I can't find a topic like this anywhere, so if there is one I apologize. If you're not sure, here's some information on roleplaying alignment:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alignment_%28Dungeons_%26_Dragons%29

My first playthrough was a Lawful Good warrior, my second was a Chaotic Neutral rogue, and the one I am starting today will be a Chaotic Evil blood mage or a Lawful Evil 2h warrior. (If you have a suggestion one way or another on which of those two I should choose, I'd apprecaite it)

But I'm curious what kind of characters the rest of you constructed, I like to get pretty imaginitive with what my characters' motives are, so what alignment did your Hawke(s) follow?

After my first play through my SnS Warrior would best be characterized as Chaotic Neutral. I mostly sided with the mages (though not blood mages), despite the law often being on the side of the Templars, so I wouldn't characterize him as Lawful. My character was often self-serving, but I rarely went out of my way to hurt people and I would help those in need. However, if someone mouthed off to my character, they tasted his blade. And, in the end, I spared Anders because he and Isabela were the only party members I looked out for--so, I would say he had some strong selfish tendencies.

I usually play through the first time making Neutral Good choices, but Kirkwall and its government have been pushing me towards Chaotic.

My Hawke doesn't have anything as arbitrary as an assign alignment.

She is what she is; a sarcastic **** who loves wine (any alcohol really), women (well...effeminate men work too), money, but in the end she will always do the right thing and will fight to the death to defend her family.

He is what he is; a kind hearted guy with too much pent up anger and an unusual desire to set things on fire.

Chaotic Neutral. My first character was a smartass, sarcastic mage with good intentions, kind of like Anders in DA:O:A. You know, before he went emo. He always tried to do the right thing, and anyone who got in the way could stand aside or taste his murder-knife. He had a soft spot for apostates, as they reminded him of his dead sister, and Merrill's love helped his softer side show more often. However, with the death of his mother at the hands of a mage, he grew more disillusioned, agreeing more and more with Fenris' ideals, and eventually killing Anders and siding with Meredith. By this point, he was more angry and self-loathing, and had been pushed to a cold directness, with no trace of his old charm. At the end of Act 3, he could be called Lawful Evil, considering the pleasure he took in killing the mages that took away the only family he had left (barring Gamlen, but he never forgave him for selling the estate).

Kitty - Chaotic Neutral.  She's a selfish, snarky rogue who fell in love with the hot-headed revolutionary mage.  She didn't give much of a rat's ass about the templar/mage conflict beyond keeping her loved ones (Bethany and Anders) safe.

Briar - Neutral Good.  Fair and sweet, but always willing to bend the rules when it came to doing what she thought was right.

Charlotte - I need to think about her character more, because she kept swinging in different directions throughout the game.  She believed in law and order but was pretty willing to make exceptions when it benefited her.  Lawful Neutral, maybe?

I don't play anything with an alignment in mind, not even D&D (and it's gotten me into trouble with DMs before, too, but oh well). That being said, if I had to pick one that was as close to my canon Hawke's alignment, it'd be Neutral Good. He saw what the templars were doing to the mages as evil, but was willing to work with a few templars who were above those evils (Thrask, Emeric, Cullen to an extent). At the end, he probably tipped a bit more into the Chaotic Good scale by keeping Anders alive and running off with him, though this was more out of love than any belief that the Chantry needed to be blown up.

Eh, I guess CG. I was going to go more Neutral or even Evil this time, but Hawke kind of took on a mind of his own.

That's an interesting page... I think "Neutral Evil" sums up Hawke nicely. Whatever it takes to get paid...  He even switched sides between Templars and Mages a few times until he had a good idea of which side most favored his survival.  He lies seemingly at random, but always works toward the specific goal of personal security.  The effects his actions have on Kirkwall are small in comparison to the effects on his companions... those bonuses can come in handy.  There are in-game perks of course, like having the loyalty of the Captain of the Guard.  Being nice sometimes just to look good is a small price to pay for that kind of protection.  I guess that makes him an opportunist more than a hero or villain.

I didn't even bother to include my class... I was playing as a Mage specializing in Lightning and Blood Magic.

Generally when I play bioware games I end up either chaotic good or neutral good.

My male mage (Kieran) is likely true neutral or chaotic neutral. The death of Bethany and Leandra are what drives him to fight any and all who oppose him and he has a strong dislike of blood mages. He also hates what Anders did but chose to spare him anyway due to the 'bigger picture' for the mages. He knows full well what a corrupt templar could do to Bethany...to him, or even his children if he had any.

My female weapon and shield warrior (Catherine) is lawful good. She dislikes slavery and blood magic. She supports the templars in their fight against corrupt mages and believes there should be a Circle but that mages be given more freedoms (the right to family, marriage and children). She is also a devotee of the Chantry, but she takes solace as a spiritual medium, not as a force to push unto others (she lives her faith by kindness and example rather than preach AT people).

My dual wielding rogue (Dante) is chaotic good. Initially he started out chaotic neutral, willing to do what he pleased on a whim, but as he grew up and got older he became wiser and more compassionate. He sides with the mages, believing in their overall freedom, but he dislikes blood magic after seeing how it hurt his love Merrill. He has a quick wit but has a good heart, willing to do anything for a friend.

My female two hand warrior (Kaelynn) is lawful neutral. She does what she has to in order to earn coin, whether it's killing as a mercenary or putting down a few bandits so long as the order is supported. She's not very close to her family and believes every individual must fend for him or herself (akin to a variant of the Closed Fist path in Jade Empire, not evil and selfish but strongly individualistic) and will take her pleasures where she can find them.

I usually prefer the chaotic neutral alignment in games because usually my characters are out for themselves, generally more good than evil but not afraid to exact revenge or kill to protect those they love most. It's a flexible morality where you don't have to be a douche but you don't have to be a saint either.

Neutral good on this run.

First run - probably more Lawful good - odd for a mage but there ya go.

My first play with my femhawke mage Abigail turned out to be thta sugary sweet do good you wanted to smack, and she tried to find the happy medium in a fluffy kitten bunnies type world. Had everyon at her side cept Izzie, and sided with the Mages, since she was a mage....and romanced Anders... was happy to fight with Carver as a Warden

My 2nd run as a TH sword weilding Kelton I'm opting for the nice/sarcastic route. She's in love with Fenris, and will die to protect her sister, and she vaules Beth's friendship and Varric's above everyone else... she loves all her friends, but she clicks easily with those two. She wants to steer Merrill away from the blood magic, and heaven knows what she'll do with Anders...

Third run with my male mage James will be a lovable smartass, who has a thing for crazy woman and will pursue a romance with Isabella, seek a platonic bromance with Anders and Varric, and have many drink nights with Fenris, and Aveline.....and tease her endlessly on her bumbling love life beore she married Donnic....

I enjoyed Abigail's run, and I'm loving Kelton's run... and I can't wait to play as James either :)

My Kitty was Neutral Good down to the hilt. She had a snarky side though. Something of a Spiderman type in that regard. Hell, in the final mission she rationalizes her choice as to minimize casualties, that's all.

'Do Good things.' was pretty much her MO and yes I fell into many of the storyline's trappings due to this course of action, but I also pretty much escaped them.

Well I like to play once as good and once as bad.  Then I like to get creative like make every decision to kill off companions or side with someone and then turn on them.  Things like that.  If there are decisions or choices I haven't made, I will mix those in as well as romancing different companions.

Somewhere between neutral good and chaotic good is what I usually play - generally trying to do the right thing with varying respect for authorities and traditions (depending on my feelings for the setting).

And that Simpsons poster is awesome!

My hero's personality defaults to Neutral Good in pretty much every RPG I get my hands on. Being mean to NPCs for no reason actually makes me feel bad. >_<
