I began to wonder after my first hour at what went wrong with Da2.
Don't get me wrong, I had... reasonably good times but here's still a short list at what got me gnashing my teeth!

1. The combat. I miss the old slow, heavy hits and the feeling of actually doing damage. Right now I feel like
my character is swinging a broomstick. It feels too fast and keeps
reminding me of some anime I never wanted to watch in the first place.
Especially amusing was the way your character goes from "running normal
speed with weapon holstered" into "running 3x as fast on fast-forward
mode with weapon unsheathed."

2. Right from the start,
completely identical and not nearly as pretty looking darkspawn as
Origins. I slumped into the feeling of shooting yellow plastic ducks in
a firing range as opposed to Origins more exciting and bloody fights.
The incredibly silly ways they also go into pieces like Lego-men was
also rather undesirable. A limb off is fine, a decapitation always fun, but I've never imagined the Darkspawn being made from Jello-filled glass.

3. Plot feels so far so much weaker
than Origins, but I can't hold that against Da2 just yet. So far
though, I really have not developed any emotions towards my party's
characters, rather going on quests with them for the sole hope of
getting them killed somewhere along the way before picking up someone more interesting.

4. Simply ghastly inventory- and HP/Mana bar design. Reminds me of the early days of Runescape. Was the weapon-quality system too complicated for the average player? Did it really need those large yellow Mario Kart stars to tell us what their quality is? Honestly.

So, there it is,
quite short. In summary, I only miss the gruffy realism of the
original, where lifting a giant sword felt like a real workout and
anime speedlines were only a dream of some 11-year old who should'nt
have been playing it in the first place. Origins, too, grasped me right
from the start with how natural it felt to go on these adventures,
always with the feeling that there was legitimate reason and logic
behind every twist and turn of the way.

In Da2, the feeling comes
to me that I should'nt start my first hour simply by collecting money
for different people for rather weak reasons. But, it is still Dragon
Age, and it's world and denizens are too gripping to let go for even
these reasons (Or the hammy voice-acting!)

Oh and no dual-wielding dwarven warriors? My favourite class! ._.'
