Hi.
I am about to start a playtrough with a Bow specced Rogue.
I was wondering how, Assassinate works out with a Bow, will Hawke still stand at range and fire a powerful arrow, or does it work at all?
Also, is Shadow worth it for an Archer?
- How does flanking fare, and does it work at range?

Assassinate works just fine at range with a bow. You do a quick back flip (don't ask me why) and fire an arrow.
I think Shadow is great for an archer. Decoy is a life saver. Flanking should work fine at range, but you do have to move around quite a bit to make sure you are flanking. Against some enemies it's quicker to just shoot them from the front. I only flank if it's an enemy with a good deal of HP and Assassinate is on cooldown.

Alright thanks for the response
I imagine flanking at range requires a bit more movement at range compared to melee.

What are your thoughts about Archers Lance and Hail of Arrows ?
Should I go for them early or should I go for some survival talents instead, and just use Assassinate for dmg, and auto attack for the rest ?

well im just about to start a archer build and as far as hail of arrows go's in my mage playthrough
verric seemed to do a hell load of damage with that aoe so if your going to get a tank to draw a crowd it would be a must for crowd control

Archer's Lance is good when you upgrade it, but it's tricky to use, particularly if there's friendly fire. But I think it's too deadly to ignore.
Hail of Arrows on the other hand... meh. It does a very unconvincing amount of damage. Duration is short too so the debuffs from the upgrade are not that useful. I should mention that it worked well for me in the beginning, but by endgame it just seems to make a dent in people's health. I only use it when there's an absolute army of very weak enemies.

Hail of Arrows scales badly as you level up. It is incredibly weak late game. Focus on Assassinate, Pinpoint Strikes, and all the +crit damage passives in Shadow and Assassin trees

Pinpoint Strikes probably isnt that great later on when your crit chance is getting higher

That was my experience. It was great earlier though, and it's easy enough to respec.

Assassinate is autocrit, so you don't need to activate Pinpoint Strikes.
