No, they weren't mentioned, and you did not have that conversation.
I've checked, trust me on this. The first mention of qunari and horns (apart from the lizard thing they had initially) was the timeline of thedas.
He is confusing the Sten who guards the Qunari compound in Da2 with the Sten of the Beresaad in Da1.
