Hey guys so I heard Archers are incredible they just dish out huge damage what attributes should I be lvling and what abilities should I be putting my points in to and as far as specialization goes what is the best one to pick? A guide would be lovely and thank you for all your help in advance :)

focus Dex annd Cunn
put more points on cunn for critical dmg and defense
put a little point in to constitution and willpower
archers lance and rain arrows are your first priority
for specializations I usually go with Shadow and Assassin make sure you get Asssassinate whenever you hit in on an enemy your Hawke does a backflip while shooting the arrow also grants a one hit kill for weak enemies or depletes tough enemies to about 50%

Didn't know an archer can clear a room in 4 seconds of combat as well.

I didn't finish the game with Bow, but I tested it at some parts of the game with the nice respec potions.
The build you want depends largely on your group composition and difficulty you plan to play on.

As mentioned by GreyWarden36 above, the Dex and Cun obviously your main concern, but ability wise the question is do you need to survive or deal damage with your party make-up? I almost never run with a heal-bot in tow, and try to conserve potion usage, so I tend to pick up some abilities which enhance my survival rate.
Shadow is a pretty good specialization for that and Chameleon's Breath (with upgrade) was a life saver for my party but that is obviously about party make up.

Another funny thing to experiment with is to get the threat redirection abilities from Scoundrel and fire off all sorts of possible aoe right at the beginning of the fight, while directing the threat to your chosen tank (if you choose to run one, ofcourse). I simply used Stealth and Evasion with upgrade (Evasion required for Chameleon's Breath anyway) to get things off my back. It's quite satisfying watching the melee train run to your archer, away from your melee characters, then watch them turn around and run all the way back when you stealth.

I wouldn't say they are the "strongest" but they are pretty good at damage. Any class is good if you play it properly.

Pull of the Abyss
Gravitonic
Walking Bomb > grunt 1
Crushing Prison or Horror > Grunt 1
Blood Slave > grunt 2 (* overkill)

Game over man, Game over.

Helps the damage a little on the Elite rogues/liutenants if you throw a hex on them with another mage.

Warriors can literally destroy everything short of a boss in a couple seconds.

And then more came out of the damn walls!

Thankfully though we aren't forced to play mages.

I think those who think another class can compare to a 2h warrior havent tried the right build with all buffs active along with Cleave. Double damage people...

I would hardly call a 2 handed warrior bad compared to archers, in fact for the majority of fights they're superior due to their burst being able to wipe just about anything out in a few seconds. The one advantage to rangers is the fact they are ranged and have a few tricks to shake aggro off them should enemies come after them, which isn't really a big deal for a warrior since you want the enemies on you and not squishy rogues and mages.

Finally i see somebody who uses the same combo, man dont you think that gravatic ring and pull of the abyss are the best support/debuff spells in the game i was able to pull off over 50,000 with a similar combo. well of course with the help of varric man what would i do without that guy.

Edit: opps double post.

The funny thing is that during the demo, people kept whining about how the two-handed Warrior was "useless" and "the worst class" etc, and I told them they should probably figure out how to play since the exaggerated prologue shows just how much they scale over the other two classes and how quickly they can annihilate.

2 Hander warrior deals so much more demage than archers! Thats total atleast.. On a singe target I guess archers does more. The thing is though, when you only got 1 target left you have already won :)

An archer can definitely clear a room in 4 seconds... If they are all standing in a long line. Think Varric's quest. Yep, that would do it :)

But I don't really know what the strongest class is.

maybe a ranged dmg dealer is better on hard and nightmare.

i am playing on nightmare with a ranger and its nice to be able to do a 1shot = kill (on normal mobs) and then use stealth.

also nice being able to control mob agro.

i did start a warrior and a mage to see if they would be good, but they had it hard in the start. compared to the ranger.

but il give them another try.

Archers are strong but they have low fortitude, if they get hit by other arrows or melee, they just crumble.
