Ok it doesn't work.
I create a texture and using an old one. Then I exported it (DDS DX5).
Called it hf_arm_wrba_0d.dds.
I create a path folders art/.../humanfemale/textures and put the file in. At last I draged and droped the folder into gibbed stuff to create the .erf

What I did wrong ?

Hi, I'd like to substitute final thought skin with the one of the parthalan staff.
I found the model of final thought (w_stf_st105a) and I substituted it with parthalan's one (w_stf_001a), put it in override but nothing happens. I followed the instruction precisely but I don't know what I am doing wrong

@Kaorinazuki: Are we talking about the same Bethany robe? Apart from that I can't tell where you went wrong. I did the same with Aveline's armor and it worked just fine.

Dear Adonnay,

I'm talking about the warden the one which is blue, grey and brown code 1021 tho.
One more thing I can tell you it's not a body but 3 parts chest, gloves and boots.

Can you tell me how you did with Aveline's armor ?

I just updated an alternate method for those of you having trouble with swapping item models in the items_variations file list.

This is much easy if your just looking to edit the items appearance for a current playthrough cause you want a specific look.

Check my original post for the this much simpler way.

Hm...I tried your second method out, but it seemed to not only replace the model, but the weapon entirely.

I was trying to switch the models of two daggers into long swords. Using the first method, I just loaded to find invisible weapons in their place (but I now realize that's because I neglected to change the path above the model ID. Of course it's going to be invisible...it's looking for a longsword model ID in the dagger folder. Testing now, but I expect it to work just fine) (EDIT: SUCESS! Probably the closest I can get to dual wielding swords like in DA:O, but it works).

Using the second method, replacing the identifier beside templatesref completely changed the weapon, though I was able to have both equipped.

My character was then fighting with two blades as if they were a sword in shield. Minor animation glitches aside, it looked sort of cool, but as his attacks had changed to reflect the new weaponstyle, I was locked out of all dual-wield abilities.

Checking the equipment screen revealed I had indeed changed the item entirely, and not just the model. Is there another Templatesref under the category of equipped weapons that I might have missed?

Ah yes I see the problem your having guess I should have tried a few more item variations. Strangely enough when I edited in gen_im_npc_wep_dua_aria and gen_im_npc_wep_dua_arib, which are the Arishoks weapons my weapons didn't change their stats at all and remained daggers. This is because I was using daggers and luckily for me the Arishoks weapons must be classified as daggers. Basically your Templateresref change must draw from the same resource folder.

I'll be sure to update this on the guide. Guess that just slipped my mind.

Ah yes based on what I saw in the item_variations file it should be a fairly simple matter to utilize the Bethany warden armor for just about anything I can think of. Although I'm not exactly sure what you were discussing with Adonnay. If you let me know some of the details though I'll try to help.

Sorry to respond so late, but if your having trouble swapping items that happen to be in the same resource location like the staff art folder I'd recommend method 2, which I recently added to my original post.

I was discussing with a guy dragon age nexus who has the same problem.
I will go forward here if I find anything about it.

If you mean this robe the texture you're looking for is hf_rob_appa_0d.dds (along with the _s, _n and _t maps). The gloves and boots are actually part of the robe and there doesn't seem to be a matching hood since Bethany doesn't wear one anyway.

Edit: I just screwed with the hue settings to show I actually replaced the texture... green hands do certainly not look healthy.

bleh ... It's not this one.
It's a blue one with mail (silver) and brown for leather.the code of this one is 1022 and it's a robe.
The one I'm looking for is an armor.

Can you post a screenshot? Not sure what you mean with item code.

Edit:
Taken the name I'd try "hm_arm_wrba_0d.dds" in the "art\\characters\\playercharacter\\humanmale\\textures" subfolder. I assume that the textures for male and female version are identical, that's why there's no explicit female version of the texture.

Well yeah, that's definitely the texture I told you above... hm_arm_wrba_0d.dds in the art\\...\\humanmale\\textures folder.

I never got Beth to join the wardens so I didn't stumble across that armor yet :D

I'm confused because it's a female armor since it's betha's one ...
And it didn't answer to my question ... I don't know where are these textures.

Filenames:
hm_arm_wrba_0d.dds
hm_arm_wrba_0n.dds
hm_arm_wrba_0s.dds
hm_arm_wrba_0t.dds

Yes, it is "hm" even if the armor is female. I guess it was supposed to be the texture for a male armor and then later on changed? I don't know.

Edit: Oh, they're in ARTFP.ERF if you need that also.

How did you know that ? I mean ...
When I extract textures from ARTFP.ERF I have some hexa name like z_e0233c875xxx.dds ...
Is there anything to do to get the "real" name of the textures ?

That's no magic, there's an additional download for the GFF Editor with the correct filenames. All credits to tazpn, Thought Process, 4Aces and Mephales.

I'm having an issue trying to item swap. Maybe someone with more experience can give me a hand? I usually only play fem chars and really like Meredith's hood. thinking it would look neat on my champion armor, I replaced column 7 for champion's helm in the item_variations with hf_har_mere. This worked for replacing the rogue champion hood, and even the mage one (once I figured out which generic hood the mage one was - Boo lazy bioware, not giving the mages a 'special' hood.) For the warrior one, though, when I select show hood, it shows Hawke with a buzz cut and no helm. Any ideas?
