Seriously, why always the topic about "Some don't mind showing violence but hate showing sex"?
It strikes me as a fair complaint though.
If you make games where enemies explode spraying blood around when you kill them and you are given the chance to do some really heinous things, then making vanilla, cowardly tame love scenes seems hypocritical.
Once again, if you put overly-sexualized characters in your games and devote so much focus on romances which feature sex scenes, you might as well go the extra mile and make some interesting and artistic sex scenes, of course appropriate to each character (ex. a "hot", scene with the virginal Tali would be rather out of place). Which doesn't mean "dudes, you want porn in your games!"
Sex is a natural part of life - and of art, and fiction. If video games want to be taken more seriously, they shouldn't trivialize it ("LOL, let's add a sex mini game!") but there's also no reason you should shy away from it.

It's crazy that they can show exploding blood and gore, yet a respectful love making session between two adults is deemed unacceptable. Bizarre.

Different cultures/values along with protecting the brands reputation/image all play factors here.
Consider this fan age poll: social.bioware.com/52415/polls/14550/
At what age is someone an Adult in your opinion?
EA Bioware can do as it sees fit with its property, if they dont find it appropriate then so be it.

I can just imagine Fenris being like >:| Why do we have to do this here you nerd. And Varric commenting about how he has to make sure to add that into his story. Perhaps being able to initiate kissing or a romantic scene of some kind as well as the fade to black that is already offered would cover the lack of intimacy that people have been noticing in DA2?
Even an awkward begrudging hug or something. If they really are in love with you, it only makes sense that you could intiiate some sort of romantic action with them when you wanted. Not only during the two or three scripted events that occur via plot development.

Really?
I'm a retarded single male and I think this thread is almost as retarded as I am. I'd much rather prefer more quests, more story, or ANYTHING, over the sex scenes. Fade-to-Black is enough for me to get implications and laugh a little. Especially because my MaleHawke's beard is magic.
Get over it, it won't make or break the game.
And yeah... the media did kind of flame BioWare and other games for the sex scenes.

And no...I'm not a whiner and I don't enjoy to complain, but I really didn't like them, especially the ones in the Blooming Rose, really, really terrible.
You know...I'll never understand the hipocrecy/double standards, like I always say...it's OK to kill, mutilate, burn and decapitate a bunch of people/creatures, but when it comes to sex, oh my god...everyone's a saint and no one wants to get into trouble.
I say screw Fox News and the soccer moms army...I mean, Dante's Inferno and Heavy Rain didn't begin the end of the world, right?

My two cents: I loved the sex in this game. It had that touch of character and didn't leave me snickering like Dragon Age Origins with its over-the-top "romantic" ambience.

My only complaint about romances in DAII is that they could use more interaction/depth than they were given. Again, I've only completed the MaleHawke+Isabela romance so far, so I don't know how the others play out first-hand, but based on that, I would have like a bit more dialogue time and interaction. I'll also say I was slightly annoyed at the lack of heterosexual romance options. I find Aveline's crush quest way to entertaining, and her character far too undesirable (romantically) to pursue her; which leaves only Isabela and Merrill. I suppose this wouldn't be as much of an issue if each individual romance were more extensive.

Why should a deep relationship culminate in sex?BeljoraDien wrote...
No one is getting off to the sex scenes, so the argument that everyone is just a pervert and likes to see boobies is completely stupid. You're supposively having your character establish deep relationships that should culminate in sex. If the sex seems trite, then it's the fault of the writing and relationship building, not of the representation of the act.
The fact is that you only need to look at the number of MODS for DAO that involve "upgraded" nudity and/or "upgraded lesbian scenes etc to see that your point above is perhaps a little on the idealistic side.
