As a mage, I had Carver live and stick around to become a Templar. I think there was a really big missed opportunity with that. Imagine all the very personal, heated debates they could have! But all we get is a single letter!

In good cRPGs that have you invested the characters and plot, you often wish that you had more dialogue choices than you do. But for me, a really immersion breaking missing conversation was just being able to talk to your sibling about your mother's death. The only mention of him even knowing about it is Gamlen muttering about telling Carver.

I was very happy to see Carver side with me on the mages' side in the end, though I really wish we could have had more chances to talk to him in the Templar Halls, keep him filled in and such. I'm guessing that with the four possible fates for the poor kid (dead in Lothering, dead in Deep Roads, Grey Warden, Templar) they couldn't spare the resources... but that excuse is really sour.

Anyways, I was wondering what the other forumites thought of Bethany/Carver/Mother. I think the problem is that we needed more bonding time before they start complaining at us about everything, but overall I liked the inclusion of family.
