Really, maturity doesn't mean sex scenes at every corner. Maturity in a game means deep, conflicting themes, polarizing moral choices and a darker side of the world presented.

It's a role playing game.

As an example, there's a brothel in the game. By your reasoning, anyone who wants to visit a brothel should do it in real life. Because, if you want sex or even just a bit of female flesh in game, you're a manchild. Whilst brothels are legal in some countries and states, I would not do this in real life. Now, whilst you could argue that I should just pick up a girl at a club (irl), my character can't do that. Therefore, romancing companions or going to a brothel is the only way. Nudity is part of sex. Therefore, nudity should be allowed.

Another example. I am, actually, a guy. Most of my characters are female, because I'm effeminate, and in matters of empathy and emotion, I identify more closely with females. I am not, however, gay. I would, though, like to role play as a girl who likes guys, and experience something akin to the female gamers. Again, this is not possible in real life, since I am not actually a girl.

Another example. I don't act like a bastard in real life. However, some of the my characters do things I would never do myself, in real life.

End result: Characters in a role playing game do things - and allow me to experience things - which are not allowed or are impossible in real life. Lack of nudity in a role playing game breaks the suspension of disbelief, and takes me out of the situation. I do not like this. Speaking as a pen-and-paper role player, I see no reason why there should be a lack of realistic sexual encounters in something that purports to be a role playing game.

Edit to add: And of course, there are those who find porn in real life offensive, since it can be seen to take advantage of women, and to further the (very bad) stereotype of fake boobed women as the be-all-and-end-all of female beauty.

agreed... though it's rather curious when everyone defended Bioware when they DID put more explicit nude content in their games, and now I see the same argument people used to criticize Bioware with for doing so.

Either way, I find it quite damning of my hobby that putting sex scenes in any other medium than video games is not always considered 'appealing to the desperateness and loneliness of single people', or some other crap like that.

Wtf are you talking about? this isn't a book by Friedrich Nietzsche it's a game. If you don't think sex in games can be tastefully done and relevant then that's your loss, because it enriches the story as well.

To make my point clear, though, I'm defending the use of sex as a very real character development aspect in fiction, including certain video games. I'm not saying DA2 or even DA:O handled these scenes well, or that I trust that they would handle them well in the future, but there are games that do handle these scenes extremely well and add depth to characters through them. Simply, if that's not the case here, it's not the fault of the sex scene itself, but of how it is handled. Therefore, people are not perverted for wanting quality sex scenes in a video game.

It's unecessary and would make the game less appealing and nasty.
They did it perfectly.

Hmm, I disagree on getting a real woman. They are nice and fun when you are a teenager or young adult but after that they begin to be nuisance and burden.

Just because the OP wants an actual sex scene doesn't mean the OP is a pathetic 14 year old boy.....what part of "I am a mature GIRL" eludes you?

But yes, while there was some excellent dialogue (and that kiss scene with Anders was just hot), I have to say I was disappointed that the characters were fully clothed for their love scene. And NO-I don't want the badly done awkward ones from DAO either. Tastefully done and well-animated would be appreciated. I do not want a porno scene, but at least show some skin!

I was upset that Aveline wasn't interested, Isabella was a dirty **** with STDs and Merrill was cute enough but wasn't my type, of course me trying like crazy to start a releationship always failed yet Anders and Fenris were always attacking my balls even if I told them to go to hell.

I thought the Isabella romance sequence was quite well done, so was Merrile. Only shortcoming I can see was that weapons float around their backs yet made unsheathing sounds.

Also I wish Merrile would wear a different underwear than the elves in the Blooming Rose... Or maybe she bought it from there?

Remember when these kinds of things were implied and you used your imagination to fill in the gaps? The sex scenes in all of the modern Bioware games could be cut entirely and I wouldn't bat an eyelid. In fact, they'd probably be better for it.

So adults haven't been enjoying nudity and sex in films, the descriptions of such in books for a very long time now? I think the reality is that this medium is not actually considered a fully adult medium (by many) and the inclusion of nudity can spark some kind of irrational debates.

There does not have to be explicit sexual content. Like many have said ME1 handled it extremely well for a video game.

I know this is kind of off topic but it is related to romances... I haven´t played the game yet but I was wondering, do we get several chances to start a romance or in order to pursue it we need to choose from the very first time the line with the heart...
