Judging from the forums, people are encountering issues with Merrill's quest lines. I've just encountered an... oddity myself and I'm not sure whether it's a bug or working as intended.
So I've just finished the Night Terrors side quest and took Merrill into the Fade with me. After finishing that quest, I received two quests to speak to Merrill at home: An Apology and Questioning Beliefs. When I go to her house and talk with her, I receive the dialogue for the An Apology quest.
After completing that one, Merrill defaults to her "By the dread wolf why is my house so messy" speech every time I visit her, even though I have a quest in my journal Questioning Beliefs that directs me to speak with her. I get no active quest icon over her house on the map or over her person inside her house.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Does it work itself out and I just need to progress some other quest or storyline to trigger that quest dialogue despite its presence in my journal or is this a bug?

Seems like a patch-wothy overlap of quests. You should try to finish the "Night Terrors" quest either before or after you got "Questionate believes"

I had this happen to me with Anders and a "Questioning Beliefs" quest that didn't do anything. He had the active quest marker over his head though in my case, but he wouldn't speak to me.

I'm struggling with the Merrils Questioning Quest in Act 3 after here trip to see the sprirt. She's in the hows but there is no quest marker and i can't get her to talk to me. This is only outsiding quest before i move on with the main story
