the white glare on the clifs look more like refelections of the sun on the mountain more then anything else.

 true, but at the same time, rocks do have kind of weird lighting in game sometimes. and i dont think its snow in the pictures. i think its just the rock itself.

Thats a pretty interesting find really. Maybe.....

Every relay made by the Reapers is given a number. 304942 is the number for the relay in Earth's solar system. Or it could be the identity of another relay they are about to invade.

My memory is a little hazy but wasn't the Mu relay on the very edge of the system and as such didn't take much of the novas brunt, merely enough force to push it?

Based off the screenshot, Shep is on a boat and it appears the planet they are on is moving in to a Relay's orbital path. The numbers have been added, they are not part of the original shot. From this we can deduce that the numbers do not have a meaning in the actual game.

So it is likely a clue as to the release date. In a previous topic I posted April 3rd, 9:42am (3/04, 942). Not the likely release date, but a date in which something more would be revealed.

It /does/ look like you are at sea level.

The number could be pretty much anything; a mass, a counter showing how many scrambled mass relay jump plots have been brute-force sanity checked by a hacking utility, the number of cupcakes eaten in a day, globally, ....42!
