LOL! That's sounds like an infectous disease you'd get quarantined for on a starport.

Well the cool part worked.  The Qunari looked much better in DA2 than in DA.

I think if Sten was in DA2 (our Sten), then he'd have horns. It was an art change, and I'd really rather them include Sten in the redesign and not try to make some sort of half-race to explain a development change in art direction.

I agree that it is a case of the Klingons.

I knew I should have brought my tribbles to the Arishoks compound!

Yeah, it was a ret-con. But it was a good one. I mean throughout Origins I was constantly wondering if the Qunari were and actual race, or just tall humans. Now it's easy, plus it kinda makes sense what with the Ogre's having horns.

Ogres are Qunaris after being exposed to the taint. Genlock were dwarves; hurlocks humans. So yeah, it is a retcon trying to make a more visual connection between the qunaris and the ogres.

BioWare was looking for a new "catch" to cram into DA2's one-shot "badass" trailer.

The answer is simple. It makes them look awesome and distinct. It gives their race a lot more personality than just "tall guys."

Theory...... Maybe they have to earn the right to have horns or perhaps ist like the Star Trek Klingon thing in the Org Series they didnt have forhead ridges and in all other series they did ... the lack of was a diease mutation that dissolved the ridges... so maybe Sten had a diease or the warrior scouts dont have them or like i said they must earn them or go thru puberty maybe lol

I sort of wondered why the Arishok's horns were so much bigger than everyone else's. Is he the Arishok because his horns are larger? Because horn size seems like a pretty arbitrary thing for the Qunari to value. Maybe he was just born with more Qunosterone or something. Image IPB

In Origins Sten speaks, and everyone speaks fo the Qunari as if of a different race, and yet all they appear is as large taller than average humans.

Add to that they use same weapons, same equipment, and there is no real distinction, nothing to set them really apart from humans.

I think they went this direction becasue they needed to portray them as truly foreign, menacing and exotic. They added horns, body markings, and finally created a unique array of weapons, armor.

To each his own, I guess. If you liked Sten, you are more likely not going to enjoy the changes done. If you dreamed of him as a possible romantic in the future, or seeing him again, it wrecks expectations somewhat.

For me, I actually think it was positive change.

I don't know answer to this question but I really LOL'ed.Image IPB

Of course my dirty little mind also wandered to other body parts but carry on.Image IPB

I think Qunari is a 4ed Tiefling case not Klingon thing.

Basically it's hard to justify Sten wearing the Juggernaut helm cause his horns would pop through. So Sten was born without them. Premise as well. Qunari leaving in small groups to a land of another race usually do better to not have horns. Since it can unsettle some species. But all Qunari in Origins and though to Awakening didn't have horns. It was just simpler since the qunari didn't have a unique armor even yet. So they were all wearing normal suits just larger.

The Dragon Age universe isn't being "reimagined" and Bioware isn't hand-waving anything. QUNARI. HAVE. ALWAYS. HAD. HORNS!

Thank you.

Well, it is being "re-imagined" to an extent, and BioWare are handwaving certain things (like Anders's bisexuality).

But, QUNARI. HAVE. STILL. ALWAYS. HAD. HORNS!

Thank you.

Your example is flawed. Go play Awakening. Anders has ALWAYS been ambiguous. Just because he prefered women, al la zeveran, he has always been a "toe over the line" when it comes to sexuality. He even said it himself, "The robes are for quick trists in the corner" and "The Ferelden circle was more fun. Everyone was kissing everyone." Heck, even Oghrin and Nathaniel are like "... sleep over there, Anders."

He just doesn't TALK about it. For one thing, he's not with "THE WARDEN" long enough to really open up that much to him (or her). And for two, Anders is hardly bisexual. He's "Hawksexual". Just like Merrill would never in her wildest dreams ever find a human attractive. She's Hawksexual. Heck, the only cast-member who's not soully Hawksexual is Isabela, and to a minor extent, Fenris, who can also be Isabela-sexual ;p

That being said, the topic was "Why horns!" and the response is "Quinari as a singuar race, have horns." This was confirmed by David and other Bioware guys a while back, even if its not in Orgins.  Not all Quinari are of the race though, as evident of the willing conversaions to their 'religion'.

So theres your answer ;p

Uhm, Anders was with Karl, so pretty sure he's not Hawkesexual.

Qunari is not a race, the Qunari is everyone who follows the Qun. That includes any race that applies.

The Kossith is the race that brought the Qun to Thedas from the northern sea, and you're also wrong there, they do not all have horns some are born without.

I'm not wrong. Anders is only with Karl if you play M!Hawke, and that's to explain that he's Ambiguous. Aka "I did it once (JUST ONCE), but you're totally hot enough to do it again".

As for the Qunari, the "kossith", they do all have horns. Just like all humans have tailbones. Not all are born with the ability to do anything with it, but its still there. I'd just assume that in some rare occasions, they just dont grow in! But, the explination remains the same. Someone asked "Why do they suddenly have horns?", The response is, "They didn't. We just met some who didn't have horns."

Why do humans have blood?

Because it looks cool when you slaughter them.

Stop with the bull****, some have horns, some are born without like I said. That's all there is to it, stop contradicting yourself and twisting words.

And Anders is with Karl regardless, he just doesn't tell female Hawke, and what are you talking about "and that's to explain that he's Ambiguous", he was with Karl, and he's interested in male Hawke. That's two men he's hot for, call it what it is, he's bisexual.

Sten... totally tells you he was chosen to be a Vanguard for the specific reason that he was born without horns.

No, he doesn't. There was no mention of horns and Qunari until the "Timeline of Thedas" thing that Gameinformer had.

Sten has never said anything on the subject.

Edit: Devs have said that he was born without horns, and that they regularly feature in the Ben Hassrath and the Beeresad.

It's in the same conversation where he explains that it is seen as an honour to be born without horns, rather than a defect. I don't even remember if it was a direct conversation with the Warden or party banter, but there was definitely a conversation about it. It's part of how he explains he was chosen to be a vanguard of his people.

No, there was not. Nothing about him not having horns, as that wasn't on the table in Origins. They decided that the Qunari should have horns and made place for hornless ones as not to change Sten overly much. They also made the "no horns" thing mean that you're dangerous, hence why they chop the horns off of mages.

But they were on the table in Origins. Horns were cut for the sake of them being a hassle, what with Sten needing a unique helmet model then, but there were mentioned in the codexes and I definitely had a conversation with Sten about him not having horns. It is how I knew he was a vanguard; not from the forums or an article on the internet, but from a flatout conversation with Sten. When you ask him why all the Tal-Vashoth you have seen are hornless, he says he cannot say; that it is an act of defiance against the Qun, perhaps.

No, they weren't mentioned, and you did not have that conversation.

I've checked, trust me on this. The first mention of qunari and horns (apart from the lizard thing they had initially) was the timeline of thedas.
