I must respectfully disagree.
The quality of discussion here is at a pretty high standard considering the high amount of traffic.
I disagree because there is very little discussion going on.
Praise is dismissed as easily as criticism. It doesn't seem to matter if or what you've actually played. Critics are whiners. Satisifed customers are suck-ups. There hasn't been an original legit complaint in days.
Unproven conspiracy theories and paranoia abound. A chunk of the board is so scared of Bioware and EA locking them out of their games for a day or two that they won't register their games because of things they've heard fourth or fifth-hand at this point. Some stranger on the internet told them, also strangers on the internet, that it was true - and that stranger has seen the screencaps, all very damning - so it must be so.
The "I told you so" crowd start up brand new threads to gnash their teeth about what the game could have - SHOULD HAVE! - been and swear to never buy another Bioware game, while other players scratch their heads looking for the key elements whose removal supposedly ruins the whole game even though they never noticed these elements after 100 hours of playing DA:O. ("Tactical wha?")
We complain about the board's requiring software registration like it's never happened before to any game anywhere, when Bioware's other game boards have been just like this for years. There's "THE PIT" (this board - general discussion) and the rest is safely tucked away behind walls to keep out the sociopaths.
Bioware's old games are periodically dredged up so we can all wander down memory lane and think about how cool 3/4s of Baldur's Gate 2 was while forgetting what an uneven mess 3/4s of Neverwinter Nights was.
As someone who initially came to these boards for info about the game, this place is poison.
(Why am I still here then? I won't have my copy of the game until later in the week, so I can't go to the restricted boards yet.)
I most certainly would not call the honored posters here "kids pooping in a sandbox".
I didn't say we all are - and I don't believe any of us are "honored" - but some of us most definitely don't know how to behave around others. Every board has some and these boards are no different.
Frankly, the boards have made me glad the game lacks a multiplayer component so I don't have to worry about running into any of you in-game.
Regarding personal attacks, I think that kind of posts are equally unacceptable in this forum as in the closed one. But the moderators do a really good job at rooting out the worst ones.
And in this forum, it's just about impossible to prevent repeat offenders.
Tied to his software registration in the other forum, troll gets his one shot at infamy and then he gets a vacation, possibly permanently.
