do you get anything special for destroying all the books in the forbidden knowledge quest? or is it a better deal to just get the 2 attribute points?
what do you get for destroying all the books?

If I remember right, if you destroy them all, you actually complete the quest, whereas if you do not, I believe the quest simply sits in your Journal there and you never get the EXP for completing it? Correct me if I'm wrong..!

Destroy the 5 books, then read the last one, and you'll complete the quest AND get something.

make sure you are reading the last opened book that looks different from all the others and is on a pedastal though, or you'll miss out on that good loot from the demon.

A mighty thank you to Aesieru and Lulong, I had a feeling there was a way to go about it, I just hadn't done it yet. You guys had made it far easier for me to do! Too bad I'm on the playthrough where I've chosen to be just and good and not give in to demons..
My rogue was dark and evil, kept the tomes alive and sold them (was hoping to get more demonic buffs by taking the tomes, too bad that didn't happen) - Too bad that actually -does- break the quest (if you take the tome, you cannot complete the quest, it sits there irritatingly) and makes it unachievable.

If you want rivalry with Merrill take her along when you destroy them for 10 rivalry each book.
I would guess shes gives 10 friendship if you read or keep them too but havent tried that.

No friendship from Merill for keeping the books. I had her in my party the whole time while doing those quests - I kept them for later, but no friendship points.

you only get friendship from Merrill from the first book you encounter. The rest are rivalry only.

If you destroy all 5 books then destroy the last you fight the Demon Xebenkeck and a horde of other demons. Probably one of the hardest fights in the game. She drops a pretty beast blood mage staff.
