current conditions for next at position [9] before telling it to chain lightning, but it still doesn't work.

Edit: The way I have it set up, it's not that Merrill switches targets, but that she doesn't cast chain lightning at all, even when there are obvious targets that are staggered.

Some posts above someone mentioned that jumps are broken currently so no jump is performed at all. Instead, the list continues as usual from top to bottom tactic. So if this is correct I guess 8 does just avoid checking 9.
