Personally I think Bioware shouldn't waste anymore time with DA2, its a **** game compared to origins and they need to just drop it like the crippled spartan baby it is and get going on making DA3 more like DA:Origins 3
DA games are not in sequence
they are just different stories been told about a world the time line even runs along the other story
just like when you leave Lothering at the start of DA2 you're actualy at the same time playing with your warden going tru the DAO storyline
DA2 is as a matter of fact a side branch of the DAO story
it doesn't matter what they come up with as the next game since different things can happen in a world they don't all have to be related
i just don't believe that they have told everything yet, about whats realy going on
and plots and events will occur in future titles that will make you go now i get it (i hope) DA2 might not realy cut it story wise
but at least its got some decent solid gameplay and thats already a big advantage if you ask me
it might be overdone, yes, with all the flying around oer the battlefield type of play
but thats just a matter of opinion and taste
and since we all got different one's there's no ground for disscussion
i'd say that all by all its not so bad but its not great either
at least they keep developing new stuff and just hang in there and and you'll see that it will pull thru in the end
rome wasn't build in a day either
Even with all of what you just said the artwork, gameplay, copied mass effect mechanics, overall design and engine they are using the create DA2 and its DLC is garbage, so best to just redo it all from scratch and hope you haven't lost enough fans to Dragon Age already when DA3 comes out. DA:O took 5+ years to make and DA2 took less than 1 and a half, so there is no time and effort with regards to DA2 and its best to just bury it altogether.
Wow, wow, wow! DA2 DLC is garbage? In that case nothing they do (bar relaunch Origins for you in a new package) will satisfy you.
And to say the mechanics are copied from Mass Effect is a true sign of ignorance. The mechanics are NOTHING like Mass Effect.
I would also say that the DA2 gameplay mechanics are much better that many AAA RPGs out there today so it's hardly something to be complaining about.
And what's that you say? DA2 took less than 18 months to make? Wrong again! The truth is, we don't exactly know when they started working on it. Also, Origins took so long, because it was new lore, new concept, new everything!
DA2's development cycle already had a lot of those things in place.
I am sure this will fall on deaf ears as you are clearly not being reasonable, but I would say this: For it's many faults, DA2 does a number of things much better than Origins.
It is not a better game overall, but it is not garbage either.
See unlike most people I'm not going to throw up the meat shield to prevent further conversation over this. The meat shield being the overused "Its just my opinion... jeeeeezzzz" that this forum and many others are littered with. I actually want people to refute my points and show me where I am wrong. And don't think I'm not listening or wont take anything you say seriously, I do and will. But really, don't let this spoil your day or anything.
Ok so first off DA2 as a whole, including its DLC, is a game I have little love for and feel that Bioware failed to produce a game that can stand up to its predecessor. So I feel they shouldnt drag this game along the floor with its knees scrapping on concrete any longer and just go full force into DA3 with a newly designed engine. I will wait patiently for that, and hopefully I will not be as surprised by the release date as I was for DA2. I'm not saying take 5 years to make DA3 but at least think of a proper story and ending and try to make the games feel similar to each other in some ways.
As for the mechanics of Mass Effect, unless you are new to the forums or simply don't read any comments or reviews about the game then I'm sure you've at least heard the complaints about how the radial menu and paraphrasing dialogue plus morality based answers were completely ripped from Mass Effect, minus the sarcastic response which really has no place to begin with.
Now you say the mechanics are better than many other games but many people are complaining about them. I hated battle sequences because enemies simply materialized out of thin air, I hated the tactics menu because it wasnt change from Origins at all. I hated the AI and overall super easy to win combat. This doesn't make my answer right simply because thats how I feel, but I know a lot and probably most people would agree with parts of my comments.
And to say I'm wrong because I said 1.5 years and your aswer for this was Because No One Knows... so doesn't that mean I technically could be right? I may be off by a few weeks or *gasp* maybe even a couple months but everyone has agreed that the project felt rushed and needed severe polishing. It wasn't ready for release but they did it anyways and it showed, especially towards the end. But DA2 never added much to the lore of dragon age either, I was expecting new monsters and tons of information about the encompassing world, the only thing it really gave us in terms of lore was the Qun. I mean there is more but its very minimal, because in my opinion for lore I received 95% of the lore from Origins and only 5% of the dragon age lore from DA2. I fished that game feeling like I barely learned anything.
I know that a lot of time went into the initial development of the lore and story but I do believe the vast majority of time was put into the actually development of the game and its world. Which btw the shear size and beauty of the first game was well worth the time it took to make it, compared to DA2 where the only good looking set pieces were found outside of Kirkwall, which is pretty small to begin with.
There was only a few things DA2 did well for 'me', namly the combat system, but it was only a minor improvement. In Origins I thought the combat was slow and felt like dice were being rolled right before my eyes, DA2 saw this as the greatest of curses and decided to make the combat system something like a hampster on speed with exploding bodies and everyone getting mangled so quickly you didnt even realize you just won. So in essence neither really had it right but if you can find a way to merge these two systems together they can probably come out with something more believable but not taxingly pen and paper 'ish either.
So basically I want them to rework the engine and art style, go back to a more realistic approach that origins had but try to improve on the mechanics. I've always wanted the tactics menu to have an option to switch to another tactic if say the enemy started close range combat, but without having to pause the game.
I know my first responses to this topic were childish and offensive, but they were intended to be just that and also humorous.
