You can make a HUGE chain and tie it around mass relay so that halo will not spin = relay is disabled on one side :)

But i too think that sacrafice is when someone die. Be it one person or millions.

With that single 2nd screenshot, it's obvious that the Reapers are involved and that the Relays play an importyant final role to conclude ME2.

Also, how can shutting down sol's relay be the ultimate sacrifice?

1. If all the Reapers went to Earth (very unlikely) then in less then a week, Earth would have been a parking lot, yet in one week's time only one relatively small area in the globe is being attacked and there is still resistance against the Reapers.

2. If the sol relay was deactivated, how was Shepard overlooking Earth?

That theory just got it's ass kicked.

You can't use a cinematic trailer for definitive proof.  This has always been the case.

Oh no, your right, because you are all knowing. Please, the trailer has not been made canon or non-canon, so until then, Im right.

1. All of Earth is attacked, the trailer just showed London being attacked. It is highly likely that every city is under siege.

2. Shepard could already be in the Sol system when it is deactivated.

For some reason all the reapers appear in the Sol system, Shepard then shuts down the Charon relay (The only way out). Sacrificing Earth to buyt the rest of the galaxy time.

It's basically locking billions of humans in with a Reaper fleet in order to save uh, trillions? How is that not an ultimate sacrifice?

1. To be fair, we don't know how many Reapers there are on Earth in the ME3 trailer or where they're attacking. Also, are we 100% sure a Reaper attack means immediate total annihilation of a planet? The Prothean genocide did take centuries afterall. It's a delaying tactic... I guess.

2. Uh, the magic of trailers?
...I dunno <_<

Can't I just sacrifice my homeworld in peace? :crying:

It looks like guys/gals @ Bioware have problems disabling the use/target icon. Annoying, isn't it? Image IPB

I bet you the end of this DLC will be the same as the ME3 trailer, with the Big Ben sniper and Shepard looking out of the bridge window on the ship. That way it'll lead directly into ME3.

I personally think Earth is already going to be under attack when ME3 begins. BioWare has already provided what's most likely going to appear on the back cover of ME3 (the words), and it clearly states 'the Earth is burning'. What I think is the real question is this: will we have to do like we did with the Collector Station, wait until we are ready and so are our allies, or is the issue with Earth just the beginning of ME3, and a tease of what's to come for the greater galaxy. Will it even be possible to save Earth, or will humanity need to colonize a new world, should it survive?
I, like everyone else, am demanding a release date so I know how long I have to wait. Now I may have read the announcements in regards to this DLC and ME3 wrong but it seemed that they said the Cerberus Network would re-activate a week before the DLC was available, and then again 2 weeks prior to the release of ME3. The problem is, some of the wording suggested the DLC was being released before the 2-week activation cycle, which would suggest this as being in Holiday 2011 with ME3. Obviously, this can't be the case due to the fact that they release screenshots and videos within months of DLC being available. I hope somenoe's suggestion of an April or May release is right, though I wouldn't say no to a June release either.
I also can't wait for the apparent new information on ME3 that EA and BioWare are supposed to reveal at some overseas game expo or something. (As you can tell, I'm new to the gaming arena.)
Considering the screenshots, and what we've known already, I'd hazard this guess: Dr. Sanders, while studying a recently excavated Mass Relay in an effort to learn more about its origins, is captured by Batarians (possibly belonging to an extreme group like Balak) who wish to open the relay against Citadel regulations. If the relay is allowed to open, the Reapers may find a path to it from a far off part of the galaxy. It's made clear in ME1 that some dormant relays will remain that way due to the Rachni Wars and their aftermath. Of course, this is just a hypothesis. No doubt BioWare's actual storyline for it will be much more interesting.

The reapers are attacking cities across the globe not just London.

As for shutting down the Charon relay to hold the Reapers at Earth. There would need to be a means by which they would arrive in Sol system that could justify the shutdown of the Charon relay. If that is the case then why wouldn't the Reapers use whatever method took them to Earth once Charon was disabled to get away?

Yes, if they get enough "impressions" on facebook. "Impressions" are earned from people viewing, liking, commenting on, sharing, and downloading the screenshot.

Maybe they're doing a dragon age 2? in order to speed up development time, you shut down the relay so the whole game only takes place in and around Earth (Kirkwall), and you can't travel anywhere else!

There is a lag inbetween posts; usually happens if there are too many comments being posted at once. If you submit a post and it doesn't appear, don't resubmit as your original post will appear within a couple of minutes anyway.

The whole idea of deactivating the charon relay and sacrificing earth to save the rest of the galaxy works, but one small detail I noticed went amiss.

In ME3 we are going to rally the other races to take back the earth. Relays provide instant travel to other systems which would normally take decades to reach. So if we deactivate the relay, that prevents us from getting out of the Sol system and also prevents other races getting in. Just how exactly are we going to get the help of other races if the only way in is blocked?

I think one thing worth talking about is: What is all the white garbage floating around the relay? Someone mentioned that maybe there are ships waiting to use it.

I also think the red button looks really weird: what kind of spiral stuff is it doing? Or is it because the screen was taken right after Shep pushed the button at it's in motion?

Yeah I wondered that to, I was just to lazy to post it. Do we actually know its the Charon relay?
