I like taking Sebastian along. He's a bit fragile, though, especially on higher difficulty levels. But he can sure dish out the damage, especially if his tactics are set up correctly, or if I just simply take over. The only thing I miss is enough points for cunning... he never manages to open complicated chests O.o I'll fix that on my second playthrough, though.

Personality-wise, I found him quite pleasant. He was just so nice to Fenris. The one thing that cracked me up, was when I took my party to the Chantry right after Leandra was murdered. Everyone was being sad about it, but Sebastian: "I think my grandfather would be proud to see I am carrying his bow." or something on that line. :D

Oh, a major reason why he annoys me is because NONE OF HIS ACHIEVEMENTS ARE WORKING.  None of them will unlock!  ::rage::

In my head, he was a bit too patronizing to the others about his faith. Then again, I'm not a huge fan of organized religion to begin with! I can see where my bias begins.

But I wouldn't have minded if he talked about MARDAR more. I liked his accent a lot, despite the fact that I mock it so. ;)

No offense meant to any native Scottish we might have with us.  I'm part Scottish myself.

Teshayell: Haha XD

SPOILERS BELOW!

The best convo I heard with him, when I was looking for qunari messenger and Vicounts assistant asks something along the lines, " Where does a off duty soldier go to?"
Varric: The Hanged Man
Isabella: Hanged Man
Sebastian: Even I know that!

My favorite thing about him is how much of an obvious Irish stereotype he is, not only because of his voice but also his devotion to "God." and his frequent outbursts.

He has the most frickin awesome armor ever. I love that porcelain over metal thing he has going on. It doesn't seem entirely practical, but more than a few of the armors seem more about flair than function.

As to speak to his character, he is pretty funny to flirt with. I don't think I could seriously romance him, chastity and devout religion, oh boy. TBut his responses to flirting are worth hearing. And he does make a good point about Anders if you happen to be romancing Anders at the time. He says something along the line of "Be careful. Anders will make decisions about himself, without thinking about the consequences to you." It's a poignant thought, even if you don't like Sebastian.

Anders' choice to blow up a building that also happens to house orphans seems to be more along the lines of one of those church bombers that justifies their actions by assuming all involved with the church are evil. It seems a bit hypocritical to me, since he's constantly spouting his beliefs that not all mages are evil.

Though I don't care for Sebastian's rhetoric either, in my playthrough, (I am a mage) he actually supported my choice to argue that the Chantry should support mages. I realize in the end, he changes his mind, but I think that is the point. Terrorist acts will often make people feel a bit more rash about things.

I think all the romancable characters, Sebastian included, are heavily flawed. I personally think this is a mistake on Bioware's part, because it is very difficult to like these characters without compunction, let alone love them. I chose Anders as a LI before knowing what he would do, but I find it hard to even imagine romancing him again. I don't really have fantasies about romancing the Unabomber. But then, I know I'm not in the majority on this one based on the "Fanders" thread.

Ander and Fenris is every bit as preachy, just they don't preach religion. It is a mystery why people would like mass murderer like Anders and hate Sebastian.

I actually think this has more to do with his Awakenings character than his DA2 character, which are vastly different. I think people wanted to be able to romance Anders in Awakening so badly, that his actions in DA2 don't really even register.

I also find it mystifying how people could say Loghain doesn't deserve a second chance, but Anders does. I figure they have both done horrific things, so if you spare one, you should spare the other. Both are extremely misguided in their actions but believe they are doing the right things.

People are strange.

I liked Sebastion in the beginning, when he was being a badass and demanding his family be avenged. "No. What happened to my family was murder" is such a fantastic line. And then... he lost me.

First it was when I took him to do his quest and he told Fenris that the Maker had freed him from slavery. I hate that "logic" in real life and I hate it in video games. Fenris freed himself from slavery with a little assistance from luck. Otherwise, if the Maker did free Fenris, the Maker is an ass who doesn't care about the other thousands of slaves the Imperium has.

Sebastion also said he didn't want to be Prince blah blah, but when I wouldn't kill Anders (I like him and agree with his actions though I wish he'd somehow made sure the Grand Cleric wasn't in there) he insists he now wants to be Prince and is going to burn Kirkwall with his armies. Considering he was ranting about the innocent people Anders killed it seems hypocritical to then take out an entrie city-state for what Anders did and what my Champion did. If he had just vowed revenge against Anders and the Champion I would have had more respect. But as is it's a bit.. pot calling the kettle black.

He comes across as: "These are the rules and they are set in stone. Unless I don't like them. But everyone else still has to follow them even if they don't like them.

The Grand Cleric knew what she was doing. She knew she was in danger and still decided to stay. It was her choice. It's sad she died.. but it was her choice.

The other LI's who change their minds regarding who you side with at the end generally do so because they respect you and believe in you. Some of them you have to argue your choice to. None of this happens with Sebastion. Not to mention his romance is not much for a reward. A chaste romance? No sex or kisses? Might work for other people, but not for me no thanks.

I agree with this completely.  Not to derail the Sebastian topic that I started, but it's hard to really embrace any of the LIs.  Even though Sebastian isn't a truly viable romance option in the ways that the others are, I find myself liking him the most because the rest are so incredibly selfish.  Maybe other people see that in Seb, but I haven't yet in my playthroughs.  My favorite characters are actually Varric and Aveline.  The romances in this game just aren't worth it, and really the romance options aren't either.

It's the same for me, too. None of the romances are appealing to me. My favourite characters are Varric and Aveline. I enjoy antagonizing Anders and I resort to encouraging Sebastian to go back to Starkhaven and flirt with him (if only to see him squirm). Hawke can live very well without seriously romancing anyone.

I was actually the opposite. Loghain lives every game but Anders can't. It's just...I don't think that Loghain is actually crazy and once he's removed from a position of power I can be fairly certain he won't go on a mad Orlesian murdering spree. Anders IS certifiable and possessed. He's getting more and more extreme and unbalanced and I fear for what he could do in the future. It's not all about punishment or second chances but the necessity of their deaths in terms of what they could do in the future.

First it was when I took him to do his quest and he told Fenris that the Maker had freed him from slavery. I hate that "logic" in real life and I hate it in video games. I wish Fenris had said something about how if the Maker was going to take credit for that then he had to take credit for making him a slave in the first place.

The other LI's who change their minds regarding who you side with at the end generally do so because they respect you and believe in you. Some of them you have to argue your choice to. None of this happens with Sebastion.

Far more than you respect and believe in them apparently, unless your change-of-heart happened beforehand.

I used him for awhile, but I got tired of him quickly. I also found the promise of razing Kirkwall and everyone in it because I didn't kill Anders just as bad, if not worse than blowing up the Chantry...

I took Seb along on my "super good holy guy" playthrough. But honestly, there's absolutely nothing Seb can do that Varric can't do better. Unless you count wearing a face on your crotch.

I dislike Sebastian because he doesn't do what BW says he'll do when you buy him.

'Unshakable loyalty'. Um, right. The one time - THE ONE DAMN TIME - I need his loyalty, and he betrays me. Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out, traitor.

Pretty face, gorgeous accent, but... meh. What I hate is that (unlike Shale) there's no way around him walking out except to murder another character. No 100% friendship option, no Persuade option. I actually paid extra for a guy who betrays me. Great.

I enjoyed Sebastion, and thought he was a very well written character. Hawke assuring Seb that siding with the mages was justified by telling him "We must reclaim the maker's mercy" was a cool moment for me.

For me, he said that he was puttting a memorial to her up in the Chantry so she would be remembered in prayer.

Even though I'm 100% opposed to the chantry, I was touched.  I wish there was some way to un-brainwash Sebastian from his vile cult and his murderous diety.

Andraste was married, so I don't really see that as a problem.  As Zevran said, the Maker gave us these parts and these urges, right?  Not that I think the Maker smiles on casual sex, but a loving commited relationship?  Like I said, Andraste was married, and later Maferath repented his treatment of her.

If Seb had a mind of his own at all instead of being blown around by whims, he'd be an actual good guy.  Instead he seems pretty bipolar to me.

I respected Sebastian but didn't like him much. I'm not comfortable around super-religious people, though. His banters with Anders were hilarious though. I wanted to lock them both in a room to work out their crazy.... and then possibly have mad passionate sex with each other.

Just typical knee jerk anti religion (really, just Christian) zealotry.

One thing that makes no sense though, he's, err, chaste, yet he's the last of his line.  Where is his sense of duty?

You took the words right out of my mouth. I like Sebastian romance though, even if I find it lacking. My other choice would be Merril because somehow she reminds me of Liara( Who I never romanced XD) So I am defnatelly making a man!Hawke for her XD

I'm fine with religious, mainly because I am religious, but I cannot stand the over-religious zelots there are. That's Sebastian for you. He's too preachy, and too dramatic.

Hawke: Hey Sebastian I think you should go back to Starkhaven.
Seb: No it is my DUTY to protect the Grand Cleric.
Hawke: But you're people need you.
Seb: But it's my DUTY!

And at the end of the game.
Seb: You won't kill him? Fine I'm going to Starkhaven to take my land and start a war!
Hawke:*Facepalm*
