I've noticed a few people that play as mages in the mods section that wished they'd have the option or chance to switch Bethany for Carver.

Anyone think there should be a choice to tell Carver to look after your mother or something? (just to he's the one that gets turned into a pancake).

There isnt anything i could say about Carver without being banned from the forums for a while :?, just wish we could have kept the likable sibling alive. I'd also fully endorse the option to feed Carver to the ogre, but i think thats just wishful thinking <_<

What's with a ll the hate towards Carver?

Sure he and Hawke butt heads often, but I think he's justified for his way of thinking and he does defend you and love you.

Which sibling is the 'likable' sibling is entirely subjective. It is the way it is, I'm happy we get the chance to know both of them and Carver is one of my favorite (if not my favorite) characters in DA2.

Personally, i hate him because after 3 runs through the game trying all 3 of the "personality types" (making jokes, being good and being aggressive), he was still...well...yeah.

That, and the fact that I'd rather protect my younger sister than have to fight with my brother (esp since your sibling becomes your only surviving family member from Lothering).

Eh, I'm glad that Bethany always dies because I always play a mage. She is the nice one, but she's not the interesting one. I feel like they did a much better job with Carver and his characterizations than Bethany. She's just sort of blah to me, with no real personality.

Carver is an ass and he always bothers me, but I like him because he's constantly butting heads with Hawke, but he has a reason to.

yeah, Carver is far more interesting as a character. he's always jumping into conversations, disagreeing, arguing, being carver and thats fun. i loved going through act one with him trying to make neough money for our trip and arguing the entire time, it felt real.

bethany however on my rogue just basically said nothing, agreed with everything i did and the only times she was involved in any conversations was to go "hey guys! im a mage lol!"

plus at the very end of the game him siding with me was great, had a real brotherly bonding thing going down, i couldnt NOT use him in my party for the final boss because it just felt so right. "the brothers hawke back together" it was like a "HELL YEAH!" moment for me.

I want to be able to kill Carver on my mage and restart the game on a completed character... Then this game would be perfect =)

Well then, even the ability to have either sibling protecting your mother at the start (whichever one protects her gets killed by the ogre). That way Carver supporters can always have him, no matter what...and those of us that despise him can decide to let him die.

This would mean that at some stage during the start you order Carver to look after your mother, so he ends out being the one to face the ogre.
OR, if you'd rather keep him alive, you order Bethany to protect her (or just to "stay close to mother") and then she'd be the one that dies.

Easy enough and it'd mean that both sides get the sibling they want.

My issue with it is that I hate Anders so the only way to have a healer in my squad is to take Anders or set myself up for it which I don't wanna do. So basically if I could have her rather than Carver i'd be happy. Obviously won't be an issue for my rogue and warrior playthroughs but makes me Mage one rather annoying.
