I need help from some of you players that are clearly much better at this game than I am!
I'm struggling to progress with my Mage to put it simply. I feel incredibly weak and underpowered compared to the same mobs I was eating alive on normal difficulty and I would like to know why and furthermore get some help to combat this issue!
I started out in Primal which at first was ok until I got to the Ogre at the starting stage, it took me a good 10 tries to get him down and I only managed to because I had some bug where the mobs didn't spawn. After that there were some encounters where I just got annihilated.
Any tips and build advice you could give me would be greately appreciated. I've not completed the game yet even on normal as it just seemed far too easy to be enjoyable so here I am! Help!
Thanks in advance

What other spells do you have?
I would get the Ice line. I think it's a must for any mage. Ice is a weakness for dragons and rock wraiths. Also it usually will freeze or slow down targets so it's invaluable imo.
Other than that without knowing your party setup or other spells, you wanna keep your mage as far back as possible. Use cover to avoid archers. It helps to focus the entire group on 1 enemy at a time. Especially if your mage gets targeted.
Also an All magic build is perfectly doable. You gain power much faster and have acess to better staffs early. So I'm not sure how you are distributing pts, but keep that in mind if you feel weak. Also there are some staffs that will boost willpower for you.
I've bascially did all magic so far with just a few pts in wp and I'm surviving fine on hard. Once you get around level 10 your really see the mage become powerful. It's just a slower start compared to origins.

Hes talking about the first boss.
With the higher difficulties you need to understand target priority. You need to kill the Hurloc Bolters first, moving your group to the tank who is moving to the bolters, once there she will taunt everyone in range, move off the other 2, set Carver on the other ranged while you support. Kite the mass with the tank, hopefully you can line up the ogres bullrush with the group knocking everyone down and doing damage.
Concentrate on getting those ranged down. Once that happens continue to work on kiting and picking off minor enemies untill its just you and the ogre. Who ever he goes after, move them. You can let him get close enough to start an attack keeping him stationary long enough to move your ranged away and taunt with the tank for control. Kite him with the tank and range him down with the mage. Keep the group on hold so Carver doesn't get smashed while your busy kiting.
hope that helps.

Have you seen around the forums a lot of people throwing out the acronym "CCC"? That stands for Cross class Combos and it will allow you to do insane damage. Basically, certain skills when upgraded have a chance to create debuffs on the target they hit. For example, Shield bash has a chance to create a stagger debuff that allows you to do 900% damage with your upgraded chain lightning. Just make sure you have show status effects in the options on.
Using the pause button to set up these CCC will give you a big boost.

Thank you for the tips so far guys. Here is a little bit of information about my character thus far.
Firstly I've been setting my attributes each level with two points in magic and 1 int willpower. This seemed like the right thing to do with all of the attribute requirements for armor and weapons.
My skills have been pumped entirely into Primal but I'm not yet high enough in level to upgrade them. I'm currently level 5.
My group so far is made of myself, Avi, Anders and Carver. I'm not sure what the optimal setup is so I just tried to cover all of my bases.
