I've got an nVidia GTX580 and Intel i7 980X with 12 GB of RAM, running at 1920x1200.  When I run the game in DX11 mode I get pretty bad performance as well as occasional 'black splotches' that appear on the upper left hand corner of the screen.  I am really enjoying the game but the DX11 video performance is disappointing.  I know that with a little time nVidia will probably release updated drivers that will sort these issues out.

In the meantime, I decided to give DX9 mode a try...and guess what - It looks fantastic!  Graphics are beautiful and framerates are silky smooth.  Also 'black splotch' issue went away.

So if you haven't yet, try DX9 if you are having graphics problems.  Like me, you might be pleasantly surprised how good it looks!

nVIDIA must've dropped the ball. Developers do send AMD / nVIDIA copies of new games in Beta, and typically try to get the graphics companies to make the suggestions that become Minimum / Recommended for games' system requirements. This happened before, with Bethesda's Oblivion, and all of the (Geforce) Graphics cards they named below the Geforce 6800s, especially the FXes.

This time, they are almost a month behind. Their fixes for Dx11 versus DA2 won't be available until the end of this month, it not later.

Bioware worked directly with ATI to do the DX11 stuff so I am not surprised it is not optimized for nVidia. Bioware has said they are working on a patch for the DX11 issues. And whenever nVidia releases there newest driver, performance should improve as well. Put the settings on high instead of very high and it should run a lot better at least until the patch/new drivers come out.

Lets hope they do something soon about the DX11 issues DA2 is having.

I went back to playing Stalker CoP last night. A series of games known for being a buggy mess without fan patches. Installed the latest version of Stalker complete, set it to DX11, and maxed out all the settings and get a perfect 60fps everywhere. And the game looks a hell of a lot better than DA2 does.
