Let's compile the different betrayals you can get in the fade and apologies the companions give once you are out of the Fade. If you guys have their exact lines I'd be happy to add them.

Also any information on who can override whose betrayal would be nice.

Edit: Need to clarify that there's two types of apologies a) one right as you exit the fade and B) another when you get a quest to go talk to the specific companion in their "home".

Fenris
- Can betray you at the Pride demon for the promise of freedom.
- Will apologise right after the Fade for his weakness and that he thought himself above such influences.
- Later will apologise for failing Hawke and might also comment on how the demon didn't manage to influence Hawke/that no one was as surprised as he was that he took the deal(friendship) or he will say Hawke is partly to blame and that he never wanted to go into the Fade in the the first place (rivalry).
- Betrayal will always be overridden by Merril's betrayal.

Isabela
- Can betray you at the Desire demon for a promise of a ship.
- Her apology right after the Fade can be overridden by Merrils apology.
- She apologises right after the Fade by saying the demon got inside her head and the only thing she could imagine was the ship promised to her.
- Her apology later begins with her talking to Merrill about being a woman on a ship. She apologises to Hawke saying it was foolish, especialy since she didn't even get a ship in the end. If you choose to be understanding in the dialogue she'll comment on Hawke trying to get her into bed - and that it is working. If you follow the friends option she will comment on her inside feeling squishy.

Merrill
- Will betray you at the Pride demon for a promise for a better deal than her current demon deal.
- She apologises right after the Fade for thinking a demon can be bound by words.
- Later she apologises saying she can't believe she turned on you and will understand if Hawke can't forgive her. She says she has been so carefull in her dealings with demons until now since it takes so little for a mage to fall. You can continue on to discuss the Fade and dealings with it.

Aveline
- Can betray you to the Desire demon for a chance to see Wesley again.
- Isabela betrayal overrides Aveliene's.
- Will apologise later.

Varric
- Can betray you at the Pride demon for Bartrand's riches if neither Fenris nor Merrill is in your party.

Anders
- The only companion who will not betray you.

Sebastian
- Refuses to go to the Fade.

If i not were wrong Aveline's betrayal will have Wesley's stuff involved as she wish to see her dead-husband again. I got her apology later on as well. So far Anders and Varric didn't have problem in the Fade.

Varric betrays you for all the riches Bartrand got.

I've yet to have Anders betray me.

I'm under the impression Anders never betrays you since Justice is "steering" for most of that quest and knows enough about the Fade not to be taunted by demons.

I got Fenris and Isabela. I don't remember Fenris' apology incredibly well, but Isabela talks about how the demon got inside her head until the only thing she could imagine or care about was the ship it promised her.

I never had Varric's betrays...well there should be various video of companions's betrayals scene up on youtube. I'm interested to see more, and Justice will fully control Anders in the Fade. I believe he won't accept any demon's offer, plus there is way to earn friendship point from him If you'd pick the right choice.

I just remember that Isabella's betrayal line was a real groaner: "I like big boats; I cannot lie."

Fenris was a rival in my game, and his 2nd apology when you visit him went a lot like, 'it is your fault as well', followed by pointing out that he never wished to come to the Fade in the first place and only did so because Hawke asked it of him. I picked confrontational options during the apology time, if I remember correct though.

He comment about men of Faith having no right to enter the fade, if you have him in your party when you start the quest.

I had Merrill (Pride Demon) and Isabella (Desire Demon) betray me, Aveline being the third did not talk to either demon so she stuck with me.

Oh yes! That was the remark.
And when you got to the select screen he's blacked out.

I also remember when it's first suggested outside the house he says "Go into the fade? But that was how the Black City happened!" (might not be exact quote, general gist though)

Hmm, I'm gonna have to test Sebastion out at some point it seems, because he wasn't unavailable in my party selection screen.

Stupid me though, I didn't save before the quest on my most recent playthrough :P

I remember getting some serious rivalry points from Sebastian for even considering entering the Fade.

Taking certain characters with you into the Fade is an excellent way to raise their friendship or rivalry, since it leads to an extra scene that you cannot get otherwise.

Has anyone figured out the priority of betrayals? Does it depend on your relationships with characters (deeper friendships/rivalry companions are less likely to betray you)? Or are some companions just easier to sway? It's nice to know who to take if you want certain characters to trigger the apology scene for them.

I've only seen two betrayals for the Pride Demon, with all three of the potential betrayers in the party:

- Merrill will betray you over anyone else (I had her and Fenris in my party that time, along with Anders).
- Fenris will betray you if Merrill isn't in the party (I had him and Varric in my party, along with Anders).
- Varric will betray you if neither Merrill or Fenris are in your party (Fenris in the party, Varric didn't betray me, Anders was present as well).

For the Desire Demon I haven't had both Isabela and Aveline in the party at the same time, only seperately. I think I'm close to the mission or might have an old pre-Fade save, so I could try taking both Isabela and Aveline with me. My guess is that Isabela will betray you even if Aveline is present.

Anyone find that the Pride Demon betrayal is a lot harder than the Desire Demon betrayal? Neither Aveline or Isabela troubled my party too much, but both Fenris and Merrill are freaking monsters. Both immediately one-shotted my entire party the first time they betrayed me. Fenris simply swung his sword, and Merrill immediately threw out some nasty AoE.

Updated the OP with your info. We still don't know if your relationship with the characters affect the priority, but it might just be a fixed order.

Moar testers plix!

That sidemission is awesome, after seeing all my teammates betrayal me I chose to do it over and do a deal with the Sloth Demon because my teammates show they are as greedy as me lol.
I took his Knowledge option, I got myself a new skill. lol.

You ask more information about Sebastian in your opening post, but there is none. There is no possible way to bring Sebastian with you, Like I said in my previous post, he'll just slap you in the face with rivalry points if he's around when you speak to Arianna. He's not a selectable option when you pick your party, Sebastian just doesn't do the Fade.
I'll check my save files, or do it with Isabela and Aveline in the party on my current run. I'm still in act 1 though, so if someone else can try before that I'd like to know who's more likely to betray you.

Thanks for clarifying it. You said before that you got rivalry points but that doesn't say he wouldn't go there despite this. I'm still mystified as to why he was selectable on my last playthrough if he's not supposed to be. I didn't pick him at the time sadly so I wouldn't know what happens.

I just want info so I can add it to the OP, so don't swing your axes at me :P

Perhaps dialogue choices when you've got Sebastian with you affect the possibility of taking him with you into the Fade. I'll test this as well. Maybe if you convince him that a powerful Mage loose in the Fade could mean unspeakable horror or somesuch, he'll agree to come.

I didn't have Varric betray me, just Fenris, but I've only done it once. I'm somewhat surprised Fenris did, given how he distrusts magic. I thought it was all fine and dandy, up until elf-boy was all 'Hold up, this is brand new information, shut up Hawke.'

Guess Anders had to be the trusty one for once.

Varric didn't betray me at all. Fenris did, but not Varric.
