I couldn't kill Anders.. because he was the only @#$%ing healer in the game!!!

Way to ruin the dramatic tension of that scene for everyone but PC Mages, Bioware.

I killed him anyway,  it was worth it.  He's all like "Look at my I'm a martyr... and than stab, stab, stab!  And he went urk.... dead.

I didn't kill him, I just wanted him out of my sight. But I only played through once so far. I doubt I will let him live again. I take a dim view of terrorism.

of course. He's a terrorist and a murderer. I helped the mages but regardless of your side there is NO EXCUSE for the stunt he pulled and the people he murdered.

he got a knife as a prize.

I let him live and took him with me. It just seemed that killing him would be giving him an easy way out. He starts a war and expects to die like martyr? No way! If he starts a war, then I expect him to fight it, maybe even try to lessen the damage that he has done...

Maybe in another playthrough I'll opt to kill him though...

That said, I must say that I'm disappointed with what Bioware did with Anders. They should have let him stay the funny mage who found his true companions among the Wardens. Not a crazy, borderline Abomination who's out to destroy the chantry...

While I did kill him (even when siding against the Templars), I wish we'd have been given the option to make him Tranquil. It would have been a bit of poetic justice.

I killed Anders because I pitied him, I granted him the release of death. In my current play through I plan to make his skinny dumb arse face the results of what happened.

I killed him dead, reanimated him and kill him again. Then reanimated him again and burned him to ashes. Then I froze the ashes out of spite. My reasoning for why is below.

Finally Anders sparked a revolution over a cat. He wasn't allowed a cat in the Circle so he runs away. The Warden makes him give the cat away which then makes Anders run from the Grey Wardens. Where this makes the leap to insanity is the fact that all game the lore tells you the Fade is bad and possession can only be cured with a beheading. Guess who is fully possessed? Anders. Whose feeling of injustice over a cat sparks off a revolution that will kill hundreds of thousands. That is one of the most insane plots I have ever heard of in my life.

I didn't but after losing Sebastian for sparing him I am pretty sure I will kill him in future, she was a decent woman, the grand cleric :(
There was nothing good to be gained from blowing up the chantry anyway, what the hell was he thinking? I loved him in Awakenings and now I don't even like him, still it was easy to be mean to him to impress Fenris this time round ;)

This is exactly what i wanted, he acted as if he was ok with death but he would have hated being made tranquil

Also i really liked the grand cleric she didnt deserve to die. Its sad that of the major players in kirkwall the two moderates actually trying to keep peace are the viscount and the grand cleric, and both are killed.

Oh hell yes. As far as I'm concerned, Anders is the real antagonist of DA2.

I killed him because I couldn't have him going off and murdering a bunch of other people just because they wore a chantry robe.
There isn't really a right way to deal with him: He either escapes and does it again, or he dies a martyr and someone else does it for him. At least knifing him keeps Sebastian from going back to Starkhaven and screwing up that place for a shot at revenge.

I did. No one betrays me and lives. (i'm so edy and kewl)

joke aside, really when he did what did in the ending i was so angry at him for tricking me, i just couldn't hold myself back. Anders, you were a good friend but what you did was not cool ;_;

Oh come on now! All Anders did was burn down a chantry.
Surely he deserves a stern scolding, but besides that I doubt there is much to fuss over.

All he really did was steal your kill, I mean I bet plenty of you would have burned down that chantry yourselves if you could. Unless you hate mages of course, in which case you're probably delighted to get to butcher them.

As long as Anders lets me to destroy the next chantry we're cool.

Anders has become the new Loghain, apparently.

A lot of people seem to hate him because he attacked the Chantry, but it's the same institution that has enslaved his people for a thousand years. Should Anders have done nothing in the face of mage oppression? Should he have allowed the slavery of his people to continue for another thousand years when no one else was willing to do anything to challenge the authority of the Chantry and it's iron grip on the mages?

It's true that people died, but those same people were members of an organization that was involved in slavery. The slavery of mages across Thedas in all fourteen Circles of Magi. Should Anders have allowed the Chantry to continue enslaving his people, when the horrors of Karl (his first love) begging him to die, or the mages who were getting raped, tortured, and killed were still prevelant in the Chantry controlled Circles?

Andraste didn't write a strongly worded letter to end the slavery committed by the Tevinter Imperium, she waged war for the freedom of her people. All Anders wants to do is accomplish the same thing - see his people freed from the bonds of slavery, so they can have the opportunity to live free.

When it comes to a choice between doing nothing and allowing slavery to flourish, or stopping slavery by any means necessary, I can understand Anders choice. When given a chance between subjugation and freedom, I would take freedom. After all, it's better to die on your feet than live on your knees.

I kinda felt like I had to execute him. He mass murdered a bunch of innocent people for his ideology. He was basically a terrorist.

I kinda agonized over this decision in my first playthrough. My character is the 'good guy' and abides the law (in spite of the fact that there was no law at that point :P ). On the one hand, Anders did something horrible, and he had to pay no matter what. On the flip side, I liked to think my Hawke wouldn't kill anyone in cold blood, only in battle/self-defense. I really wished there was an option where you don't kill him but somehow bring him to justice in the end. Maybe the Champion did such a thing, we won't know until the expansion or some other explanation.

Anyway, I'll play a new char and will kill him for sure then :P Though I didn't like Sebastien either, so I wouldn't be doing it for him, lol

Yup... I killed him for being an idiot and misdirecting his so-called "justice". Extremism and mass destruction in any shape or form is not the answer. He also undermined what my Hawke was trying to achieve and killed one of my highest-ranking supporters. The Grand Cleric was one of the few truly good people in the game. I would have gladly exchanged all my so-called "friends" to have her as a party companion instead.

So much death.

Even after what Anders did my Femme Hawke continued to side with the mages... only for them to turn on her anyway!

More death. Agh.
