Its all very intriguing what DA II sets up rather then resolves at the end. I think it would quite interesting if DA III had you playing between Hawke and the HoF switching between the two. That would just be interesting design wise as it would be story wise.

So what do you think about DA III or a DA II Expansion set up and execution? What do you think will happen with it?

I dont think the Warden will return at all... because there are so many origins. I think Hawke will be the center of story after Dragon Age II

As I thought too about the Warden, there are many variations with the Warden, yet after the events in both games and the Origins DLC I think he is a variable that cannot be ignored. Even if the HoF died doing the Ultimate Sacrifice, the Warden-Commander is the substitute b/c who do you play if your warden was dead? The WC would taken up the reign in the HoF stead.

Neither. DA3 will take place in Tevinter and both Warden and Hawke are cameos. You'll play a powerful Magister who tries to take over Thedas again to establish the dominance of Magic and the destruction of the Orlesian Chantry while simultaneously dealing with the Qunari.

DA3 is either the next hero for the take-down Flemeth squad or when the Warden and Hawke actually take Flemeth down.

So I have to be a mage now?

But then how would playing a Warrior or a Rogue figure into playing a Magister since they are only powerful mages.

Arcane warriors or mages who use daggers for more than blood magic

I doubt it, considering how
a) the Warden may well be dead for many people (Ultimate Sacrifice)
B) It would be awkward to play a whole game with a level 20+ protagonist and it would be dumb if they did a "Shepard back from the Dead" skill wipe

Personally I want to continue the way Bioware have been going: New region/Protagonist with every game with the central character being Thedas itself (and Flemeth)

Hints from DA2 are pointing to the next game being in Orlais, which intrests me

No, you can also play on the side of the Orlesian Chantry or the Qunari. If you're Qunari you won't be a Mage, so it balances out.

All 3 endings (Tevinter Victory, Chantry Victory, Qunari Victory) will be possible.

I would love it if DA3 took place in Orlais, but I can't say I don't fantasize about my Warden coming back. I think a time skip would be a legitimate reason for a character overhaul (like in Mass Effect 2) - people change over ten years, and maybe the Warden got out of shape, haha.

It'd probably be easier for them to import Hawke straight in, and have you recreate the Hero of Ferelden. I'm not gonna take the stance of "this is what DA3 will be!" But it is a dream.

Part of me also think that maybe some of DA3 will take place during DA2 - mostly because of the thing with running into the Wardens at the end of Act 2. They say something big is going on, so they can't afford to become involved, but they can't tell you what.

I think it is totally possible. Bioware broke a trend with DAII with the framed narrative approach. They also broke RPG trends with Mass Effect with all the games being influenced and molded to the decision you made in the previous game as well as a VO main character that is full of diverse responses for the most part. (Yes I know ME isn't the game with a VO main character in an RPG)

Who knows though right? I'd be a design challenge sure but I believe Bioware can accomplish it.

Both Hawke and the Warden were killed by Flemeth, the Chantry and the Circle fought a bloody war that wiped each other out, Flemeth is now the most powerful person in Thedas and cannot be stopped, and can continue whatever the heck it is she's planning.

If we have to play a new character, for the love of god, let's be allowed to be more original in our characters like in DAO. (Not being sarcastic, friend.)

It would also be interesting to play as a new character in the 'dark times' described by Cassandra, but I'd rather find out what happened to Hawke and the Warden. With the multiple variations of the fate of the Warden to deal with it would be a challenge to develop a universal starting point for him/her but I believe Bioware can pull it off. Plus the WC can always take the place of a HoF who made the ultimate sacrifice.

New PC with Warden and Hawke as companions!! (But it will be a huge problem RP wise...)

Or let the player play both sides and use the story to switch in between, I had played games like this before, it's pretty nice but I doubt it is BW's style.

Just want to point out that you shouldn't use the word Jihad if you don't know what it means. Before making all your assumptions on a word because of what you hear on the news, look up its meaning first. As a muslim, I find it offensive that you use that term in a derogatory  way.

Now, to be on topic. I don't feel the HoF or Hawke will return in the flesh again. Mentioned, perhaps hinted at, maybe even shown in bone/ashes form, yes. But I don't think they'll make another appearance, for many reasons, mainly because everyone's Hawke and HoF looked different and I doubt the new engines that will probably come out will be able to import them properly and also the fact that the HoF can be many different races and can't speak.

But also I feel that their disappearance plays a vast role in the story and bringing them back would diminsh this role. Basically will all the 'heros' gone, Thedas has no one to turn to when things turn sour..a perfect opportunity. for a NEW hero to arise.

I think it would be rather hard to work in the warden even for an insignificant cameo, considering he/she has no voice, multiple backrounds, and an alarmingly large number of possible outcomes. hell I found Awakenings to be rather sketchy considering my newly proclaimed Bann of the Alienage abandoned the people who he was supposed to be representing to take command of a fortress that another grey warden could've easily controlled.
