propably asked and answered several times already but since there are no longer search option to forums, have to ask again.

Is it game stopping, if I happen to spend too much gold in Act1 and not having 50g to spend for Bartrand. on my first playthrough I made about 80g by doing all possible quests before initiating Deep Roads, so there's not much to spare to use on tomes / other crap.

No, it's not game stopping. A dwarf will fund it for you. In many ways, you're better off this way as you get 50 more gold to spend in Act 1 (where it can definitely be spent on tomes), and more xp down the road due to having that dwarf fund the expedition for you.

You don't get the achievement, but you already got that based on your post.

It's actually a bit comical that it's almost better not to fund it out of your own pockets.

No. You get a 'backup' quest so to say. A shady deal at most, but it'll get you there.
Oddly enough I had a lot of trouble getting the 50 gold myself regardless of having bought almost nothing and doing every single quest there was. I barely had 50 gold and 80 silver after searching through every corner and place to find quests and I had to kill thugs to gather the last bit... But, I didn't want to do the 'backup' that you are granted an opportunity of.

I have a feeling a bug may or may not have been involved though. I just seemed to make no money at all... Looted everything, did everything, sold almost all my stuff, rarely bought items (Think I bought a staff for 2 gold)... Oh well. I got through it. :P

Take the dwarf's offer. You gain nothing by refusing it, which I did because I was silly and tried to rp during an rpg. It's much simpler to forget whatever morals you have going and just take the free cash.

Wow, I've ended up with ~70 gold after completing all the quests in the first act. I guess your random loot generator hates you?

I venture to the Deep Roads at 90g my first playthrough, 120g my second.  I scarcely believe you did everything and still sat just above 50g.

I'm not sure as I haven't done it, but his deal seems like a net-loss to me, though. If he pays you 50 gold up-front and you pay back 100, you end up losing 50 more than what you would've lost if you coughed up the cash yourself. Especially since you get that 50 back.

But again, I didn't accept the deal, so I don't know if you do end up paying the dwarf 100 gold.

You don't actually pay your own money back. It's like how you don't actually get all that money in the Deep Roads that makes you one of the richest people in Kirkwall. Or see any of that money you are probably raking in for being a partner in the Bone Pits. It's all implied riches.

So, no. Don't worry about paying him 100 gold. Lol.

That said, it's absolutely silly there isn't a major negative attached to taking his loan. Hell, you get more experience doing that since you get to kill more baddies down the road. :P
