Technically, that 'crazy demon possessed terrorist' shows just as much if not MORE adherence to his principles and thus backbone as Sebastian.

Sebastian also has several other reasons I like him more than Anders.

Like, not being a terrorist.

I'm not religious by any means (I'm pretty much agnostic/atheistic depending on my mood), but I liked Sebastian. I don't think he's a religious zealot - he's just extremely devout. Perhaps he's a tad too evangelical, but on the whole he seemed like a nice guy. *shrug*

I liked him... being confused and torn about your calling is normal. His reactions to events were believable to me. And unlike a certain terrorist, nothing he does warrants him being killed on the spot at any time.

I think much of the Sebastien hate springs from the crowd that supports a certain mage.

I think I'm probably an anomaly. I liked both Anders and Sebastian. For the record, I hated what Anders did, but I stuck with him. I understand Sebastian's anger at the end and was accepting of it. He had every right to storm off and threaten to raise and army, etc. I expect that Elthina was almost like a mother to him.

I liked Anders up til then.  But that is one of the few acts where it damages that character forever in my eyes.  And not only did I understand Sebastian's response, but I was basically agreeing that the horrible city needed to be wiped out by that point.   Crazy templars, crazy mages, qunari, gangs, and a bloody crazy bastard that wanted total war.  If there was a way to wipe the place off the map while sparing innocents I would have taken it on the spot.  Kirkwall blows.

I don't understand what your religious or lack there of believes have to do with liking/disliking Sebastian. I personally hate religion as to me they all seem like cults and its a waste of a lifetime trying to meet the standards of fables however my best friend is pretty religious. Our religious views have nothing to do with our friendship so if you dislike someone solely on the basis of there religious status well then your just highly ignorant. Even if its just a game character.

Yep, but at the same time I had some measure of sympathy for Anders. The whole mess seemed like the tragic result of events spiraling out of control if you ask me. Plus, let's face it, love can make you do stupid things, including giving people a second chance - heh.

Sebastian is cool. He believes in the Chantry, and he tells Fenris that he is willing to hear confessions. Although I can see how that would be awkward for Fenris, it was still nice of Sebastian to offer the option.

I think it was his impulsiveness and switching from the chantry to take revenge on his family personally then going back to it that made me want to feed him to Flemmeth. Elthina told him it was wrong and he did it anyway. Then he still goes around spouting chantry stuff when he ignored it for his own needs anyway! Urgh.

Iam with Kitimandiri in this one. Also, Sebastian doesn't really care about you if you "stray from the path of the maker" Meaning if your an Apostate, your outta that book. There is a banter scene with Fenris where he is asking which one of them should turn "them" in, meaning the Apostates. Iam assuming that includes Anders, Merrill and Hawke (if you chose mage) And he says it right in front of Hawke too. He keeps flip flopping around and contradicting himself, he was so selfish that, if you let Anders live, he devotes his life in finding and killing him, even if it was the "Maker's" will to do so, which he hinted slightly when he saw the chantry blow up.

Well Sebastian is no more a hypocrite then say Fenris and Anders. Aveline to an extent. They are all way to hypocritical. That's why you gotta love the rogues. You know where they stand. They don't paint a pretty picture for you.

You know what you get when you deal with Varric and Isabela. Merill to. Then again Merill reminds me of that Harry Potter chick who sees dead things and is on another planet, but uses blood magic.

I don't necessarily hate Sebastian. I like his character, voice acting, looks, and his devotion... But I could not get passed how he reacted at the end of the game. To condemn an entire city for one man, and for Hawke's decision should s/he let that one man live?
He's too fickle, like Grand Cleric Elthina stated. First, it's "I'll stay with the Chantry. I mean it this time! I won't let another passion carry me away!"
And then it's "He killed Grand Cleric Elthina! I'll leave the chantry, raise an army, and burn the city DERP DERP."

That being said, I like his character and enjoyed having him follow me around. He seemed like a real person in the game. He had strong passion. All throughout the romance, I got the feeling he didn't really want a romance. I found it hard to connect with his character, or make my character stick to him. I just wish his romance path was more indepth, he had more conversations, and perhaps more missions.

Ya, Luna is the awesome. Hence why Merill is so awesome... save looking like a teenager.

He's creepy. Have you seen his romance? I don't want to spoil it but it's well, wtfcreepy, lol. Little toad also trys to get Fenris to turn in Hawke's mage freinds if you listen to banter. Even Fenris won't go that far, he tells him oh no, no, you want to turn them in, you take that up with Hawke, lol.

For some reason, despite my fairly anti-religion views in both real life and of the Chantry in Thedas, I always end up getting along really well with the super-religious types.
I thought Sebastian rocked and really liked Lelianna in DA:O.

I'm not only getting along with the religious, I am the religious. In games. In real life I'm an atheist. This happens every time, and it's weird.

I liked Sebastian. Even after he stormed off at the end.

It's even worse when you consider that Sebastian is against killing all the magese for the actions of one non-Circle mage and yet he turns right around and decides to destroy all of Kirkwall for the non-action of one Ferelden immigrant who, if siding with the mages, clearly can't stick around for long anyway.

I think that was more of a baseless threat on Sebastian's part, I doubt he would be so foolish to create a war between Starkhaven and Kirkwall when mages and templars alike have their own war going on, he just wanted to make an impactful statement :pinched: that's just what I think though.

To be fair, Sebastian ends up being right when every mage starts summoning demons and using blood magic...even when you side with them.

Burn Kirkwall to the ground.

Honestly, OP, I just find him boring. I like him in combat, but his personality feels flat to me.

Thought I'd love him. Love the armor, the accent, the voice. I just want to see him get riled up more often like in the intro. I thought it'd be more of an Erevis Cale kind of "Priest vs Killer" kind of dilemma. That didn't really happen.

A more suitable comparison would be Alistair and Loghain.

Sebastian is also in fact very selfish. Not selfless. I take back him being a hypocrite. He's one big fcking contradiction whistling through his teeth. Christ this character really annoys me.

I can’t say I ’hated’ him. Not much to hate about the character. That having been said, I found him really boring and I didn’t use him for anything but his side quests. Instead of interesting or funny, all his party banter was trying to gently push his religious views on other people (that I saw), and I couldn’t really work up any interest in any conversations my Hawke had with him.

Ultimately, he was my least used party member, and by the end of the game, his big dramatic moment put me in mind of Anakin’s big ‘noooo’ at the end of Revenge of the Sith, overacted and cringe-worthy – though I will readily admit that’s likely because I never got to know the character in the first place. If he’d seemed more interesting to me, maybe I’d have cared about his grief.

For the record, I was so excited about him, too. Great armour design, I liked the accent, nice looking character. Just wish he’d been any kind of more interesting. I don’t like Anders but at least I was intrigued by him. Presently I might just uninstall Prince Uncharming.
