Basically, I just played DA:O, DA:A most the DLC and now DA2 in the last week or so.  Having played them all back to back to back, I can offer some decent insight on what Bioware did good, what they did bad, and my personal feelings are regarding DA2.

PROS:
1. Battle Animations/Actions - Battle is fun, looks great, and champs do amazing things
2. Environment - Everything looks clear cut, and is fun to run through
3. Storyline - AMAZING, its an epic story without you being some epic legendary figure
4. Dialogue - I was upset at first about our hero having a voiceover, but it was incredibly well done.  Also, the emotional symbol next to all his options are a huge success.  Only a few times did what he say not match the emotion icon
5. Great fast travel system, amazing map system with quests over each location
6. Pro and Con here, your party members arent stupid.  They react smartly enough that for 90% of the fights, you could probably get away with never issuing orders. This is great for scrubs, not for pros.

CONS:
1. TERRIBLE skills - Seems like half your options are sustained, and the ones that arent cost whatever you have left.
2. TERRIBLE fight sequences - Honestly, the whole ambush, followed by "falling from the sky" reinforcements is stupid.  Half the time you wax the first wave with all your spells, and are left auto attacking the next 17 waves.
3. TERRIBLE quest help - Half the quests dont show up on the map, many dont update correctly, and so on.  GIVEN, its just released, it happens, and this game is surpisingly unbuggy.
4. Friend/Rival system is bad - Go back to Like/Dislike.  It makes sense, its easy to follow and it shouldnt have been changed
5. No Camp - Yeah everyone having there own house is swell, but its a HUGE time sink trying to talk to everyone, or to swap gear out side of a common camp.  You could have made the INN a common place at night or something.
6. Time Sequence - Again, I LOVE the story, it seriously is epic.  BUT, its lame that you go for years as a made man and have no money.  How can 3 years go by, with you being the hero of the city, and your still broke?
7. NOT enough money.-  I did 95% of the quests in the game, looted everything, killed everything, sold everything.  You make around 400 gold doing this.  You literally can buy MAYBE 3 top end items, if you dont spend any money on potions.
8.  BAD potion design.  - DA:O had it right. The crafting and the variety itself was stupid.
9. ZERO reason to have a rogue/lockpick.  The number of  locked chests are few, and the contents within are hardly worth your time.  DA:O/A had it right, with tons of locked chests, with many of them filled with useful items, making a ROGUE with maxed lockpick/cunning worth your time.
10. ZERO challenge - As above in PROs, you almost NEVER have to issue orders, because the game was that easy.  At its most challenging, your forced to kite Varric/Isa around while your other 3 champs smash whatever it is.
11. NO epic monsters - IN DA:O, when you fought a dragon it was like HOLY CRAPFACE A DRAGON!  It was scary, took skill, lots of kiting and micro management.  In DA2, Dragons pop up and your all of lvl 5, and your champs brush it off like its nothing.  Same with the epic demons, its just another every day thing.  Very little strategy to any of the fights aside from kiting your biggest hitter.  (Rock Wraith was the exception)
12. Not being able to cast spells before a fight.  This ismy biggest problem.  Who runs INTO a fight, and then decides its time to cast?  If you see the enemy, you attack before they know your there, plain and simple.  This was a bad call in DA2.
13.

CONCLUSION:
The game offers stunningy visuals, GREAT length, an epic storyline that for once doesnt start you off as some king or forgotten prince.  The battle animations are epic, the witty banter is top notch, and the new dialogue wheel is pretty awesome.  This would be a great RPG if it was a new series, but as it came from such an epic as DA:O its kind of meh.  Bioware changed too much about what was good in DA:O, in what I assume was a bid to dumb the game down for new customers.  Given, I played DA:O  a year after it came out, so it had plenty of time to be patched and fixed.  DA2 is brand new, and IM quite positive DA:O had many of the same issues Im listing here now.

As it stand,s DA2 is an AMAZING game, a great RPG, and a fun time.  It just doesnt feel as epic as a sequel should.
