The inventory system had me running around to vendors every few quests. Honestly, the stash chest at the home base didn't help all that much as tons of crap just kinda piled up in there and I didn't really go clean it out often enough because that would have made for more trips to vendors to sell off useless things. Instead of making 80 percent of the equipment in this game basically useless, maybe they could've implemented more time with the dialogue options/story mode or a little further with some of the things left out that players like from Origins.

I didn't like that almost everything, accessory-wise, had just a standard name, Belt, Ring, Amulet. I have probably sold off a few things I could've used for a few quests until I leveled up and found something better. This certainly adds to the "Rushed" feeling whenever I loot something.

I thought the Companion Armor system was terrible. I like the choices that an RPG should provide on that front, but I did like Mass Effect 2's system vs. DA2. I thought they should've made it more difficult to acquire the upgrades, but that it should've been plot-centric, not just like the runes and potions, where you basically contract outside parties to do the work for you.

I like the post. But never understood why it was a bad thing not being able to dress your friends up. THAT doesn't make much sense. Unless you are in a army where everyone wears SIMILAR outfits. Even then, you couldn't really optimize.

But I like the other points. Good job.

I like it when people can put their oppinions in a mature way.

That's how it's always been in RPG's. Upgrading inventory and micro managing party members is just part of the genre. It could be there for those who want to and then just have their default armor upgrade for those who don't.

I am only at the beginning of Act II, but so far I liked it.
Of course it isn't perfect and there are lots of things that annoys me. That most of them could have been fixed with a little more time and work actually annoys me more.
Attack waves: Simply spawning new enemies in a fight is almost unacceptable for everything that isn't undead or a demon.
Spawn the new wave further down the path and let them rush to the rescue. That way you have multiple waves, can actually use traps and you don't have teleporting enemies.

Recycled Ressources: Yes it is annoying. Had they modified the respective (mini-)Map it would still be not great, but much better. In addition, with modified mini-maps it would look less randomly generated.

Now to something that hasn't been mentioned yet in this thread:
The massive amount of gore: Yes it is acceptable for an enemie to explode in hundreds of pieces if I throw a fire ball at him. If I cut him in half with a sword there really is no reason for him to explode in said hundreds of pieces.
I mean honestly? In DA:O the amount of blood that was normaly lost in a fight was ridiculus high but this...?
If you have to have exploding enemies, then please let them only explode if they have a reason.

Funny, never thought about it but for some reason in Origins I had massive inventory space which filled up with stuff I didn't want to sell, but in DA ][, complete with storage, I... never used it. Weird. Think that the lack of info about most items, even some named items, made me feel less like keeping them.

Yeah they didn't list stat bonuses for all set items etc. so it was hard to tell if it was worth saving.

Let me start off my saying I was one of those people flocked to the forums to express my hatred for this game. My original rating for DA2 was a 5. I'd now say it is a 7.5 due to the dumbed down features and recycled resources.

I'm not going to lie, when I originally started playing  DA2 I was extremely disappointed Having been a Bioware fan for so long I was shocked at how dumbed down DA2 was in comparison to DA:O, I felt truly cheated. It took me awhile to realize that most of these changes or "streamlined" features as they call them were due to the strict release date set by EA. This resulted in removing companion armor, recycling resources, plot errors, in-continuity and all the other things many of us hate about the game.

Now that I've beat it and took these things in to consideration I can see how good this game really is. There were several twists I did not see coming and the consequences of our actions truly felt important. I originally was upset over not being able to be the warden, but if I had to choose between hawk and my warden I don't know who I would choose. I love both characters so much! I really feel like this game is a good RPG, but there are several things that could have been done to make it an amazing one! Ensuring these things are done in future DA games will make for more epic RPG's on par with the Baldur's Gate series.

Right:

Evolving companion quests.

Quest related gifts.

Friendship/rivalry.

Multiple story arcs to tie up all the pieces.

Boss battles.

Consequences for decisions made earlier in the game in later acts.

Romance.

Player housing.

Crafting.

Quick travel.

Cutscences.

Dialogue.

Enchanting arrows and weapons.

Faster paced combat.

Skill trees.

1 type of lyrium and health potion for all levels.

Cameos from past characters.

Save game import.

Character creator.

Inventory sorting.

A servant/slave.

Bohdan and Sandal in our home.

Love interest moving in.

Heartbreaking decisions and character deaths.

Random encounters.

Backstabbing party members based on our choices.

Dog as a summon-able pet in and out of combat that does not take a party slot.

Naming the dog.

The music.

Day and night quests.

Companion housing.

Companion interactions.

Party banter! YAY please be in ME3 as well!

Ending.

Wrong:

No tactical camera or unlocking of the camera. For those of us who want something similar to an isometric view or to lock the camera in a certain position. Camera frequently resets after loading etc.

Waves of enemies: This destroys are ability to strategize ahead of time and engage from a distance or sneak in as a rogue. The only time when this should occur is on boss fights, and even then it should be rare.

Recycled resources: Clothing, dungeons, and weapons should all be unique unless it is the same location. If you need more people to help with textures etc. ask us on the forums with the talent and we'd be happy to oblige. Many simple modifications could have been made to make items much more varied.

Companion armor: The upgrades were great, however removing the ability for companions to equip armor was a HUGE no no! You did this with ME2 and saw our anger, not sure why you decided to do it here. Go back to the original DA:O method so all that extra armor we find is useful for more then just vender trash. I did not notice many NPC's etc. with different body sizes to justify this change. In fact, I cannot think of any companions that had different bodies from their related NPC's except Isabella and perhaps Carver.

Not being able to disable click to move. So many times I would
accidentally move in battle when I wanted to target an enemy.

Targeting. Same as above, clicking to select an enemy was often hard, especially in large groups.

Companion AI. I NEVER saw a companion move or hide from AoE damage. So it's either broken or your coding is wrong.

Weapon and armor pricing. Way to high based on the money we earn, either increase income later in game or reduce prices. 102 gold for a ring or 150 for a staff is too much.

Weapon and armor restrictions for classes. Rogues should be able to use swords and mages should be able to wear heavier armor if they chose to and vice versa. Go back to DA:O method but expand on it.

Too short! The game needs to be long if you're gonna call it an EPIC RPG. Felt like an expansion rather then a stand alone game.

Removing pick pocket for added income. Stealth, lockpicking, trap disarming, AND pick pocketing are an important part of rogue characters and all need to be there.

Things that still need some tweaking.

Spirit Healing: I found it extremely useless without offensive capabilities and slow cool-downs on heals. Was much more useful for me to go straight damage.

Being a partner in the mine business was not profitable. I should have received money in the mail from time to time.

Money shouldn't be so hard to get, especially when I become a noble.

The faster combat was great, but companion AI and targeting needs some work.

While the concept of crafting was good, it was better in DA:O. Only being able to find the ingrediants at set points in the story is not acceptable. Have respawnable points we can go to and mobs that drop the materials as well. They should also be part of vendors inventory like in DA:O

There needs to be more dialogue consequences. If I play a harsh/rude character I should lose more friendship points or fail quests when necessary and vice versa for being nice.

Companions: They need to evolve with the story and feel more connected to the PC. Perhaps have them speak to you regarding their issues rather then you initiate all the time. Often they felt like third wheels along for the ride rather then companions. Should be able to speak with them like in DA:O to get more background information and get to know them better.

Lockpicking and trap disarming: If I have a rogue in my party and I click on a chest or trap the rogue should automatically come and open/disarm them WITHOUT me having to control them to do it. This is pointless micro managing.

What didn't make sense.

Are templars and citizens blind? I don't know how many templars I saved etc. who did not acknowledge my mage using magic. It would of been nice if more people responded to this, whether they turned on us or not.

The super rare dreamer book given after the quest with Freyleine is junk and venders for hardly anything? Why not make it a tome that increasing attributes or gives xp?

Things to add:

Armor customization: Color changing etc.

Lock on/cancel lock on targets.

Marriage for PC's.

More romances for NPC's, perhaps even some for party members that are not being romanced.

Enchantment effects like in DA:O for weapons and armor.

I'm sure there is more that can be added and I will surely update this thread as I do multiple play through. We truly do love you Bioware, and we are only harsh because we know you can do better. Please take our constructive criticism to heart so you can improve and become the truly amazing game developer we all know you to be.

Here is a poll so we can keep track of how many people agree with these points...

http://social.biowar...52/polls/17012/

I'm going to argue against the points I disagree with first

Right:
1. Crafting: This was handled well but it Bioware needed to up the amount of resources you can get in each act so that way you don't get completely screwed on higher level recipes on later difficulties.

2. Companion interaction-  It felt like there wasn't enough conversations between Hawke and the party members I think to get us really involved with our companions.  I could've done with 2 to 3 additional talks with each companion in each act.  Party banter and companions interacting with each other was done perfectly though.

3.  Ending:  I personally felt the ending was at a bad time and that there was more to tell.  This may be fixed though with an expansion or a DLC.

Wrong:
1.  Waves of Enemies:  I think it did add some strategy to battles as you would have to pause more often to get an idea of how the battle should be handled.  One thing they can do though is make the waves of attackers vary in size to some being very large to others being very small.

2. Companion Armor:  I personally liked the companion's armor couldn't be changed like we did with Hawke's armor.  What I would've liked though is to have companion's armor/clothing change after each time skip.

3.  Targeting:  I agree that targetting can be a bit hard to handle with the current camera.  If we went back to an isometric camera or at least an option for one, it would solve the problem I think.

4.  Companion AI:  I personally am glad they aren't smart enough to dodge AOE and the like on their own.  If anything that would make alot of fights too easy and would take out some of the strategy of this kind of RPG.  Sure improvements to the AI can be made but I don't want them to do everything for me.

5.  Weapon and Armor restrictions:  I don't mind this actually as it does make each class more unique and different.

What didn't make sense:
1.  Everyone being blind to you being a mage:  Alot of the time, those you face end up dying to you and thus cannot rat you out on being a mage.  For the rest like when you fought with templars, I just assume it was for gameplay reasons you were able to use magic in front of templars and not be caught.  I figure they'll just use lore and say that the mage champion was a decent fighter like the destiny trailer hawke when he fought the Arishok and just fought physically when with templars in Acts 1 and most of Act 2.

Things to add:
1. Armor customization: It's a waste of resources if they use the standard RPG gear system.  You'll be changing out the gear fairly quickly anyways.  Unless you want a ME2esque type of armor system for the player character where what gear you wear is more decided on personal preferance for how you look than the stats.

2. Lock on/Canel lock on to targets:  We have this right now in DA2.  You lock on when you select your target.

3. Marriage for PCs:  I wouldn't mind the option to get married to another character or have a kid with them (the kid would have to remain too young to really get much of a personality I think) if there is a suitable way for you and your significant other can still go out adventure (like your mother or nanny watching over the baby).  Though in DA2, having your love interest move in to your house was basically almost proposing marriage for the most part in my opinion.

4.  More romances for NPCs:  I don't mind if we get more romances like in DA2 between NPCs like Aveline and Donnic but for the most part I would actually prefer fewer more meatier/developed romances.

I like the idea of companions picking their own armor, but I would have liked them to pick a few *new* items over the years. (but I also prefer this set of companions, for the most part, & I much prefer a voiced pc) I just couldn't see any reason to side with the templars, so Act 3 felt a little flat. I didn't have much emotion about it - whereas I wanted Petrice on a pike. Having the companions flexible, according to player preference, works, but having villains who are bad if you want them to be bad - does not.

WHERE?!!?! I don't remember any other then Fenris's quest. What game where you playing? Origins? I don't remember any other random encounters unless if your referring to the walking around and getting jumped by gangs at night.

I'm talking about when traveling on the map and random encounter a la Origins. Happened with Fenris.

Yeah, the companion armor seems to be a 50/50 thing so far. A compromise would work.

Dear Bioware. I have finished DA2 and thought it was fantastic except for the fact that for some reason I cannot unlock certain achievements. I have done what is required and still nothing. I have done the requirements several times now and still nothing. Apparantly this is quit a problem for this game. Please dont be like fable three and ban me for this but I want my money backLOL. The Achievements in question are: Cloak and Dagger, Loayalty of the prince, Memento. WTF is up with that?? Can anyone help please, its really pissing me off....

I hated that all enemies essentially had the same moves, in origins it had at least some variation. I remember desire demons using spells instead of standing there and enemy mages casting a variety of spells.

Yeah, I missed having mages use things other then blood magic and summoning demons. Many fights in DA:O had to be carefully thought out based on the enemies you were fighting.

Seeing the interview in Game Informer May issue with Mike Laidlaw saddens me. Looks like he isn't even paying attention to the forums or player reviews. He denies the game was dumbed down and that waves of enemies etc. are the wrong way to go.

 Things done right in DA2:
Battle animation and the pace of it, not the spawning enemies
Armors
Weapons
Qunari and Elfs

Things done wrong:
story, wont go to details... just like you didnt when making it
exploration, there is none
characters customatisation, atleast have the gear change in appearance if you add more to it.
Anders
Act3, yep this whole act is just wrong, to me game ends in Act2 and when you kill HighDragon
Armors, too little
Weapons, too little
Junk loot, yes it is nice to have lots of loot but not when its useless

I agree with everything the OP said, with the exception of companion armor. I don't really care either way what my companions wear; in fact, it seems more realistic they can dress themselves.

Other features I really liked and that aren't on the list are the voiced protagonist and conversation wheel.

My problem is that the Quests in the game are all pretty much the same:

X is missing! Help me find him!

Hawke goes to a Warehouse/Cave/Sewer/Alleyway/Mansion etc.

Oh no! Blood Mages/Spiders/Slavers/Spiders/Blood Mages etc.! Kill them all!

Quest Complete!

I know combat is a big gameplay element, but the quests in this game really seem just like an excuse to throw you into more combat. It doesn't help that all the enemies behave the same way.

I actually like the new appearance, but Sten felt more human then they did. Granted that is how their culture is.
