Either you (Hawke) has lived as a warrior/rogue who has been entrusted by his family to protect his little sister his whole life (up to the Blight at least) and, to a lesser extent perhaps, your Dad, or you yourself play as a mage as well.
That's not to say that mages aren't dangerous (that's proven time and time again), but honestly I don't think of mages as any more dangerous as say a crazed warrior with a sword (even though said mage can summon demons etc) if only because given a powerful enough warrior or rogue, you can cause as much devastation anyway (although; obviously without the same amount of visual splendour).
I just find it so hard to believe that anyone could paint every mage with the same brush, after all, Bethany doesn't fall to corruption, neither apparently did Malcolm... and as to Morrigan/Flemeth, well, I don't honestly think the same ethical rules really apply to them for some reason.
Changing the subject entirely though for a split second, I'm pretty pleased with myself in that in a way I called the whole 'Justice-is-inherently-corrupt-as-a-consequence-of-possession' angle way back in the aftermath of awakening, so it's pretty interesting to see that played out once again here in DA2.
EDITED to say 'hard' in the subject line.
