So you’re saying 11 billion humans only make 1 reaper? But think
about the human reaper, that was made from only tens of thousands of humans but
needed more, and that woke up.  EDI says
the collectors have processed tens of thousands of humans. And significantly more
will be required to complete the reaper.  So basically hundreds if not thousands of
reapers can be easily be made per cycle.

While we're busy going for wild speculation, the square root of 304942 is approximately 552.22 and the calculated velocity of the Milky Way relative to the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation is 552 km/s.... just sayin' ;)

Damn it, Bioware, forget the screenshots, I want a trailer!

At least it looks we'll be on a mission involving the Reapers - time to kick some synthetic ass!

Well we could quote each other all day...but my argument is that the reapers did not seems to be harvesting many people in the recent ME3 preview trailer, rather they were killing everything they could.

Admittedly this could be because they fear humanity and so decide it is best to kill all of them than entertain such a high risk. But then again, Vigil back in ME1 mentioned that the extinction of an entire species takes time, this tells me that they harvest what they want and kill the rest.

In short, many reapers per extinction cycle...absolutely....the reapers only 304942 year old...no.
They have been around long...long before that, I am sure. In the final shot of ME2 there were 250+ reapers, which would make ME1 Sovereigns quote of "we will darken the skies of all your worlds" a bit of an exageration.

I got it!

I put the pieces of the puzzle together. Here's my theory;

Object Rho, which you have to pick up, is not the object from the latest comic (Evolution), but rather something related to Mass/Volume. Rho is the greek letter and it symbolizes Volumetric Mass. So yes, it refers to the Mass Effect technology from the series.

I'm thinking it's the key that would activate the dark switch in the mass relays. The ultimate sacrifice would be activating the relays' dark switch, which either destroys the relays or turns them into a weapon (What the heck do you know, they're giant mass accelerators...How could they not be used as weapons?); Perhaps this weapon sends some kind of EMP or waves that disable and destroy any and all tech, including...You guessed it, The Reapers.

Perhaps the ultimate sacrifice could be something like; Give the galaxy a chance and destroy the relays, but segregating/dissolving the galactic community (Paragon), or turn them into weapons, which would leave the Reapers a chance to annihilate entirely the galactic community, but also perhaps give everyone the upper hand...Perhaps still, even then, it would destroy any and all technology. (Renegade)

True it’s only a theory I’ve come up with it could be way wrong,
I just wanted to show my thoughts on the matter.
Either way we will find out soon enough when the dlc is eventually out, whether the numbers mean something completely different or not. :)

This has to have been said already(to lazy to read all pages) but couldn't it be a count down till the relay opens?

30 (days/hours) 49 (hours/mins) 42 (min/sec)

30 days would be a bit anti-climatic. But I could go with 30 hours...

I still don't believe any of the theories are true so far. Bioware is unpredictable.

Sol is the system where Earth is in Mass Effect. Sol mean Sun in portuguese, spanish, swedish, norwegian and danish.

And the Charon Relay is the mass effect relay who link the Sol system to the relays network. They named this relay Charon because the relay was supposed to be the Charon moon of Pluto. But in the game they discovered that was a relay so they keep the name.

Sorry for the repetitions. English is not my native language.

Earth is only one planet, so it's not an ultimate sacrifice yet this "someone" you speak of dieing makes it an ultimate sacrifice? Tell me how that works.

And how does turning off the relay sacrifices Earth? Tell me how that works.

Death = ultimate sacrifice, that is just axiomatic.

Assumption: Reapers are on their way to Earth/Sol system (we know from the ME3 trailer they'll get there eventually).
Shepard deactivates the Charon relay, cutting off the Reapers from the rest of the relay network. They're stuck in the Sol system and the rest of the galaxy has time to organize for battle.
Ergo, Earth has been sacrificed to give everyone else a fighting chance.

Im with u on this one, it would make perfect sense, best prediction ive heard so far.

I have thought similar. When you go back to the conversation with Sovereign in ME1.. the Reapers have purposely left those Mass Relays lieing around to control the evolution of the sentient species of the galaxy. We know jack all about them, the Protheans were only beginning to figure it out when they were wiped out and we have CDN entries hinting at scientists currently trying to figure out the relays. We don't ultimately know why the Reapers need to control the cycles as they do, maybe there's a bigger bad out there than the Reapers.

Your theory sounds a lot like the choice made at the end of Xenosaga.. save the galaxy and severe all technology/communication/travel between star systems in the process or let the cycle continue again. The cycle in itself isn't evil but is necessary to maintain the existence of the universe as a whole (at least in that game world, not sure if eternal recurrence is something we have to deal with in Mass Effect).

For a long while people have speculated that it is in the Reapers' best interest to destroy the relays as they invade, cutting systems off from one another. But if Shepard has is forced to choose to do the same in order to save worlds.. well, that sounds like an ultimate sacrifice to me. Then again, such a large decision seems a bit too "big" for a DLC.

I don't know but I'd like to find out!

The idea of sacrificing Earth.. seems possible. Got that impression from the ME3 trailer.

Big Ben is going to be disappointed if Shepard doesn't show up.

I think one thing worth talking about is: What is all the white garbage floating around the relay? Someone mentioned that maybe there are ships waiting to use it.

I also think the red button looks really weird: what kind of spiral stuff is it doing? Or is it because the screen was taken right after Shep pushed the button at it's in motion?

I wondered about this as well until I realized that it was just light reflecting off the mountain in the background.  Follow the outline of the mountain in the background starting from right to left and you'll see what I mean.

I don't think it's coming out 2 weeks before ME3... What I think they said was.. there will be a week of CDN leading up to the release of a final DLC..... (stop) and THEN there will be more CDN starting 2 weeks before ME3 comes out.

It's the same offer as yesterday. There's will be another one tomorrow if enough people view the second screenshot enough times. If not, I have a feeling they're going to post it anyway.

I'm probably way off here but what the hell.

Ok the Mass effect 3 trailer showed london being attacked. Now, keeping with the London/England theme.Look at the backtdrop in the window and behind the screen.
