I'm starting to feel a bit troubled about the way cannon fodder dies in ME2. A few bullets is one thing, but get someone paralyzed, slammed into the floor and then set on fire is a whole different level of sadism. The powers are there, I guess it would be stupid not to use them...but still... have you ever felt bad about how you kill?

Have you ever pulled one of those security mechanic guards around and then shot it with the Eviscerator? They don't just die, they explode in tiny pieces.

Or say you land in a mining planet, one of those non marked mini quests. Suddenly a group of salarians shows up shooting at you. After some bullet exchange, Jack shockwaves them, making them fall to the floor, stunned. Then you throw the inferno grenade and the whole group die screaming, surrounded by fire.

Am I alone here?

Don't feel bad in a fake setting and I doubt I'd feel bad in real life. If a group of random X's start shooting at me, I have no problem killing them with whatever means are the easiest. I don't hold back so I can give them what might be a less painful death because holding back might mean I get killed. I also don't believe you should spring into action after you have been shot, I'm perfectly willing to shoot first if I know the person is hostile and armed.

Nyoka - this is just a game. It's fine to let our killing ideas flow in-game combat. That's what shooting games, etc are for.

Feel bad? Feel GOOD is more like it. It's always satisfying to see an enemy catch on fire after shooting him.

I cringe a little if they scream too much.

Sucks to be a mook, man.

I am the hero. So logically everyone I kill must deserve a painful death, otherwise I wouldn't be the hero.

Besides, its not like they have no choice in the matter. They chose to become mercenaries. They chose kill people in painful ways and to risk being killed in painful ways. They chose to fight Shepard. Many chose to fight Shepard even after watching Shepard kill all their friends in painful ways. There's not much you can do when faced with such overwhelming stupidity.

actually yes I do feel kinda sad :(

but I'm a big carebear :P so I pretty much don't like it, but its fun to blow those damn mechs they are annoying as hell.

but sometime (on insanity) I just go into a survival instinct kinda thing and start freezing, burning, and shooting stuff in the face so I can LIVE.

Using ammunition that sets fire to people is morally and legally questionable (at least by modern standards). Isn't that kind of thing against the Geneva convention?

All HEAT warheads are based on that idea , what if a tank doesn´t have reinforced armor etc ...
The explosion inside the tank isn´t pretty either ....

Anyway don´t know if enough countries signed the flamethrower agreement , I know for sure russian china and US didn´t .

Well in the past it was worth a revolt , but after games like Halo , Gears of Wars , Gods of War . Red death redemption.
Even DA:O final killing blow , the audience is slowly getting immune to those kind of things .

You are living in 2011 or beter said 21st century , gaming violence is being pushed to the very edge .
Infact if a game has black blood (germany) or no gore and violence , its a auto failure nowadays .

So ask yourself the violence or sadistic nature is part of any games , the headshots with brains all over the area.
The dismembering of a corpse , shooting up body parts etc etc etc ...

Its funny that that is age 12 rated , but a simple boob or nipple is rated 18 ...

I was asking a question, not stating a fact. In any case, burning a person alive remains a pretty horrific way to kill someone, even if they are mercenary scum.  :P

I don't mind the violence, in fact I'm all for realism in games, hell ME did not seem gory enough for me.

BUT I don't have to like it :P
