now thats a mission worth playing ,holy shiite, and if the Hero needs a voice is got to be something like the wardens.
Man I can wait to be done with this sorry excuse of a game, delete it and replay Origens for the fifth time.

I read somewhere this is considered canon? Is it true?

supposedly this is the story of Justice's host body and how he came to be...well, dead.

The voice actor for that Grey Warden was terrific... would have loved him to be the voice of Hawke.

I was just thinking the exact same thing. Hawke with that voice would definitely have been a serious improvement.

Something I've never quite understood is why Bioware have never gone all the way with the "dark fantasy" idea despite both DA:O and DA2 being already (in the UK at least) 18 rated adult games. Its not like their going to get pushed into a rating above adult.

This video series (I'd encourage people to watch the whole lot) demonstrates how a darker and more serious tone can be achieved using the same technology. Just from the point of view of visual style and atmospheric tone I think the franchise could learn a lot here.

Skip to 4 min mark and watch until the end.

By the way! Anyone know why they aren't continuing anymore? EA pressure them? :police:

There is more story telling and compelling intrigues in those 4 episodes than my 35 hours of play in DA2 - that is amazing.

How I would love to see the DA universe become as gritty and dark as this.

This is what I miss the most about the DA series. DA:O came close at
times, but DA2 seems like a big joke in most of the situations you are
in.

Get it dark and dirty. For some reason BioWare cant see the
difference between being an emotionless bastard and being an idiot. If
you want to play "evil" then you just sound like dimbwit most of the
time. These videos captures exactly what I would love to see when
playing a character that has made a life out of killing.

Around 40-50 hours of Dragon Age 2 gameplay could not match up to 8 minutes and 28 seconds of this.

Sad, but true.

I also thought this was an awesome display of what creative folks can accomplish, when I first saw this months ago, I had hoped that DA2 would be something like this. However, once we learned what DA2 was actually going to be like, I adjusted my expectations, I am guessing many people who saw this did not.

Have faith, Bioware can out perform this, and they will.

If I was high up in Bioware I'd make it a priority to find who these guys are and hire them. And as a player I'd pay hard cash to play such DLC.

It was cool... but

No offense meant, but this reminded me how much of an improvement the artstyle and graphics of DA 2 are over DA:O

As for the story, it was good.... but Oscar worthy? I mean if this is what makes you tingle, all the more power to you... but as a person who's watched a lot of movies and fantasy tv shows... I've seen this all before.

Quite good! But comparing this cut-scene film to the game seems rather premature or immature; dealer's choice.

Obviously telling a story through a movie (cut-scenes) is more gratifying than having a whole game to populate with stories. But, that said I would have loved to see DA2 with an epilogue like this. Dark, gritty, less heroic emo ****.

Brilliant, haden't seen these before.. They thank Laidlow and Gaydar in their creditss, so im gonna make the assumption the developers of DA2 knew this sort of stuff was out there.. and yet they still went for the crappy direction they eventually did.. maybe it was too late by then or they just didnt give a damn but wow.. these amateur dudes blow the "pros" out of the water

I dunno, taking some cues from these fellas or outright hire them for DA3 if it ever comes out

This movie is very good, but:
  • This is scripted move on DA:O engine, it's not a game.
  • This is just small part of another story (if there is a whole story at all).
  • It can't be compared with DA:O or DA2. Let them make their own game with combat and hundreds of different dialogue scenes, than we will talk again.

People say that made DA2 dialogue look rubbish, it made DA:O dialogue look rubbish...maybe that's because it was made to be episodes and not an actual game?
LOL

They need to start adding cutscenes like this.
