No matter what I do, I can't seem to get Isabela to return at the end of Act 2.  I've even tried cheating the Friendly meter up to 100% but she still won't return. Could someone give me some tips as to how exactly I can get her to come back?

I heard you can't tell the Arishok that Isabella had the relic, other than that, I'm not sure.

you need to have the thumbs up talent, after she runs off check your character screen if you still have the thumbs up perk then she should show up.

This may have been what I was doing wrong, thank you!

I think if you tell her to give the relic back to the qunari she will leave and wont come back you need to tell her that you will get the relic for her.

I told her to give the relic to the Qunari and she came back for me

Same. I argued with her about the relic but she still returned.

I'm at a loss. Her approval is at 100 and I've kept telling her that we were going to get the relic for her and she never, ever comes back.

The strategy guide says you must be in a romance with her, or she won't return.

I wasn't in a romance with her (Merril instead), though I did shag her once. I was under the impression as long as she's friendly and you tell her to give it back to the Qunari (as opposed to keeping it for herself/giving it to that douche that's been hunting her) she'll return.

I haven't tried any other dialog options, such as not telling her to give it to the Qunari, so couldn't say for sure. She's returned in four different playthroughs, without me putting any thought into it, so it can't be that hard. :/

You have to have her at at least 50% friendship or rivalry.
You have to do all her companion quests in that act. Including the Questioning Beliefs conversation.
You have to do her quest before Aveline's.

Tell her that you'll give her the book and agree that getting Castillian off her back is more important than the qunari.

Not true. I told her she had to give the book to the Qunari. But she still returned.

Hmmm. Maybe this is my problem: I suspect in my first playthrough I didn't have enough approval. In this one, I refused to tell that guy where the poison was. Maybe I have stumbled upon my issue!

Thanks for the help, everyone. I may revisit this thread during playthrough #3 to grouse about it again. :-P

I didn't tell him where the poison was. She doesn't approve or disapprove.

However, if you're going for friendship, tell her when she first offers the quest that any friend of hers is a friend of yours. Trying to get money from her irritates her.

Well, it seems stupid that you can't reason with her that letting all the innocents in Kirkwall die by the hands of raging Qunari is baaaaddddd. That you'll help her with castillan, but she should give it to the Qunari..I dunno. i was pretty nice with her, and finished her quest first..she stole away with the book.

I did however tell the Qunari about her..I think that is the trigger that makes her never come back???

I told him about her, and she came back...I think it might have something to do with a previous side quest where she "likes big boats" lol

It was kind of silly, I kept looking for an opportunity to explain that I would happily deal with her Castillion problem directly, we just needed to give the relic to the Qunari. They are the rightful owners after all, and the trouble with them might actually be resolved completely this way.
But no, game wouldn't let me, and she ran off never to return. She better stay out of my way in any DLC or expansion; with both her betrayal and the deaths she has caused, my Hawke is not going to be happy to see her.
