in Ferelden, a Mage escapes, they get brought back. In Kirkwall a mage escapes, he dies or gets tranquil.

When you're going to lose everything no matter what you do (die/be tranquil/be possessed), why not take some of the bastards with you and leave behind a nice big hole in the Veil as a warning to those who will come after?

I killed him for killing the only sensible person (besides ME!) in town.

Merrill wasn't dumb. She wanted something and was willing to possibly die for it. The Keeper was a bit plot-stupid though.

In the leadup to the finale I was absolutely convinced I was going to kill him knowing what he would do, but when it came down to it, I just sat there for about five minutes before realising I couldn't kill him. I just knew that it was horrible what he did, but he had good intentions in his heart.

I didn't kill him first time through because I kinda like having a healer for boss fights. ~_~

Also, I think my character from a role-play perspective wouldn't have killed him outright anyways but gotten him to do everything in his power to save as many lives as possible in the chaos he spawned. Then, once things had a semblance of order, he'd have likely faced justice for the innocent deaths on his hands and something tells me he'd have willingly faced it. Was kinda disappointed I didn't get an option to elaborate on that for Sabastian's benefit.

Sure did. It was depressing as hell, because he was Hawke's friend and my warden's friend before that, but mass murderers don't get to walk away scot free. I kill him for the same reason I kill Velanna and Loghain.

Between killing the young mage and blowing up the Chantry, it seems clear to me that he's lost control, his mind, or both. He really is an abomination.

Honestly, with having Anders and Isabela as "friends," who needs enemies? Add to the fact that Ander's act of terrorism didn't make any sense. If he hated the templars so much, why not blow up the Gallows along with Meredith?

I went to the last fight without a #$%^ healer--there was just no other way from an immersion perspective. On my second playthrough I'm mass producing potions and sitting both drama queens out of the line up.

I was very glad I made Hawke into a full spirit healer, that's for sure.

I killed him, he was neither Justice or Anders but a abomination waiting to happen. There's no way Anders or Justice by themselves would do such a thing.

I let him go, but he showed up later and forced me to kill him. Daft bastard, should have left when I gave him the chance.

I killed him, I'll likely regret making him a martyr, but darn it, he deserved it. Not only did he kill a lot of innocent people, but he signed the death warrant on every mage in the circle, including Hawke's sister!

My (Rogue) Hawke killed Anders, Sided with themages because i wasn't going to let Meredith kill my Sister Bethany. I killed Anders not because i was mad at my friend. Hell i liked to see the chantry be destroyed, but i killed Anders because Sebastian threatened to leave, And Sebastian was a good friend in DA: II just as Anders was a good friend to my Warden in Awakening.I just hope that My Warden tells Ser-Pounce-Alot in a sensitive way.

Arppis, how is it sensible for the Grand Cleric to do nothing in the face of injustice? Anders wanted to change the plight of the mages, who have been suffering under oppression for a thousand years. No one before him was able to rally the Circles to free themselves from subjugation because, as Wynne said in Awakening, it would be a death sentence since the Chantry would rather see mages dead than free. However, Hawke and Anders can stand up to the templars and live, and inspire the mages to have the same strength of conviction to free themselves from slavery.

I saved him and ran off with him first playthough to get his romance ending...Hey I worked hard on that. But yea. As much as I love Anders what he did wasn't justice but terrorism, but killing him only makes him a martyr. And martyrs inspire the otherwise weak. He shows all mages that the Chantry and Templars can be defied and destroyed. And now we have a mage rebellion.

I did kill him second play through to see....Anders dying was sadder to me than the Chantry exploding and Sebastian's pain.

Love him or Hate him Anders is a very well written character.

Meredith signed that warrent.  What happened to the Chantry was the act of a crazy possessed apostate not a circle mage as Orsino argues.  Meredith by this time was nuts from the idol, and it was probably only a matter of time before she annulled the circle anyway.  That was the main reason I sided with the mages.  Despite Hawke's sister being in the circle and her man being the one who blew the chantry, it was Meredith who called for the annullement when one wasn't necessary that really pissed me off and ensured I was on the mages side.

Also... he has a lot of potential... could end up like Wynne or better if you guide him to the right direction... I thought it was just too much waste of a character considering that he is only one who returend from the origin series, not to mention he is a major part of the story in DA2. Kinda wanna see what he can do in DA3 or upcoming expansions

Yeah, but when you make the choice to spare Anders, you have the Allistar/Loghain Situation all over again, except this time it's Anders/Sebastian.  He'll take offense to sparing Anders, and says kill him or I leave.  It's similar to sparing Loghain & losing Allistar in DA:O.  Found it most interesting, but I had Anders speced mostly heals, so it was an easy choice.

My Hawke spent years working to bring the Grand Cleric around to the cause of deposing Meredith and restoring sanity to the relationship between templars and mages, only to have Anders destroy all possibility of a peaceful compromise.

I had no choice but to tell him about the rabbits after that.

Ah, so you took the romance path with him?  Understandable.
