Any class can "own" mages just by far "own" the hardest.

Anyways I'm not getting into this again with you. You still haven't posted a video of your dw warrior/rogue doing over 100dps at 14.

Besides he said it was doing about 70 a hit with the best gear on backstabs at a high level. My mage could at 14 hit for 90 with mediocre gear, vuln hex, and winters grasp alone.

is that english?

i also dont see the point in discussing anything with someone as stupid as you. you cant even put a comma in a sentence so it makes sense. you have no understanding how DPS works.

you have a guy telling you he is doing more overall damage with a rogue than a mage, yet you still sit there and blabber on trolling.

i think i would have more success trying to communicate with my dog.

I find most of the mage damage to be situational, 1 trick pony.

Arcane warrior build, requires tremendous investments in certain skill lines to make it worth while. Yet it's easily crushed by simple "dispell" spell.

AoE, is good, provided you can keep the foes there, and your team mates out, which's not always guaranteed. It'll also be another 60 seconds before you can cast the same spell.

There's also the problem with long cast time, plus most of the best spells are actually combination spells, it takes a while to set them up, and by that time it you might have missed the opportunity.

So I'd imagine the real Mage, single-target DPS is actually pretty low compared to melee. It's just that the AI being stupid (not going after the mage first, not stepping around AoE, or using Anti-Magic skill, and always crowding together) is what's making Mage powerful.

If this were a PvP game, I imagine the rogue would own just about any class, mage including.

you don't really need to keep your teammates out, just forcefield them.  most live anyway in which case you can also just heal them.  a lot of your other situations simply don't exist in dragon age....sooooo....ummm...yaaaaa.

Attention anyone willing to take an active role in the rebalancing of this game:Please direct your attention to AlphaMagnum's call to gather requirements for a rebalancing mod he is working on. Please only post in that thread if you're actually interested in the mod. Perhaps the community can produce a kind of balance-by-committee best-practice to inspire BioWare for official releases on the consoles and such.

Whatever the case, the path to satisfaction probably starts there for those who seek rebalance.

Maybe the Hardcore Mod dudes can get involved and join forces. Whatever.

Carry on.

I'll check it out, Hardcore has a lot of what I like but I'd prefer to just close up the silly exploits the game shoves in your face (mages, potions) rather than make the whole game harder.

i'm late to the party but i read most of this thread and i'd like toss my 2 cents in.

the combat is pretty broken. I'm surprised nobody has figured this out or done it yet, but in most cases you can walk a mage up to an open door, just to the left of it, zoom out in tactical view, and aoe the entire room of mobs without them aggroing. lol. you can pretty much easymode the entire magi tower on nightmare this way.

mages aren't what needs changing really, its the other classes IMO. Though, I agree that the spells could use some tweaking as one poster said it well, there are some really powerful almost gamebreakingly powerful (cone of cold) spells and then other spells that are so randomly useful that its pointless to spend a point on them (glyph of repulsion and paralysis rock, the other 2 are pretty garbage imo for instance, and i'm sure there are a ton more.)

the spells really need tweaking to bring them more in line with each other in terms of usefulness and such. Stamina costs should be toned WAY down across the board as well, IMO.

Bioware stating that the game is working as intended out of the box is completely laughable. Balance issues ALWAYS crop up that they didn't foresee in development and they should be prepared to fix those issues. Its hugely important in a game that only has THREE classES that they each be awesome. I'm personally very dissapointed at how similar rogues and warriors are (two entire trees exactly the same for instance) mages are just far more interesting, the rogue and warrior classes are pretty one sided and boring, imo.

saying mages are sposed to be gods while the rogues and warriors are garbage in comparison is part of the LORE ... What? lol? It seems like alot more thought went into the creation of the mage class than the rogue or warrior classes.
